Yea that's what I ended up doing. Actually I was all lined up to swap a 14.5 ohv from the 12 flatty it had when I came across the 20hp v twin....figured more is better :) Looks good there fearless...as it's always a work in progress, you might wanna wrap that exhaust with (lol) exhaust wrap to keep the radiated heat down... Good stuff.
Here's another strange tidbit that happened in my swap.... As soon as I got it running, my neighbor came over and wanted to know what I did because it was a lot quieter than it was with the 12 flatty. He said it wasn't the exhaust note, but mechanical noise quieter. Both had the stock exhausts that they come with too.
+OffRoadWreckin2003 Yea of course I had to test run it with open pipes , that's mandatory! I'm not a big Harley fan but I dig the smaller vtwin (Briggs ,etc) sounds.
Fearless when u r goin backwards on your track that fast when u do a hard turn u r slinging the oil toward the crankcase breather it be the same as if u was mowing on a hill...... Worked on small engines for 25 years
Nice clean install. The exhaust sounds great. That engine really breathes!! I really like your GoPro coverage. I get a feel of what it is like to be actually driving the Murray. A definite upgrade.
Fearless man i just turned 16 and watch all ur videos love them man I actually got the idea to make my lawn mower like urs but it broke and its gone I got to get another and get tips and help from u to make it great
I know I love em that's what I did the first time like I said I watched all of them waiting on u to put more videos on and what have u done to the four wheeler been waiting on that
I think that's so cool I'm doing that same thing with an sst15 John Deere because with that mower it's it's very high off the ground if you look up that model you can see without the deck it's fantastic and it has the hydrostatic rear end in it so it's going to be really fun at on a track I've got a 15 horse on it and I'm going to take the governor off it and we'll see what it can do out there it already cut the grass really fast but I've got two other lawn mowers now thanks for the video and thanks for the ideas now I know what I need to do to get this thing track ready
flathead to ohv.... it's like going from a 250 twin elan or 340 olympic to a 583 formula or 617 mach 1, something you can actually feel and hear the power you're putting down! Doesn't feel like it has to struggle to move around anymore!
Huge fan of you I have an old Sears I'm trying to build right now but I am moding it to fit an old Briggs 16hp horizontal huge engine have to make a hood scoop and brackets to make it fit
Fearless I am such a huge fan! I would love to get a lawn tractor and pulley swap it but my parents won't let me. Anyways I have a great idea for you. I've heard you can find very small turbo for engines like your own and you should turbo charge the murray!
jj graan I donno, forced induction is more effort than its worth. plus I would have to figure out a way to pressurize the oil system to feed the turbo.
now your tractor is just like mine. lol Glad i found your channel, thought i was the only one who did this stuff. i'm in Tennessee, and would also like to thank you for the stickers. keep it up dude
Hey fearless I've been watching your videos for about 3 years and your actually the one who got me started with offroad lawn tractor and I started my bicycle brake handle gas petal got it welded to floor every thing is ready but I'm have trouble hooking it up. I was wondering if you could may a short brief video on who you done it? Thanks
Hey Fearless, do you know how much torque these ohv engines produce? I have a 15.5hp ohv Briggs, not sure if yours is a 14.5 or a 15.5. Love your videos by the way, keep up the good work!!!
Did you check out my vid yet on fixing that problem with the pvc valve cover yet? It shows how to modify the pvc valve cover so it won't puke oil any more by keeping the oil in the motor. That thing is sucking air like crazy man, Is that a stock motor with no porting?
Fearless what pulley swap ratio you running got 2 craftsmans for free engine pulley is a 3 inch but would require 2 much modifications with the clutch to go bigger on the motor what size should i go on the transaxle 2 get some speed without getting belt slippage transaxle pulley is an 8"
FearlessFront (Todd Christopher) I'm working on a mud mower it's craftsman 22.5hp vtwin kohler command but it seems like it's choking itaelf out, running real shitty I've cleaned carb, replaced air filter, fuel filter, cleaned gas tank and new gas lines and tried tweaking with air/gas mixture any advice?! Huge fan
What did you mean by time out I have a 11 horse ohc haven't been ran in a year still trying to get pully off trans axle and I was wondering where to get a different belt not sure if tractor Supply sells larger belts
I propose a fix for the excess pcv oil flow: install a separate pcv breather line with a fuel filter on the end [like the gokart mower]. Leave the plastic on the end. a clear filter will allow you to see oil/grit. Since you push these mower engines to ever higher rpms and g forces, the intake vacuum [BEFORE THE CARB] is a bit higher; a 465cc engine moves alot of air at 4500rpm compared to 3-3600, especially with valve overlap and a free-flowing exhaust. Your air filter's natural restriction may be enough to overwhelm the stock pcv reed valve [in the lifter box beside the carb], drawing more flow than normal.
The way u run this tractor l think u need to gear it up a bit more theres no need to rev that ohv so high it seems like they make power a little lower than the flattys at least with stock cams... I think just another inch bigger on the motor would b perfect and would make the motor last longer... also I wonder if the flat head cam would work on an ohv...?
The tires on it has thick thick tread could that be why....also when I'm in 5th gear and I pop off the clutch the damn thing always catwalks...how do I get it to where it doesn't do that
i have a 25 hp v twin john deer tractor and the only thing i want to do with it is mow the lawn and yard work ! I have a 660 yamaha raptor when I go trail riding !!
That thing sounds so cool with the intake sucking air!
It's pretty normal for an ungoverned engine
Off Road Domonation Yeah it does!
FearlessFront (Todd Christopher) hey one more thing what is the pully ratio on this tractor and how fast does it go
In later vids he sais it goes 20 to 23 mph :)
*Sounds good!!*
But that thing needs a Vtwin :)
Yea that's what I ended up doing.
Actually I was all lined up to swap a 14.5 ohv from the 12 flatty it had when I came across the 20hp v twin....figured more is better :)

Vtwins spund amazing
+OffRoadWreckin2003
Yea of course I had to test run it with open pipes , that's mandatory!
I'm not a big Harley fan but I dig the smaller vtwin (Briggs ,etc) sounds.
I am Dutch and my lownmower runs 21 miles
Cool stuff. That thing moves pretty fast for a first time out.
Fearless when u r goin backwards on your track that fast when u do a hard turn u r slinging the oil toward the crankcase breather it be the same as if u was mowing on a hill...... Worked on small engines for 25 years
Kevin Witt Yep, exactly. With the catch-can on there, it doesn't do it anymore
Cool like your vids alot keepem coming
Nice clean install. The exhaust sounds great. That engine really breathes!! I really like your GoPro coverage. I get a feel of what it is like to be actually driving the Murray. A definite upgrade.
WeldstarCreations Thanks! I like it too! It hauls ass!
So fun to watch your vids, hell, I am 53 years old!
Hell yeah, this guy's nuts!
Fearless man i just turned 16 and watch all ur videos love them man I actually got the idea to make my lawn mower like urs but it broke and its gone I got to get another and get tips and help from u to make it great
Johnathan Ringstaff thanks man, go through some of my older playlists, there's lots of tips/how-to's there
I know I love em that's what I did the first time like I said I watched all of them waiting on u to put more videos on and what have u done to the four wheeler been waiting on that
Johnathan Ringstaff Nothing yet, but I think I'm going to try and fix it
Ok that sounds cool
+FearlessFront (Todd Christopher) what is the pully racio
Sounds good love to see a top speed on the Sears making a Sears my self love to see how fast yours go's
Reminds me of the old Quadrojets when them huge back barrels opened up!!
That thing sounds freaking awesome!
love the vids have you ever thought about some sort of suspension for your mowers, just curious as to how it would work
Sounds like small 4 barrel when on full tilt ,nice build
That's ohv power for you.
Yee Yee.
you have a great area for that stuff!!!!
Sounds fantastic man
flathead to ohv.... it's like going from a 250 twin elan or 340 olympic to a 583 formula or 617 mach 1, something you can actually feel and hear the power you're putting down! Doesn't feel like it has to struggle to move around anymore!
she sure loves air you can definitely here that but she sounds good man but I have a question should I locker my trans axle or not what do you think
Huge fan of you I have an old Sears I'm trying to build right now but I am moding it to fit an old Briggs 16hp horizontal huge engine have to make a hood scoop and brackets to make it fit
Still sounds the same, which is good and mean. Thanks again for the stickers.
this lawnmower is the best!! whats the top speed of it?
Not bad at all can't wait for mud romp with motor swap see how she works under a load
in the mud lol have a great day
Matt Blankenship Thats the next video!
nice have the same motor I am thinking of doing the carb change and air intake thanks for showing that
Fearless I am such a huge fan!
Your right I don't all that much about turbos, it seems like you know more than me, thanks for responding my comment.
jj graan NP!
now your tractor is just like mine. lol Glad i found your channel, thought i was the only one who did this stuff. i'm in Tennessee, and would also like to thank you for the stickers. keep it up dude
Superscott Wyatt You're welcome!
That sounds AWSOME!!!!!!
that was the best sounds from a mower
jeeze ...... all that smoke reminds me of when i went to visit .
Rex4x4 lol! yup! I guess I should have put the catch-can on in the first place!
Looks Good bro
The intake sounded like a small 4bbl opening up! Haha! Good job!
HippyDave57 yeah, kinda does!
+FearlessFront (Todd Christopher) hotrod!!!!
Box cutters make the best screw drivers
Man that intake sounds bad ass!
sounds like a quad haha! thats awesome!
Sounds Great, I hope it holds up!
jim ogle me too!

Countryboy7213 I'll try and do an install video sometime soon
Thanks It would help a lot appreciate man
I watched all your videos....love the Murray....this poulan isn't locked so I have no idea why it won't bog down so it will sling mud help please
whatever happened to that flathead? sorry if I've missed a video with it past this point but love the content
Love it dude I used to have that motor I should of kept it but who cares can always find a new one
I personally like the flat heads better than the ohv! Flat heads are literally invincible! Just my opinion, lol
Is there a part three to this or what's the next video for this particular machine?
I really like what your doing with your tractor, but i think ill keep mine to work arround the yard. Daniel!
Have you thought about putting a set of rear dual tires on any of your mowers
Hey Fearless, do you know how much torque these ohv engines produce? I have a 15.5hp ohv Briggs, not sure if yours is a 14.5 or a 15.5. Love your videos by the way, keep up the good work!!!

Hey fearless, your videos are awesome man, keep it up, need more tho haha
Bad ass I love the new update and videos
Hey Todd I love the sears and all ur videos they help me out a lot I wish I could meet u and wish I could lock my transaxle
Levi Ashbrook Welp, I live in Maine, drop in if you're ever in the area
Ha-ha I second the turbo charged idea!
Sounds awesome
I was wondering were u get your kids tires at bc I can't find any that more possible fit on my lawn mower
Hey when do you think you will take it through the mud again? And could you do a video on taking a starter off of the Murray
?
nice mower and where did you get the knife at
Fearless what pulley swap ratio you running got 2 craftsmans for free engine pulley is a 3 inch but would require 2 much modifications with the clutch to go bigger on the motor what size should i go on the transaxle 2 get some speed without getting belt slippage transaxle pulley is an 8"
that sound is awsome
that speedometer app is awesome I used it to figure how fast my mower went and it read the same as a police speed gun
Sounds great.
Huge fan
good job FearlessFront (Todd Christopher)
Hey Fearlessfront i wonder how mean that murrey would be if it had a v twin with in its body
What did you mean by time out I have a 11 horse ohc haven't been ran in a year still trying to get pully off trans axle and I was wondering where to get a different belt not sure if tractor Supply sells larger belts
I've never owned one before but would love to
I propose a fix for the excess pcv oil flow: install a separate pcv breather line with a fuel filter on the end [like the gokart mower]. Hey FearlessFront (Todd Christopher) where do you get your transaxle pullys because I need a half inch one or a little bigger
Have you ever thought about putting a briggs v twin on the murray?
you should re-do the truck pull test with the new engine
What is the spark plug gap your running in your ohv briggs.
That sound *_* ;)
When u stopped to put the wired mic on the stock throttle location, I honestly thought the murray still had the 12.5hp engine not the 14.5 hp ohv
lol I thought I was the only guy who did this too with my modified crafts lolololol
Just getting into the lawn mower customization thing, How did you manage to be able to change gears?
Thanks
The way u run this tractor l think u need to gear it up a bit more theres no need to rev that ohv so high it seems like they make power a little lower than the flattys at least with stock cams... I think just another inch bigger on the motor would b perfect and would make the motor last longer... also I wonder if the flat head cam would work on an ohv...?
lookin good man
my ohv 14.5 it didn't like to be bounced alot or high revved for long periods of time when it did it smoked just like that
damn thats sound AWSOME and what a freakin awsome video love it it alot i have the same mower as u but its stock i wanna upgraded so it will go faster
sounds awesome is what it sounds like Lol nice tractor BTW
Cool man she will do about 21mpb i got the same set up. And know you can mod the motor it being ohv
I have a Murray like yours and it gos 30mph
It has the 16hp flat head
sounds like my wheeler intake with the K&N filter and airbox lid off
nice
#fearlessfront do u still have the one mtd that had the wicked straight pipe coming off the motor
Fearless....umm I have a poulan mower...i cant get it to sling mud....I'll try to and the tires I guess get to much traction..idk help
Hey fearlessfront do you still have your fourweeler the blue one if you do would u be interested in saleing it?
Sounds horrendous? More like awesome!
you really have a nice channel I'm subscribed to you.
We need a video of your shed that you started building. Any link to plans you followed? Show us a video.
what are those things called that you used to pinch your throttle cable together at carb?
you need to build a banked oval ,like a small dirt track .how about a home built track buggy ?
Have you ever thought of making a pully system with 2 belts double the traction???
I want to see what u have been doing with the 4 wheeler
Jason Wian,Jr. Nothing yet, but I think I am going to try ad fix it
That's awesome
hey fearlessfront do you still have any fearless stickers
The tires on it has thick thick tread could that be why....also when I'm in 5th gear and I pop off the clutch the damn thing always catwalks...how do I get it to where it doesn't do that
Dang yah gotta mow that track
Are you going to do another video on the atv
i have a 25 hp v twin john deer tractor and the only thing i want to do with it is mow the lawn and yard work ! I have a 660 yamaha raptor when I go trail riding !!
looks like you need to rake that track make it smoother use a bar and chainlink with blocks tyed on it
Crayz_daves Build I need a york rake!
Did you put your 12hp carb on the 14hp ohv? If so it might be the wrong cfm. That would explain the random air sucking sound.
+Travis Piper I think he's using a 17hp carb so I dont think it would be that.
Harry Legg Ok, wasn't sure.
it's prob just cuz intake is so open there's no air flow reduction. I can hear the same thing on my car
He has a K&N on it.
How did you get that tractor so fast
Do u still have stickers FearlessFront (Todd Christopher)
