*NEW TOOL NOT FEATURED* - Check out Ventoy as it is very easy and works on any OS - www.ventoy.net/en/index.html *DISCLAIMER:* There are multiple ways to do Multiboot but I picked YUMI because I need Windows, Linux, and Utilities all within a single USB drive. Many other utilities I found just didn't accomplish this task. YUMI was the best for using both Windows and Linux based systems. I just wanted to showcase you can use some Windows tools like YUMI on Linux without issue.
I have been looking for something that will let me put iso images so I can install any OS or run live images w/o a crazy installer from a USB drive. I tried Easy2Boot which appears to be working but failed mid-install on a server 2019. I am thinking maybe the drive went bad on me. Thoughts?
I used YUMI earlier to create a multiboot USB stick with live distributions of Linux and also live antivirus and software tool environments. It was very easy to use and I highly recommend it.
I was coming down to drop the exact comment, Ventoy works freaking fantastic for me. UEFI and and legacy machines no problems. i tried some common isos so far (debian, arch, mint with persistent storage, ubuntu and windows 10). Im about to venture into making an arch bootable along side all this stuff.
YUMI is "nice", though I prefer MultiBoot or Easy2Boot. Both have been at this for several years now, unlike Yumi which was stuck in legacy until only recently (my original reason for ditching it nearly 10 years ago). Also very nice that both come with system agnostic tools, no need for Wine. And even more "nice", both also add the ability to simply copy an ISO file direct onto the USB drive (into the ISO folder) which is added to the grub menu at boot time - actually makes this whole process a lot easier. Especially Eas2Boot really only needs you to use its tool once, to generate the boot + efi folders and setup its e2b folder containing all the ISOs. After that a normal file copy works. And this works on all the ISO files I've tried, including even W10.
Thanks for the video, Chris! Just found this, as I wanted to make a multi-boot with rescue tools, but be able to update the software. Think of a stick with a Win7 recovery tool, Hiren's Rescue (old but works on some things), the Win10 version of Hiren's Rescue (resurrected by fans); Gparted Rescue, etc. And you can use the stick's memory to save rescued files if it's got enough room also. Plus makes notes on what tools do what on each bootable version.
I really recommend ventoy, it's a simple foss utility that formats the pen drive into a small 16 MB FAT16 partition you don't have to worry about and another exFAT to fill the rest, you can simply drag and drop isos on the exfat partition (no unzipping no programs no nothing, just simple drag and drop) and you will be able to boot off of them, and you can also put other sorts of files on the exfat partiton for general purpose storage so you will be able to use it as a normal pendrive as well as a boot pendrive
Keep in mind though, that PMagic is non-gratis software. It's about $10,- for the infinite use of the software ($31,- if you want 1 year of updates annd access to development builds). Most of it's utility software can be found in GParted Live and Clonezilla Live for free ;)
I am a distro hopper so I'm pretty familiar with this topic. I have 3 computers and about a dozen hard drives, a couple of disk docking stations, a few ssd drives, and several dozen MicroSD cards and thumb drives. Well, I saw your video and I immediately went out and searched the web for a similar program and I won't say which one I chose but I nearly ruined two thumb drives. After using their program to put multiple OSs on thumb drives, they would not boot, even though I tried many attempts to get the right BIOS/uefi settings and grub installations . Then I tried to delete everything and reformat the thumb drives. I couldn't format them because after stumbling around a bit in Linux and Windows 10, I had to use Partman to put a new MBR on the drive. It was the only way I could format them with FAT32. Win 10 was helpless with it.
tiny core Linux distribution runs very well on my 25 year old computer with 128mb of ram so I think you should check this linux distribution out because I want to know what you think about it
As far I windows is concerned using Yumi is the only reason I need Windows at all. I would like you to make a video about creating multi-boot flashdrives with Linux/Ubuntu OS' and never needing Windows again. It's no problem to make a single bootable flash drive with Startup disk creator or and such, but I can't figure how to use MultiBoot Utility with Linux/Ubuntu, it just never seems to work for me. How about do that video, I know Yumi works, but you need a Windows OS, eckkkkkk.
Why dont you tackle PXE booting? I've been using it for a while and it changed a lot how easy it is to just load an OS without constantly formatting usb sticks, this waythere's less wear on them
So with this implementation can you update the environments? In the past I've tried to live off of live usb environments but nothing was ever persistent from boot to boot. Saved files, updates, the like.

Hi ! This video is very interesting, I would like to put a few distros on my new USB drive, but one of them is missing from the Yumi list: Pop OS. Is there a way to add it on the drive anyway?
Hey Chris, greetings! Really nice video. Tks a lot. By the way, how about a basic "step by step" video on btrfs for beginers?? I mean from install to creating the "pools" and doing snapshots. I tried a gui app but no success. I really apreciate your videos and i'll be really glad if you could do as suggested. Be well!
Ventoy - just came across it An open source tool to create bootable USB drive for ISO files, you don't need to format the disk again and again, you just need to copy the iso file to the USB drive and boot it. Both Legacy BIOS and UEFI are supported in the same way
This looks very interesting. I have multiple USBs with different Linux distros on my keychain, so this seems like a super nice option in terms of portability.
i had the same issue just like you.. it cannot copy windows 10 on a fat32 formatted, what I did was formatted the flash drive to ntfs but some installers failed.. i don't know if I did it correctly..
Question: If i want to add a full .iso of RHEL or Oracle Linux to my USB Multiboot, Since they are CentOS based, is it best to choose CentOS as the distribution? If so, which is best to pick, CentOS Live or CentOS Minimal?
Absolutely interesting that something like this exists. Though, I don't see myself using one as most Distros I use on USB are super, super small(like Puppy on a 1GB USB).

Oh, coming from what you stated, I know you'd avoid CentOS Server like the plague. I dl'ed the iso, & it's just over 7 gig in size. Fortunately, at the computer store where I live, they sell 8.5 gig 240 minute 1-8 speed DVD+R dual discs. No need for installing an internal blue-ray drive. About $28.00 for 25 blank discs. They had the last pack on the shelf. I guess they're becoming a feasible substitute over a blue-ray drive & the cost of blank discs.
This is particularity helpful. Back then it dint work well all the time , yumi that is but im sure by now it works like a bomb. Good video. This is very useful. Thanks.
Ive tried it before. I put linux and windows in stick. But when i boot it only work to the last os i put in usb. If i click linux distro it still boot on the last os
hello sir, may i know what is the differences between pendrivelinux yumi vs ventoy? which one is better? sorry for this noob questions, i'm new to this. just want to make sure it can run live linux rather than installation. thank you and have a nice day. :)
I have a toughbook with a couple of drive caddys. I want to make a drive and put about 10 Linux installs on it. Every try that? I wonder if I could do this using yumi? The drive is SATA I thought if I could bring it in through USB it might work what do you think?
This is a good video. My work has been using Yumi legacy boot for a couple years now and we are starting to transition things to UEFI. We are having trouble getting VMware ESXi to boot UEFI using Yumi. We have the latest iso. Any suggestions on a multiboot for UEFI that could include Linux, VMware ESXi, and Windows? Thank you.
Any thoughts why it doesnt let you choose Pop Os? After insertion Create button is greyd out. Somehow it made the Create re appear and be able to press it
Chris, Have you tried this under Linux, it does the same "Ventoy" ? And it's available for Linux, Windows and can be run in liveCD to create Multiple ISO boot usb drive.
Chris. What if down the road you wish to add/remove a distribution. Or say a née version of like Ubuntu comes out need to change it out? Down want to have to remake the stick especially if you’ve customized the menus, yea there’s another topic for u customizing YUMI menus.
Easy2Boot is what I recommend. I have a dedicated USB stick for it, with XP, 7, 10, clonezilla and a couple of linux distros. It's a great tool to have if you work with lots of different computers.
Tried it out right before he uploaded the vid and fell in love with it. I love their mbr partition table hack to have virtual usb sticks within a usb stick. I can now ditch drivedroid and go back to UEFI multibooting ;D
@ XP Corporate keys work just fine, they do not need activation. I don't think anyone would object to using something like DAZ Loader to activate Windows 7 if you have a genuine license for it and need to activate it for whatever reason.
I just posted the same comment, been using it years...so far everything else is just garbage/buggy in compare...HOWEVER I USE AN OLDER VERSION, as the newer ones seem to choke on Win10 installs...so there is that to remember 1.06a or there-a-bouts.

Hi Chris. I regularly watch your channel. Great job!! I'm not a Linux expert though I love it and use it since Ubuntu 5 as just a desktop/laptop user ( so not a coder or hacker here...). I usually have my live USB sticks , Yumi is great, but I don't understand why when I try on a distro with persistence it's so slow, VERY SLOW. I like having my USB and use it on any computer I have to use for that day and keeping all my environment settings and wifi passwords. What can be the problem?
kinda lost with the part where you are showing the legacy bit and booting from it, are they from the same USB drive and from the same distros that you installed using YUMI UEFI? or not?
Hello sir, i am interested in making a multiboot dvd instead of USB. Does this app supports that? If not, do you have some app in mind to recommend for that purpose? Thanks in advance.
I'm using Ventoy now, coming from Yumi. Works great and easier to use. I just dropped ISO in the Ventoy folder and it's good to go. Both Yumi and Ventoy has issues, but so far both works almost the same.
hello mate , excel video , wud u also tell me how i can CLONE hdd /ssd so it boot from most laptops ?(i mever had issue before but since i changed my computer i guess it has different Bios setting so disks im cloning no more boot from other computers ) many thanks
I have a PIPO W3F Dual OS Tablet Windows. Would love to know how to scrub the window and just put linux on it? As the tablet has only 32 gigs of storage so useless for windows. How to boot from USB with a tablet?
I used it for years but its not Legacy + UEFI at the same time. Now i am using AIOBoot, Because it can be boot from Legacy as well as UEFI at the same time.
Before watch the video I thought that maybe it about creating multiboot under Linux... But no, it's about windows tool under wine! If so, why not offer something like easy2boot, it allows to launch .iso file directly, just copy it on flash drive and "enter" in menu and it works.. often works(yeah, with efi, it's require reboot, after "enter"..). But I personally prefer to use iodd's hard drive case that can mount iso and shows itself as regular USB cdrom and works almost on every pc (that supports USB cdrom). With (multi) boot flash, there's anyway some chances that just fail to boot
Suggestion for video | Comparisons on Ventoy vs AIOBoot vs Pendrive vs Easy2boot We want to know if we can use either on USB-Flash drives and also USB-HDD's, Uefi/Efi, linux + Windows etc etc Anyone else, leaning more towards AIOBoot??? Used to love E2B, but Uefi/efi seems to trip that up a bit, Ventoy is a bit hit and miss
There is one problem with YUMI - you need to use fat32 partition to create multiboot USB. But if your windows 10 iso takes more than 4GB (and it does), you can't add that iso to multiboot, because fat32 is restricted by 4GB single file maximum.
Great! Many thanks but does not solve my problem of a thumb-drive that, after formatting, is no longer detected by my Ubuntu pc. It is however detected by my windows 10 laptop. Any suggestions?
UEFI is still in Beta. Wake me up when released. I just don’t bother with slow and faulty USB drives. I use a Zalman enclosure that has virtual cdrom emulation and carry everything in the 2TB HD.

GREAT VIDEO! any chance you can do a video showing how to use this tool to multi boot from a hdd with multiple OS's?
Hey bro, did you figure out how to multi boot from a HDD with multiple OS's? I am looking to do the same with a 2TB External HDD.
Thanks Chris!!
does this mean to create multiple live OS on USB disk or just multi boot installer?
Hello sir, i am interested in making a multiboot dvd instead of USB. Does this app supports that? If not, do you have some app in mind to recommend for that purpose? Thanks in advance.
Wow great video with nice new transitions😉
I see what you did there😅
Many file browsers will allow you to format USB drives directly through the file browser.
I love yumi, i have my ultimate usb stick on me all the time
Very informative Video. Thank you
But will such a USB be bootable in Secure Boot Mode?
i've been using yumi for years now, though there is a new guy in town
how about a vid comparing ventoy and yumi?
I'm using Ventoy now, coming from Yumi. Works great and easier to use. I just dropped ISO in the Ventoy folder and it's good to go. Both Yumi and Ventoy has issues, but so far both works almost the same.
@@markus711 what else have you tested on ventoy?
hello mate , excel video , wud u also tell me how i can CLONE hdd /ssd so it boot from most laptops ?(i mever had issue before but since i changed my computer i guess it has different Bios setting so disks im cloning no more boot from other computers ) many thanks
i have a problem exfat dont work on gparted on usb hhd 7tb
I love Ventoy! Now I have 16 extra USB drives!
One question: it is possible to create multiple win iso but when is going to boot select which ISO you want . Instead of legacy use UEFI ?
Ventoy
What did you search before formatting
cant get more than one distro on usb...When I put another distro on, then it overwrite usb again. Why?
Duuuude that's siiick! 🤯🤯🤯
I have a PIPO W3F Dual OS Tablet Windows. Would love to know how to scrub the window and just put linux on it?
As the tablet has only 32 gigs of storage so useless for windows.
How to boot from USB with a tablet?
depends on the machine but in a case i solved recently but after disabling secure boot in bios it added options for selecting a boot device.
@@emperorSbraz But how to boot from USB with a tablet?
good information and well done video. Thank you for sharing
I used it for years but its not Legacy + UEFI at the same time. Now i am using AIOBoot, Because it can be boot from Legacy as well as UEFI at the same time.
I had issues with Manjaro and Yumi has anyone got any tips or tricks for manjaro
Suggestion for video | Comparisons on Ventoy vs AIOBoot vs Pendrive vs Easy2boot
We want to know if we can use either on USB-Flash drives and also USB-HDD's, Uefi/Efi, linux + Windows etc etc
Anyone else, leaning more towards AIOBoot??? Used to love E2B, but Uefi/efi seems to trip that up a bit, Ventoy is a bit hit and miss
Latest E2B v2 includes UEFI boot menu and Ventoy (Legacy and UEFI).
There is one problem with YUMI - you need to use fat32 partition to create multiboot USB. But if your windows 10 iso takes more than 4GB (and it does), you can't add that iso to multiboot, because fat32 is restricted by 4GB single file maximum.
That's why ventoy is better. It uses exFAT partition.
Yumi has an exfat version that can do >4GB
USB 3.0 are 200/140 Mb read/write
Good job!
Hi is there any performance different for a HDD
how does this compare to ventoy or easy2boot?
Are you making a Ventoy Video?
Does legacy bios work on Mac OS?
