- I wondered what is inside. This drill chuck is sealed in non-demountable manner.

Excellent video. No speaking necessary and no distracting music. Thanks very much.
Very nice of You to sacrifice a chuck to show how it works. Great video , I really enjoyed it.
Thank You for the tip about the jaws assembly , in that , they are numbered. I can just see myself assembling and re-assembling a chuck ???× before realizing I should have marked them like you did.
You're a good man Mr. Pete , always greatful for your knowledge and a big Thank You , Sir.
Whoever invented this was a genius

Arthur Jacobs was his name.
Thank you for the detailed graphic images on the pc. It shows a great deal and effort you put into this video.
Thanks for the tutorial. You just saved me having to replace my very stiff , slightly working three jaw chuck
Wow. Your photography was amazing. Always wondered why my drill chucks were troublesome. Thank you kindly.
Hi I have learned more from you saying "ZIP" than most of the videos that waffle on !!! Thanks from Down Under
Nice video - and quiet ;-). When the chuck of my Bosch drill got stuck, I was able to fix it by first flushing with silicon spray and next generously applying silicon grease. While doing this, the range of movement became bigger & bigger until it functioned as new.
Chuck dissection.
Nice.
Even non technical can understand this.
Thank you for your effort.
Keep it up. 🙏
What a great video man ! Many times I asked myself, how this stuff works. Thank you !
Thank you for your instructive Video , I had to pull a 1/2” chuck I am modifying to fit a jig I am making to sharpen drill bits , I was half way to disaster when I checked on you tube and found your clip . Luckily I have a lathe and was able to remove half the crimp and reduce the thickness of the remainder so I could force it out of the groove , now I can reassemble and re crimp the remaining portion Thank you again I would probably destroyed the chuck had I carried on .
excelente vídeo. No me explico cómo alguien puede dar un "no like" a un vídeo que nos enseña y nos guía para arreglar esta herramienta. Gracias por compartir sus conocimientos.
Very good explanation without using any voice. Two thumbs Up!

Thanks for giving us a look inside a chuck.
Interesting. Thanks for that. I've had chucks getting very stiff due to dust / dirt getting in, when e.g. drilling into ceilings. So I soak them in white spirit & work them open / closed several times to flush out the dirt.
Showing the "culprit" with the forceps was one of the beautiful part of the video.
Excelente video, muy didactico.Gracias
Thank you. I have used the same procedure for my chuck, that is identical.
That's what a great youtuber did! Great effort succeeded. thanks for sharing.

Thanks! I understand so much better now that I will be replacing my chuck. Bummer, but it helps somehow to know exactly why!

Nice 3D CAD illustration!
What an awesome video, excellent content and very well presented, you deserve an award!

Interesting video . I always wondered what's inside a drill chuck . Thanks !
Thanks but very slow u r demo

The great invention of drill. chuck..... All machine users used this tool...
Yeah got a B16 up market chuck to fit to my budget drill press fitted the original one from start could not get it off , this video explaind how to remove great cheers
Thanks for the vídeo.man! I got the same problem on a cheap drilling machine I bouth new for 15 € some 4 or 5 yars ago! And here for cheap machinery not always are available spars! So again: thank you!

we are sending you the award for this work... through a courier
Excellent - And now you know how it works and why Albrecht or Jacobs chucks are so costly. Those who would scrap it and buy another are doomed to eternally buy and replace.
jerry quigg Well, the good stuff is always expensive...
Very clear like a surgeon on the operating table...I could hear a pin drop...
That’s how it works inside. Very clever 👍👍
Thanx for not using a computer voice, Chuck. : )
You saved our lives, you helps us a lot for our design universsity project!
I LOVE YOU BYE
nice teardown
Very good job! Thank u
desde colombia GRACIAS amigo por compartir es importante este truco.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with buying low quality products made from low quality materials. It works out great for the manufacturers.
Nicely done video and yes you are right, those things would need some special press tooling and a lot of force to open without doing what you did. Though I would have just given it a lick with a cutoff disc while it is spinning in the drilling machine.
This is why I love those one-piece keyless drill chucks, they are easily disassembled by unscrewing the cover, cleaned and returned to service. But even though the name is keyless, I still recommend the ones that have 3 or 4 holes around the chuck so that you can tighten them properly with a pin/hook spanner.
Now that I know, I would drill a hole in each side of the press cover to remove, and use pins
Great work...
Nice and useful information. Thanks
This video is very detail, scientific and smart 👍👍
Thank you for sharing this.
Neat to see the inside, thanks for sharing.

Brilliant, and so was Jacobs the inventor of that chuck.
I had a similar problem. The drill chuck was open and I could not clamp a drill bit into it. I applied some lubricant into the space or groove that is between the inner fixed part and the outer revolving part of the drill chuck. After 24 hours or more, I could loosen my drill chuck.
damm, I never thought of taking my 5/8" chuck apart
I did think not to toss it so I'm going to try what you showed
thanks.
Good tip about numbering the 3 fingers.
I learned that the hard way on my lathe.
good video
Thanks. I enjoyed and learned. My old (from about 1980) Craftsman doesn't hold drill bits very well. I tighten the chuck as much as I can, but they slide. Do you think a chuck will take care of it? I assumed that there were some teeth or something that grabbed the bit that were worn, but I didn't see anything like that on your video. Any ideas? Thanks.....
Very nice cam
An effort like this deserves a like.
That's vary good thanks for your
Never had one to freeze up like that, but always wondered how they work.
Ya podré arreglar mi mandril, gracias.
Very interesting, I was wondering the same thing.
Good tutorial for me thank you!
what a wondeeful engineering!!
Thanks. Very interesting.
Nice. I just wanted to see the factory machined broken part. Seen conecting rods made like that.
everything is soo silent...yet so clear👍👍
That chuck looks dangerous where it has been cut away. Catch a hand on that spinning chuck and likely to have a gashed hand to deal with. Best to chuck it away and buy new.
Mai visto... Grazie, Fausto (Italia)
A chuck of a good quality works for ever😂!
1:17, like that ! Simple and nondestructive. 😊

Thanks all you
A very interesting and informative video. Thanks.
Super very clear explanation
Está sorprendente la pieza.

legal voce compartilhar, aprendi sempre tive curiosidade de saber como era dentro
Well I be danged. Guess I'll be taking mine apart. Thanks!!
very good...thanks
My drill chuck locked up too. I wasn't getting it free nor removed so i figured lets buy a new drill. And a week later it freed up and now i have 2 battery drills
Not bad though. I have big wood projects coming. So i can have a drill bit in 1 and a screw bit in the other one.
that threaded sleeve is supposed to be broken in the middle.. literally broken in half is how they come
that chuck never jammed thanks for the silent video
Did you watch the video... he removed a broken chunk of thread material??
You can't be serious.
amazing! cheers from Brazil

Nazmi salihu hi!
very useful video.
Thank you for tutorial.
AL final!!! El truco del mago! La ecuación de la física! La curva del pitcher!
Thanks a lot
Very good
I had a chuck do this, I wasn’t very silent about it.
Guys, I´m so sorry to tell you that broken ring IS NOT broken, it is design in that way, if not, how it could be assembled in that part of the chuck. There is no way you can put in.
Power Hacksaw pump dismassbly
5:28How do you install the chuck on the shaft? I don't see any thread on the shaft.

Now that was interesting!

That thing looked like it actually didn’t have much run out at all I was pretty surprised..
I'd like to meet the person who invented that thing-!!
