It’s honestly impressive that Oda is able to make the celestial dragons feel even more evil than before. I didn’t think they could stoop to a lower low and then Oda said “here, hold my genocide hunting tournament”.
I really hope he has something very bad planned for them in the end, as I would not be able to accept any "I changed their mind and we're allies now" ending after all that genocide scale evil.
@@lootjunior I've had this idea of the revolutionaries throwing them off the Red Line. Not only would it be a guaranteed death after a long fall, it would be symbolic to how these self- proclaimed gods would be cast down from the "heavens". It would also be a kinder fate than what most citizens in the One Piece world would do to them, as seen in Doflamingo's backstory.

I'm surprised by the fact that no content creator so far mentioned Kuma's dream to become a hero, like Nika. That was, for me, one of the highlights of the chapter. It's so tragic.
He saved Nika himself in Sabaody, so Kuma did in fact become a hero.

The best part about this whole chapter is God Valley was so hyped for so long and with such big names (Roger, Garp, Rocks, Kaido...)theres, literally nobody had Ivankov on their bingo card being there. Completely outta nowhere- makes sense though as to how they met
Seems like every strong character was there... it's basically marineford but a thousand times better
I imagine that Big Mom could have a bit of the buccaneer DNA if both of her parents passed on a recessive gene for it. That could explain why she was the largest "human" in the series.

Personal Theory: Crocodile was also on God Valley, a slave of the Celestial Dragons, and when everything happened Ivankov helped save him and that’s the “Secret” they held over him in Impel Down. We’ve seen how the Hancock sisters reacted on their memories, so Crocoboy agreeing to help makes sense! Additionally, why else would he want an Ancient weapon, revenge on the World Nobles.

I thought it was a bit odd that Kuma and Ancient robot activated at the same time. I suspected Robot was reacting to Nika but this now puts twist on Kuma - He might be dead but inherited will is still in that body.

I think Kuma’s background with being born into slavery and hope of being saved by the sun god as well as his ties with the bible and christianity being about hope for the suffering is a pretty interesting connection. It’s like that hope of being saved by Nika was cut into his soul and stayed with him to adulthood, including him unknowingly helping the guy who would become Nika.
Franky has been nothing but amazing. He doesn't shy away from fights and will face anyone to protect his captain. He's so underrated

I think the panels where Sanji runs to save Bonney, only to be knocked down and start spluttering blood is a great showcase of Saturns' power. Sanji has recently just went through his transformations and unlocked his dormant power as a Vinsmoke for this to now feel like it's all been stripped away.

Post-TS Franky moments have usually been small or sort of basic on the surface, but in the past two arcs he has single handedly saved both Luffy and Zoro just by being present and having quick thinking (and extendable arms). Definitely shouldn't be understated how absolutely essential he's been, even though we haven't gotten a big Vegapunk-related power up moment many of us thinks he deserves.
If anybody wondered "how could Kuma volunteer to remove his memories and emotions?" Yeah...I'd probably want a lobotomy too after all that.
Buccaneers - one of the three races Big Mom wanted to add in her collection alongside the Giants and the Lunarians.
I don't think the giants are the 3rd one since they're not near extinction like buccaneers and lunarians.

Kuma’s father knowing about Nika and even the specific dance has me thinking that Joyboy was a Buccaneer rather than giant. Still big enough to fit that large hat in Imu’s possession

Sengoku said that Garp doesn’t like to talk about it so i would say he was trying to stop Rocks so they don’t threaten the WG, and it just so happens that maybe Roger helped so he could get the treasures from the tournament. In one chapter you can see that their ships is full of treasures when they find shanks. So Roger was not defending the celestial dragons. About Garp maybe he was but just to protect the marines from Rocks

Great observation on Jinny’s similarity with Atlas. With Saturn making Atlas observe Bonny’s execution it ties everything together.
It’s also interesting that it seems like the Buccaneer race is somehow related to Joyboy/Nika and that they have passed down not only his appearance and his dance but also the Drums of Liberation. Maybe performing the same rhythm will restart gear 5 cause Luffy sort of did it already where he forced his heart to beat to the sounds of the drums. Would also explain why the WG is so anal about making sure no one knows about Nika cause his power source is basically having believers.
Imagine Kuma shows up and uses his paws to compress the air and make the Drums play.

Learning that God Valley Incident was a human hunting competition for the World Nobles, I'm starting to think that Rocks might have been a good guy, well compared to the nobles at least.
As someone already said, Xebec most likely can be compared to Black Beard: a pure evil man that people despise and are scared of. Meanwhile Celestial Dragons are the type of people that makes other people in general lose their hope and trust in humanity. Both are evil, but in a complete different way. And I agree that Celestial Dragon is worse.
Heck kaido saved king and waited for Joyboy, big mom wanted an empire for all races and Whitebeard was nice.. All of them were together with Xebec

His surname "L'Olonais" was also the inspiration, with some adjustments, for the name of "Roronoa Zoro" as Oda confirmed himself in an SBS

Yeah i could easily imagine Whitebeard seeing little Kuma, who reminds him of his younger self, stand up for Kuma, Ivankov and Ginny. Would not surprise me if he gives the kids to a marine rookie which turns out to be Dragon. Meanwhile he has to fend off Garling. After the skirmish Garp would learn from his son that Rocks did not murder all the innocent people and Roger would learn that Whitebeard is an okay dude.

If I had a nickel for every time a break happens when garling appears around the end of the chapter, I’d have two nickels which isn’t much but strange considering that it happened twice.
With the Lunarians, Giants and now this. Joyboy could pretty much be from any race.
But if somehow God Valley is a parallel to Dressrosa I think maybe just maybe Joyboy was a celestial dragon gone rogue.

Imagine Jinny is Atlas and was transformed into one of Vegapunk's satellites after a tragic incident. This could give an entire new meaning to all of the Vegapunk's satellites being different people in Kuma's flashback who had something tragic happen to them and reborn as a satellite. Imagine seeing Shaka or even York as a character in the flashback. This could even tell us why York so desperately wants to be a celestial dragon-- she was originally a slave and was jealous of them.
After seeing kuma's backstory, i truly wonder if ROCKS successfully raiding God valley would have been a bad thing or not
I feel like maybe he wasn’t what we think he is and maybe him, roger and garp were all sort of manipulated into battling each other. Thing about rocks is if he really was super evil then why did whitebeard of all people join his crew? Whitebeard was never evil so why would he be an accomplice to such evil and depravity? Also I think that dragon might actually be the son of rocks and not garp and he took in dragon after him and roger took on rocks. And maybe that’s why roger knew he could trust garp to take in ace and care for him because he saw him do it before with dragon. That would also kinda explain why dragon rejected being like garp and being a marine, he learned of his real past and wanted to finish what his dad started by taking down the celestial dragons and the world government
If they keep Xebec as an actual bad guy. then the most simple explanation is that Xebec had a good goal of overthrowing the WG but at God Valley he didn't care about the people and was going to wipe everyone out so Garp and Roger had to stop him.
I would think it as a sort of "out of the frying pan, into the fire" situation - Rocks simply wanted to usurp Imu as king of the world, and freeing people from slavery isn't included in that from what I have seen/read so far. The only thing pointing to Rocks not being just as evil as Blackbeard, Imu, or the Gorosei is the inclusion of Whitebeard, and even then we see him being mocked for valuing family and comradery over gold and other common treasures. It's entirely possible that Whitebeard held no loyalty to Rocks as a captain and only stayed because it was the only crew (that wasn't Roger's) which would accept him for whatever reason.

Oda has become one of the greatest storytellers of all time.

...listen, there have been 129,864,880 books that have been published since the Gutenberg press was invented. A large number of those have been fictional stories, add to that every other media including video-games, tv shows, movies, manga, comic books, poems and so on...I could bet my life that in this sea of stories there are about a thousand better stories written by better story tellers than Oda. It's just probability.

Honestly, the way Oda has encapsulated the God Valley incident within Kuma’s back story wants to make me give him more time to write the next few chapters.
Seeing Kuma's backstory with other reveals just takes the hype for next chapter to a whole new level.
Is it just me or is Franky just as or more eager than Luffy and Zoro to fight strong people? No matter who it is the dude just laughs and goes “Luffy’s gonna be pirate king why the hell would I care about a yonko/admiral/gorosei”

I love the line about Nika coming and taking you out to sea, where you can be free under the sun. Because that's what Luffy has done for almost everyone on his crew.
Kuma is not my favorite character but he has always been either at the top or near the top of my "most interesting character" list.
God Valley has always been framed in a way to be the place where that dastardly villain Rocks met his end. If Oda turns it around to make us root for him, that is a stroke of pure genius.
And let’s face it, if Rocks is there to kill all those World Nobles while they are slaughtering people for sport, we are ALL rooting for him.
Could be... but what makes this theory fall flat is why would a pirate like Gol D. Roger help the hero of the hero of the Navy fight Rocks if Rocks came to kill Celestial Dragons?
Why indeed. But my guess would be Rocks either a) shows up late and starts killing the world nobles after the islanders are all killed so Roger feels further killing is pointless or B) Rocks shows up and starts killing everyone indiscriminately including innocent islanders so Roger steps in to stop that.
Who knows maybe Roger was even born on God Valley and is trying to protect his home.

Also, this "hunting game" reminds me of the short story "The Most Dangerous Game" by Richard Connell. A big game hunter is washed overboard and he swims to a nearby island for survival, only to disciver that he is being hunted by someone else on the island.

So Saturn says to Frankie " it looks like you're the type of crew that works together" in God Valley we see that he is touching ground so it's safe to assume that the last time Saturn saw a pirate crew was 38 years ago in the last piratecrew he saw was the Rocks Pirates which were known to not work together mind blown🤯🤯🤯

I’m beginning to think that Rocks D. Zebeck might have gone to god valley to stop the weird culling games and was deemed a monster considering who was over there. Of course Garp is the hero meaning he must have helped the dragons in a way that they gave him accolades.
Personally, I think Xebec went there specially to hunt and slaughter Celestial Dragons. He wanted to be the king of the world. So eleminating Celestial Dragons should be one of his targets. That's why he was there to begin with. He must have learned about this insane sports somewhere, and he knew that a bunch of Celestial Dragons will be there. But, assuming he is the parallel of Black Beard, he most likely only cared about his own goal. So his method might be "kill ALL people in this island!" and started to kill marines, Celestial Dragons, God Valley citizens, and slaves indiscriminately. Which is why Roger and Garp decided to fight the Rocks Pirates. That's also why Garp, who hates Celestial Dragons, fought to "protect" those who he hates. He didn't have any other choice. Either letting EVERYONE to die, or protecting EVERYONE including Celestial Dragons.

The part where kuma is laughing and clapping along with his dad, and he gets off-screen shot while his blood spatters on the still laughing kuma's face, before the face transitions to pain. Is going to hit SO HARD when it's animated

I teared up during kumas backstory and i had a feeling of genuine dread and excitement when i saw god valley, this is so good, this is the best arc in a long time especially for lore-piece lovers

I think it’s very interesting how there’s suddenly a new race of Buccaneers who tend to be part-giant when a lot of the theories surrounding the Ancient Kingdom is that it was a kingdom of pirates who were giants. I feel like they might be their direct descendants, which would make sense with their persecution until extinction, and that the Ancient Kingdom was actually one of Buccaneers 🤔
In the next couple of chapters, Ginni or Ivankov discuss “vacations.” Kuma asks where they would want to go on vacation. Kuma finds and eats the Paw Paw fruit he finds on God Valley as they attempt to survive the slave hunt. Then Kuma sends everyone where the three of them want to go to escape God Valley. And that is the origin of Kuma’s “vacation” question he asks everyone he has transported in the series so far
