Thanks so much for this. Helped me make sense of the original XDA thread and root has now been completed successfully.
Pretty easy to follow. I let my nerves get the better of me mid way through because I had forgot to unzip the "root" file before I entered download mode, but no biggie. I just left it in download mode and unzipped the file, proceeded as usual. Many many thanks.

andriod manufature really should jus make root process one click...since many ppl just go ahead and root it asap he got it....and that is also a major advantage over iphone i think, sure there is jailbreak....( i have both iphone and andriod, love em both)

That would never happen... They would never put power & control into the user's hands.
Ppl would stop buying headsets & u wouldn't be able to be monitored to a certain extent.
& wouldn't know what to do with a rooted phone, they'd brick it.
Let alone manufacturer Tech Support having to go thru trouble of troubleshooting... It messes with source code, troubleshooting would be difficult for them as they have to get familiar with every Freelance developer's written source code.
Watched your video and noticed when you connected your usb cable @ 5:58 it was upside down from how I plug in mine into my F500L. Didn't think the hardware (usb port) would be different.

I have googled "why root your phone?" and I herd various reasons. Many didn't sound to special.
1: I'm curious why some of you root your phone?
A huge community of smart people do it, so there is probably something I don't realize
2: Once I root, will things get messed up if my mobile provider releases a new update and I accept the update?

guys this works 100% just tried it. I got error on the id it kept saying Fail
to get rd of this you have to be on lollipop and downgrade. Make sure to remove the image when doing so. Then try again it should work
Stuck on an infinite "Security Error" loop. Followed it step by step for LG-H811 and didn't work.
Works on my Sprint LG G4 LS991! After i root my phone, is it okay to delete the system.root image file off my phone? Cuz that 4.25GB-file is a lot of space

Hi, thank you, I rooted the Verizon phone without problems.
Question: How to disable tethering restriction? I have 5.1 android.
Shit happens when I use the phone abroad, with local GSM provider. When I try to turn the tethering (HotSpot) on, it says that I need to contact Verizon. Its not blocked by a local provider, since it works with a different phone(international version). It also did work in US, with Verizon. Very weird - you need to enable some Verizon plan, while working with non-Verizon provider.
Spent about 24 hours of my vacation time trying to find out the solution. Called to Verizon tech support. They have no idea. I am very disappointed how all these companies now are doing their jobs only half way, cutting time and money on testing of their products, leaving it to the customers to discover all these issues and resolve them, or not disclosing about these issues, when I sign up for the service and buying the phone.
I guess, I need to block some process, but I don't know which one.

Problem solved for Lg G4. Go to Settings, General, Apps swipe left to "All" then scroll down to "HOME" not easy home. Open it and clear cache and also "clear data" you will get a warning message when you try to clear data, but that's ok. I was afraid to do this but it works for me, It will only clear and Home screen preference or shortcut you had. You can setup your preferred shortcuts after again. restart and select "Home" as your default. Let me know if this helps

aparently you need to unlock boatloader and downgrade to android 5 before you begin root.

Does anybody know if this works on the LG G4 H815P? I noticed that on one step it said NOT the H815P, but wasn't sure that just meant that I didn't need to run that command on just that step OR if this is not compatible with the H815P.

I am now rooted but I am getting this error message "Unfortunately, Home has stopped" I went to the Apps setting and resets app preference and also clear the home cache but to no effect. i am able to get the simple home setting but not the other advance home setting. please help if you can. I tried this process a dozen times for my LG-H811 T-Mobile. Every time the process works but when it restarts it is the same thing. I check the root and it says no root access.

TWO quick questions: 1) Once LG releases their Mashmallow (I know, Google has to release it first, then LG has to modify it and test it, and THEN carriers will fuddle with it) will it get the update while rooted (which used to just undo root) or will I have to un-root first?
2) any known software issues with WIndows8.1 / windows10? I had to dig up an old windows7 computer to root my samsung tablet, but that computer has since been upgraded to 10..

I did i get the error this application can not some like (0cx000007b) somehting like that . i am on a windows 10 and on a surface tablet

So this doesn't delete all your data like how most roots do?
I have gotten as far as looking for the com port. But it is only showing me one line that is "COM1" nothing else. Any ideas? I im just stuck at the download mode/Firmware Update screen.

Doesnt seem to work anymore I recently restored my G4 and unrooted and wanted to root again to get lucky patcher but when I put in the command for the rooted system img it comes back with a pound sign right away and the type LEAVE and my phone reboots fine but I have no SuperSU also I checked on Root checker and it says its not rooted.

Trying this root methed. At first I was getting failed on id check. The next day I tried different things and when I id checked it shows nothing. The cursor drops down a line and there is blank space. Not one piece of character. I think that is better than failed, but I still need that line of information there before I go any further.
Any idea?
