Bro #8 being Inception had me MALDING and same with Dunkirk being #11 and Insomina being #8 LOL I love top tier lists
Watching my best friend say Dunkirk is boring had me malding I’m with you brother lol
@@FilmTheRightThing You defending Insomina had me crying laughing because I agree with you
@@TommyNicoletti glad you enjoyed it!
Memento and Interstellar are 11/10, both just sublime films. Insomnia is just ridiculously underrated though, contains one of the best Robin Williams performances ever and is one of the best remakes ever too.
If the editing during the dialogue scenes were calmer and less frantic it’d be rated much higher probably
@@FilmTheRightThing I haven’t rewatched it since I became an editor so I bet on rewatch I’ll notice how frantic it is hahaha.
@@MrTibster it’s the worst part about his mid 2000s stuff but thankfully he calmed down
1. Dunkirk
2. Interstellar
3. Tenet
4. The Prestige
5. The Dark Knight
6. Memento
7. Inception
8. Batman Begins
9. The Dark Knight Rises
10. Following
11. Insomnia
That’s crazy but I can tell you’re a Hoyte Van Hoytema enjoyer so that’s cool
Watching Interstellar on a cinema screen is a borderline religious experience, that movie slaps so hard
I’ve had the pleasure of being able to see it twice in theaters since it’s initial theatrical run and there are few things like it!
I still struggle to understand the hate for The Dark Knight Rises. But we share the top two. Interstellar is my favorite film of all time and was happy to see it get some love from you both.
It’s that second half, it’s just a mess!
The Prestige is one of the best examples of Chris Nolan cinematography and it really showcases the atmosphere of the world. It's low angled shots of buildings are often extremely well done
Completely disagree, his visual style is very dependent on who his cinematographer is. The jump in style from Wally Pfister to Hoyte van Hoytema is like night and day. His editing definitely has a style that’s consistent over multiple editors but his visuals are not
I do agree that both Hoyte and Wally are unique in their own way and have their own style. But they are both masters at what they do. I might also tend to prefer Hoyte's style but I think some of Nolan's movies with Wally have a really awesome atmosphere.
There is however a similar essence they both bring when working with Nolan. An easy example of this is the low to the ground establishing shots of a location to make it feel more "awe-inspiring". Both cinematographers have done this in all of Nolan's films. The Dark Knight's famous burning building shot is an example. Interstellar had that tear-inducing scene of the tire as Coop leaves Murph.
Interstellar has a case for being the best Nolan film for sure, but The Prestige was criminally underrated by both of you (and is the other contender for best Nolan pic). It has some of the best usage of Nolan's "time-altering" with the diary pages and the "3 acts of a magic trick" even using that not just as a plot device (looks at Dunkirk) but actually to enhance the story. It has some of Wally's (and Nolan's) best cinematography such as the iconic "where are the wires" scene. It has (IMO) Nolan's best twist, which is something he does in all his films.
And for the record, without Batman Begins having such a great atmoshphere of Gotham, the Dark Knight wouldn't have been as great in retrospect. Batman Begins also deserves more love as it is the only we dont get "Batman in Daylight" (famous critique of batman movies). I still think that Dark Knight is the more universally better film, but Batman Begins is a freaking great film!
Much love :P
@@FilmTheRightThing
If Prestige had IMAX sequences you would be raving about it too.@@FilmTheRightThing
I need this Memento praise injected into my veins.
If we update the list in the future it could probably move up
The actor at 7:49 from Batman Begins is the main character from Following one of the examples of Chris Nolan reusing actors
I didn’t expect to sit through this whole discussion but I really enjoyed it🔥
Thanks for spending your time with us!
Great discussion guys 🥰👍🏻
Thanks!
I wonder if you guys will do a Wes Anderson films from worst to best video. I only say that because I’m curious where you guys would place The life Aquatic. Lots of Wes Anderson fans usually place it pretty low (from the videos I’ve seen at least)
We’ll get to it at some point depending on what happens with Wes! Like we said in the beginning we gotta have a good reason to do it. Life Aquatic is good though, haven’t seen it in a long time.
Dunkirk at 11 is wild 😂
Incredibly wild, it’s okay he’ll change in time
I just wish that Glen gave more of an argument that for why Dunkirk its 11 other than its boring
Sometimes it be like that, there were other parts that were cut out but it felt repetitive to keep it in. I could have asked why but the caffeine was really kicking in at that point
Love the thumbnail for this lol maybe Nolan should have a female centric movie next
Tenet easily could have been that but I’m glad we got John David
Tenet is amazing.. with subtitles
Lolol
1st Following, 2nd Memento, 3rd Interstellar, 4th The Prestige, 5th Batman Begins, 6th Inception, 7th The Dark Knight, 8th The Dark Knight Rises, 9th Dunkirk, 10th Insomnia
I haven’t seen Tenet yet
Following first???
@@FilmTheRightThing yeah, clearly the best and the only 10/10 on the list
@@notaMMJV when you’re right you’re right
Let's fucking gooo
Enjoy
Great discussion, thank you guys!
It made me want to watch this movies very much!
Except Dark Night Rises of course. The plot is hot caca
No problem! Thanks for watching
Yeah that movie is caca
The dark knight rises at 11 is insane had it been it’s own stand alone movie it would be neck and neck with TDK as best Batman movie
There’s a lot of things that needed to change for it to be that good unfortunately
@@FilmTheRightThing I’m just saying y’all making it seem like it’s a 6 outta 10 it’s a solid 9 or 8.8 at worst wonder when’s the last time you genuinely sat down and watched it
@@JOK3RC4RDx we have a whole video we made about the trilogy last year. It’s a narrative mess. But 6/10 is still a positive score also.
@@FilmTheRightThing nah we both know 6 outta 10 for a Nolan movie especially a Batman movie is an insult lol you might as well call it Batman forever
@@JOK3RC4RDx our scores don’t shift depending on the director it’s a universal feeling. Also, we like Batman Forever immensely less than The Dark Knight Rises.
tenet and darknight rises are so bad
Gotta give Tenet another shot!
@@FilmTheRightThing dood no way that jargony stale ass dialogue had me ZzzZzzZzzzz
@@Tmathh can’t even hear the dialogue !
@@FilmTheRightThing lmao
Dunkirk 11.
I am stopping the video. Waste of time.
