Just an update (a little under 2 years later) This light is still going really strong and is one of my favorite go to lights for around the house and camping.
Great review! I have many of these and love them. It's also nice to hear someone else say the strobe effect is useless LOL I've always said that and it's been the downfall of many other lights before I found this one. At least with this light you can program it out. Thanks again for a great review!
What's your current duty flashlight?
@nickv3075 Currently running the larger Stinger 2020 as my go to. The ProTac still rides in the car in my duty bag as a spare.
@@JTFActual thanks man!
@@NV30751 anytime!
This flashlight is incredible. Highly recommend
Great review buddy. The video and audio quality was great. Good light hope it holds up well.
I'm about to put one on the road myself. Just arrived today but it did include a USB charge cord. Appreciate the video. Learned a lot. The epaulette is a thought. Stay safe, brother.
CR123A batteries work in extreme temperatures to and have a long shelf life. They are designed for reliability. Rechargeable cells and alkaline cells stop working at a pathetic -4 degrees fahrenheit if they are exposed to the outside air for too long. 18650s are good for everyday tasks in normal temperatures and are more convenient and economical but are inferior for self defense use. They are great general purpose batteries for high drain lights that are used all the time. I consider the 18650 to be the best rechargeable battery size. For defense though, I will stick with CR123A cells, especially with winter coming around. Up north, CR123A cells are the only batteries that always work. It is nice to see duel fuel lights becoming common though. The rattle is kind of a bummer but at least you have options.
Thanks for the review. I'm about to buy one. Stay safe out there on the Thin Blue Line. 💙
Glad I could help you out! And thank you so much for the words of support. I know my coworkers and I greatly appreciate them
Awesome video I just ordered this light for work
Thanks for the Vid was looking to replace my forever faithful Surefire G2X Dual pro for the same reasons....perfect replacement....
16650 battery and you're good to go again with the G2X
Respect bro, I started reviewing tactical pens on my channel, glad to see your back,
I need to check those videos out then, I've been in the market for a new one dude! And thanks, it sucks that I've been so busy lately, but I'm trying to get back in to it.
Respect bro, maybe sometime soon you can do a live stream, and we can chat for a bit , is everything over priced in Texas to bro , that is one of the reasons why I haven't bought any pistol lately, stay safe out there bro, glad you got a reliable flashlight,
@Tactical Time Thanks man!
Great review and Information!Going to order this today from Amazon I need a better Light.
That clip is pretty nifty.
That light looks solid to bad it doesn't just have a low and high setting. I was really interested in your opinions on light holsters very good info on both. (Got to love that perfect timing on the train). Awesome Review! Hope your doing well.
Yeah, I wish it did have a high and low only setting, other than that I have really enjoyed it! And ya, love my off camera friend the train haha.
Awesome video and light
Thanks!
I have the exactly light. Mine has a low/ high setting. Maybe because it's newer. But, I only bought it because it had that setting
Try the cam roto lock holder for that light it should work
I got two of those polytac lights cause they are so lightweight. But... I immediately broke one by over tightening the mount. Those batteries are the shit. The regular 18650 batteries dont work though. I've got my light set up for high only.
Ooo just got one of these couldnt find my surefire ultra stinger 😢
I have the surefire g2xpro eats batteries
16650 = Surefire or any other dual 123 battery light. However only at 4.2 volts, grat for led lights. Or 16340 but 3.7 volts each a total of 7.4 volts with dual battery lights, if your light can take the higher voltage.
Hi mate try the nitecore srt 7 one of the best lights I ever used on duty... And for all modern lights I would suggest rechargeable 18650 or 18350 (equivalent to a cr123) batteries and a decent charger you'll save money on the long run! Greetings from France!
Thanks for the tip! I may have to do some flashlight shopping! I've only been to France once, but I'd love to go again someday.
@@JTFActual most welcome! And if you visit France and are in the south let me know! PS the detail I forgot... The srt 7 has the Mode selection on a ring on the body and is tail switch activated once you learn the settings pretty easy you can choose your mode without going through all modes while blinding yourself on a wall or something...
Will nitecore 18650 work on this streamlight hlx? Thanks.
@@lovescherylblossom3441 i dont have this falshlight so i couldnt test but since the nitecores are button top and some even have a charging port the nitecore batteries could be somewhat long... I recommend sony vtc or Samsung imr cells if you arent sure what will fit!
It has a low/high only setting. Just gotta play with the settings
If you’re looking for a great duty light, the Pelican 8060 LED is superb….if you can find one.
How would you mount this light to a rifle thanks
Dang train
You should try an Elzetta Bravo B331 or B133. Much better light from a much more high end company. You will notice a huge difference.
Hey, I have not been able to find anything on my issue I just uncovered. I have barely used the light while attached to my rifle and I turned in on and let it run for maybe 5 minutes. The light turned from super bright to a low-dim light on its own while sitting. Cannot be the battery considering I have not used it and I did not change to a different mode. Any suggestions on why the light went from bright to dim on its own?
I haven't had that issue on either of mine just yet. what kind of batteries are you using? Also one thing I can think of is heat. These lights when ran for extended times do tend to get pretty warm, and heat can have an effect on electronics, its possible that the internal temperature began to have an effect on the circuitry causing the light to dim or reduce voltage. Honestly I would contact Streamlight and possibly have them take a look at it, just for safety.
@@JTFActual Thank you for the reply.
I contacted Streamlight’s service department and the person explained the HL (High Lumen) models do this once the batteries are close to dying. I explained the light has barely been used but he explained back that it does not matter if they have been used a lot or not. He said once the light was been turned on even once, the device will continuously draw power from the batteries because they have essentially been “activated.” It just took them a while to go dead because of the rare use of them but still died nonetheless. I purchased two of the longer rechargeable batteries to use instead of the CR123 and the light began working as normal once I put one in the flashlight.
Thank you again for the reply.
@@Halldog7 do you have a pressure pad and tail switch while attached to your rifle? if so do you got a link?
Hello, cam you take off the clip of you don't want ot on the light. Thanks.
Yes you can, it is attached via 2 screws and it easily removed.
Thanks for replying back and letting me know.
Dude on prg 3 = 1 bump low second bump is high..
One question: Dont you get the batteries from your Department? Do you really have to buy them from your own money? - thats not okay.
Most small agencies you have to purchase your own support equipment. Such as batteries, notebooks, pens and so on. At one agency I worked at I even had to supply my own firearm. In rural southern agencies fund is very limited and officers are often expected to pay for a lot themselves. It's not the case for every department, but common enough.
@@JTFActual wow... Thank you for you answer. You serve the community and as a "thank you" you have as an officer to bring your own equipment. Its like you have to pay for your paper in the office - thats not ok. Keep up the good work! My thoughts are with you and all your collegues, doing this physically and mentally demanding work for the people in the communitys. THANK YOU!
High Speed Gear holder for this light.
I may have to try them out.
Maybe u can write a grant for batteries 😂🤔🤫
I'll leave grant writing to the pros, that stuff can get difficult fast haha
Ten tap programming has been around since 2010 Jesus do some research first . Best setting is low medium high. .. in that order.
a work light that you have to vuy your own battery , that should not happen ... cops should be able to use great light as streamlight at no cost
Many officers have to provide their own equipment, not just flashlights!
@@JTFActual make me think as russian orcs that have to buy their own equipment to have decent equipment on the battlefield , pretty sad
@@JTFActual for rifle light , protac hl-x pro at 1000 lumens and 50k candella is a great ridle light for the price , really bright and well built and pretty tought
@@JTFActual did you know that ´ JTF ´ is the name of the tier one of the special forces Canadian Army ? pretty cool name
stand for joint task force
@qaudit1612 oh yeah we have JTFs and JTTFs here as well in the States. I'm not that special though! My little company is called Joint Task Force Consulting so since I'm the owner my socials go by JTFActual
Why are you using metric for your distance measurements? SMH
Living in Europe and military will do that to you I guess haha
@@JTFActual Well don't. 😡
Hopefully America will join the rest of the modern world and use metric. Slowly we are making the migration.
@@xfer43 Nope. We're perfectly fine without it.
