  • Welcome to "The Evolution of Beauty Standards," an engaging exploration of how beauty ideals have transformed over the past century! Join us as we journey through the captivating world of vintage fashion and makeup with Alexandre and Max, the dynamic duo behind a renowned vintage and antique shop "POMPON" located in the heart of Marais, Paris.
    With a wealth of experience working with esteemed actresses and style icons, including contributing to the costume designs of the acclaimed Dior series, Alexandre and Max bring a wealth of expertise and passion to our exploration of vintage beauty.
    In collaboration with our muses Angelina and Carmo, each representing a different decade, we explore how beauty standards have evolved over time. From the elegant sophistication of the Edwardian era to the bold glamour of the Roaring Twenties, we uncover the nuances of each period's fashion and beauty trends.
    In our inaugural episode, we transport ourselves back to the turn of the 20th century, delving into the iconic styles of the 1900s and 1910s. We recreate authentic looks from this pivotal period through meticulous research and inspired creativity, from intricately detailed garments to makeup techniques.
    However, we must note that while we strive for historical authenticity, some inaccuracies may occur as we draw inspiration from the spirit of these bygone eras. Nonetheless, our goal remains unchanged: to shed light on how beauty standards have shifted over time and highlight the enduring influence of early 20th-century aesthetics on contemporary fashion and beauty.
    Join us for a captivating glimpse into the past and a celebration of the dynamic evolution of beauty standards. Don't forget to subscribe and stay tuned for future episodes as we continue our journey through the decades of beauty!

    8:51 DUDES!!!!! why are you tight lacing her in!!!????? This corset was not made for her, and it's a lace up anyways, only lace it till she is comfortable, if she is uncomfortable then the lacing is too tight, it looks like there is room for padding anyways so use padding to fill out the bust and hips 9:49 the fact that she did that hitch in her breathing shows me you guys laced it too tight on her, she shouldn't be doing that. 10:59 "moving all you organs", hahah, you know that is BS, right? your organs don't move around, they might get squished a bit, but they don't move, there is tissue holding your organs in place.

    • @gnostic268
      @gnostic268 5 месяцев назад

      Exactly, only pregnancy moves organs internally, not exterior corsetry.

    This was fascinating. Watching the layers go on makes so much sense for the fashion of the time. It would also be interesting to see how the lower classes dressed at each time zone. With no one to dress them I would think the lower classes dress/fashion was something simpler?

    The reason you don't find a lot of corsets is because they were tailor made and they were worn every day. They were not discarded as a bad memory. They were used until they were worn out. Do we keep our old t-shirt bras? You can find the really superb fancy ones because they were specialty items. Beautiful collection though. What an experience to try these on!

    Very interesting transformations! You keep saying 19th century, though! The 19th century was the 1800's, not the 1900's. Fromm 1900 to 2000 is the 20th century.
