I had the privilege to briefly meet Wayne one time when he was at the Blue Ridge Folk Life Festival in Ferrum, Virginia years ago. I highly regret what I did. Instead of asking to hear Wayne play his guitar I tried to show off with my elementary and faulty fingerpick rendition of Deep River Blues. I foolishly thought I might impress him. Wayne can play probably 1000 times better than I could so hats off to this very gifted man. He was patient and kind to this fool. Thanks Wayne!
Self taught luthier......unbelievable. ,a true artist im impressed a nd surprised this is the first time I've heard of wayne Henderson, keep on keeping on wayne ,,a new fan. Me
Brilliantly done film. Wayne Henderson is a craftsman in the old style, doing it for the love of doing it - and doing it right. I respect his music so much, also his devotion to preserving the music of the Appalachian region. Thanks to Wayne Henderson, and thanks to you for hosting this magnificent film! The fact a guitar is made by such a humble man is enough to make it valuable. He’s just a southern good ole boy and never changed. I really don’t care a thing about owning one of his guitars, just sitting with him and absorbing the wisdom would be the value to me. What a national treasure he is.
Not only "made by such a humble man"........but Mr. Henderson actually does all of his ultra-exquisite abalone inlay work STRICTLY BY-HAND !!! Everyone else nowadays uses CNC lasers to cut the highly detailed shapes for which the abalone is inlaid. And to see this legendary man actually use AN OLD-SCHOOL POCKETKNIFE to do much of the work, is just mind-blowing.
Of all the videos of Wayne on RUclips, this is my favorite! The narrator says very little, but the video speaks for itself....a TRUE American treasure, and a great American! Thanks for sharing!
absolutely wonderful to meet and get to know thru the internet Wayne Henderson what a beautiful man humble so talented and I do play the guitar a little bit I love it would like to play Wildwood Flower but never learned it thank you Wayne Henderson! I will head to the music store for your CDs are recordings
Very interesting. Beautiful work. God has surely given you a great talent. The guitar has a great sound and you sure play good. How much do you sell them for? God bless you. Brother Don
the shop is in Rugby VA. Wayne is the mayor. Population, 7. the wane Henderson fest is this Saturday, always the third Saturday in June, rain or shine.
The book about Wayne...(THe Making of Eric Clapton's Guitar) breezes over the inlay work in one paragraph. Says the inlay goes like lightning. I don't get it. I wish well..I'll look elsewhere on youtube for some inlay video.

A pocket knife. A pocket....knife.
Well what else would he use 😂
wow tone what strings do you use?
what is the name of the tune he plays at the end?
sounds like Sally Ann
I was wondering the same thing. He plays it well, that's for sure.
wheres the whiskey and moonshine bottles ?
how the hell does he make such wonderful instruments in such a mess
Tidy people need tidy. The rest us are more relaxed and have everything to hand.
If you ever have your own workshop, you would realize how things get piled up and move around place to place. He's busy!!! That's just how it is!
