Hey Osvaldo - will put that on the list - but don't wait - just set up a live online demo. Just hit this page and chat with someone: coldesi.com/direct-to-film-transfer-printers-have-finally-arrived/
I have a Roland VG540 right now but I do mostly T shirts so now I am looking at one of these DTF printers. The issue I see but haven't found a direct answer to is that you would be hindered to do a small run of shirts it seems. Essentially you cant get your prints off of the printer until it runs all the way through the dryer with the powder. How much waste do you realistically have if you aren't printing 24/7. Suppose you only needed to do 12-15 shirts with a fairly quick turnaround, do you just run the film into the dryer and waste it or can you cut it? What is the next best option if the production demands aren't this high and would result in wasted media? My highest volume job client is usually around 300pc's but a majority of my jobs are for other small business which are usually 14-30pc's
We're working on an roi article built around this now Jerry, where we are specifically doing a 16 shirt order. Here's what you'll learn from that when we're done: >The math still works on a 16 shirt order. It's not ideal, but still more profitable and faster than using something like white toner or a bn-20 > Because of the Print Optimizer rip that comes with it, you can bundle jobs together and make the best of any production run. Basically, a good idea to put multiple orders together - it will save you a LOT of time > These high volume printers are not appropriate for every business. But it sounds like you're near the edge - I would talk it through with a pro at coldesi.
@@ColDesiColman appreciate the response, good info. I am definitely right along the edge. I’m in that area where I do most of my jobs in house but I am also still ordering screen printed transfers for the simple T shirt designs that printable vinyl is no good for.
@@Jerry-LZ You keep some film on the collecting roll and every time you start a job you thread it all the way back to the vicinity of the printer and attach it to the film sticking out of the printer. That way you save material.
As a screen printer I love the concept and would love to get a machine like that but afraid to because of all the maintenance issues and problems with clogging of print heads and the settling of the white inks, how does your machines fare pertaining to those issues?
The equipment is definitely designed for commercial production and we have customers that put them to work! You will absolutely want to follow the maintenance to keep your machine running tip top.
we bought a press and some custom transfers. Getting to it. Thanks for the vid. It'll be a while before we get a printer. The transfers are just too reasonable.
We have a video showing how to color match in our training. Anytime you are working with color matching, you print a color chart and match it to the color you want. We have built in color charts that can be printed for this process.
Thinking about purchasing this printer. Only one question. If I want to only print 3 copies, can you cut it off by hand at the printer and hand feed it into dryer? I don't want to waste what looks like 6 feet of transfer for only only 24 inches of film.
Hi Mike. You can - BUT this isn't a good production flow. You would want to add those 3 copies to the end of another job. If you are looking for a short run machine for custom tees the DTG G4 might be a better option for you.
It uses a specific DTF ink set - environment is pretty standard for any inkjet process - you need to keep it in a temperature controlled environment, watch humidity levels, etc. And.. there is noise, so you'll want to keep that in mind

There are many brands of glue and you should consult SDS documents for safety rather than just social media videos. We have documentation for all our brands of glue. Saying that, extractors and air purifiers are great for all industrial businesses when particulate can get in the air.
