I think this was their best album ever! Was just getting into metal shortly before this came out when I was 14. Borrowed the album off my friend and it just blew my mind!
@@briansauer6695 with Maiden there is a curse. The first album you listen to is the best forever ;) For me it was Killers, and Seventh son. Up the Irons Bro!
I’m 61 and became an Iron Maiden fan late. Lucky to see them in recent tours. Crazy live shows! Every song tells a story. Number of the Beast, Power Slave. Up the Irons!
It's always been my favourite Maiden song, even though it was like 5th one I've heard (after Trooper, 2 Minutes to Midnight, Number of the Beast). It has a special place in my heart and always will. Love hearing the riff, love playing the riff, just epic.
Oh my god this is great, I've followed this band since 1980. I get goosebumps every time i hear them. I've seen them 5 times over the years. They are even better live than recorded. I'm telling you go see this incredible band while they have the energy to perform. I can honestly say they have got better over the years. Seeing them live is an amazing experience. We've grown old together!!
Might want to explore Dio. "Last in Line". The vocals and instrumentation are insane. Ronnie James Dio -- So much power packed into that little dude. Enjoy!
@@archstanton1161 My favorite, would be Die Young. Perfect Sabbath w/ Dio (so powerful!). Falling Off... You can really hear the beginning of what Ronnie would do w/ band Dio, ya? -- Great motto -- "Live for today..."! :))
Pretty much all his stuff is epic and crunching! Saw him live for the first time in '87 or '88 on the Dream Evil tour. Blew my mind! First concert was Maiden and Twisted Sister in '84. Couldn't really say which one was better, but out of the hundreds of concerts I've been to over the years, these two would be at the top!
Revelations is one of my all time favorite Maiden songs. For some reason it gets overlooked alot. I go into a trance when i listen to it. The outside world shuts off for me.
@@nem447 Yep... I met them at a chain record store called "The Record Factory" the afternoon before the show in Sacramento, Ca. at the Memorial Auditorium.
Back in the 80's...........Maiden was my BMX adrenaline rev up music waiting for the gate.......I certainly got my arse pedaling with this in my head! Best metal band of all time..............blows Metalica's doors off by a long shot.
I always love seeing anyone who has never heard it react to this song. It's one of my favorites. I've been an Iron Maiden fan since 1981 when this album came out. It was the first cassette tape I ever bought and I blasted Number of the Beast through the whole neighborhood.
Soooooo happy you finally picked this one! My favorite Maiden song by far. Gotta agree with the comments that Wasted Years is a definite contender, but you really need to see/hear Iron Maiden live to really feel what they are capable of. Up the Irons!!!!!!
Finally! Great react! The best metal song in the best album of Iron Maiden and the best line up. Clive Burr (gone, but not forgotten) was one of the best drummers ever! Up the Irons!
"Lost in the Sauce," for me, comes when I listen to these two songs. "Alexander the Great," and "Wasted Years," both from Iron Maiden. As always, love the video! Keep up the great work, guys!
Steve Harris is the MAN. One of the greatest songwriters in Metal and music in general. No one could touch Iron Maiden from 80 to 85. Next Track? Phantom Of The Opera.
Watch the Iron Maiden documentary "Flight of 666" you will come away with a new respect for the band. Not saying you don't already have that. The film just shows how hard they work at their craft yet have fun along the way. Also it sheds a light on the roadies and support staff that makes it all happen.
Beautiful!! So happy you tackled Maiden! Their first 3 albums that includes this one ('The Number of the Beast' LP) are the absolute classic and best. 'Killers' and 'The Number of the Beast' tours are 2 of the best concerts I've ever seen. Check out the earlier 2 albums with Paul Di'Anno as singer. I think you'll enjoy those, too.
Widely recognized as one of the greatest Metal songs ever. Glad you two enjoyed it. This was during their classic era, but I would recommend "Dance of Death" from their modern era. It's my favorite post-2000 song of theirs. The studio version is great, and there is also a really great live version on the "En Vivo" concert DVD (also on RUclips).
Great song - my favorites from Iron Maiden ... lost in the sauce ... Die with your Boots On, Flight of Icarus, Revelations, Powerslave, Rime of the Ancient Mariner
Up the Irons boys. Great stuff, of course. Prior to Iron Maiden coming on the stage the last song played on the speaker system, signifying this is it, the beginning of the show- is UFO Doctor Doctor. Steve Harris is a big UFO fan and they had a huge influence on Maiden. Thought I'd throw that in for free since UFO Rock Bottom was recently done.
1 of my all time favorite songs of my favorite band! Just saw them live last week for the 1st time ever! Best show ever!... To Tame a Land is another favorite of mine as well as Deja Vu, Wasted Years, Lonliness of the Long Distance Runner, 7th Son of a 7th Son, Powerslave etc etc never ending list

I love your channel guys! I’m in my 50s and it gets me pumped to see you guys have the same mind-blown reaction that I had when I first listened to. A lot of these songs way back in the 80’s. I saw Iron Maiden live on this tour and the 4 tours following it, their live show was incredible. One suggestion for you guys, you made a spot on perfect observation that musically they always nail it. Harris, Murray and Smith were like a walking Metal philharmonic. Have a listen to some of the stuff from their first two albums before Number of the Beast. They had a different singer, and a slightly different vibe (I actually prefer those first two albums) it’s a bit more raw, slightly less refined but the same type of reach-through-your-headphones-grab-you-by-the-face-melt-your-brain effect. If you like Hallowed be Thy Name, I suggest Phantom of the Opera. Similar sort of symphonic arrangement, but again, a little more gritty and unrefined. Phantom is my all time favorite Maiden song and I don’t think Paul DiAnno gets the respect he deserves. What they were doing at that time with him was nothing short of revolutionary.
One song that "I get lost in the sauce" is Aces High by Iron Maiden. I absolutely love the chorus of this song. If you do decide to react to this song please do the Live After Death version with the Winston Churchill speech. It adds to the atmosphere of the song.
I knew this reaction would come along one day, so I watched and waited patiently, better late than never, he-he. I suggest you react to some live versions, everything you need to know about Iron Maiden is onstage!
lol I didn't mean this song per say, there are plenty of other great live performances of Maiden songs you haven't heard yet, but that 82 version I see peeps mention is a doozie.
I've been listening to 'Maiden since 1985, when my first college roommate Roy from mid state Michigan, the most badass rockin' farm boy ever, brought a monster stereo to our dorm room and "Peace of Mind" album from 1983. We just about wore that disc out on his turntable. And so, the 'Maiden song with the 'Sauce' is, and always will be: "Where Eagles Dare." Rips from literally the intro drum riff to the last four-count to conclude it: dah-dah-dah DAH! You owe it to yourselves....and a tip of my hat to old Roy.
This was so worth the wait. I knew it was only a matter of time before you took the plunge and did this. Totally awesome reaction guys. You do realise your lives will never be the same now you've heard Hallowed Be Thy Name. There's no going back now. Your well and truly hooked. 😀
when i think of quintessential iron maiden, the first song i think of is phantom of the opera. i coached high school wrestling for 10 years. i played phantom of the opera for our entrance music one match, and my team absolutely loved it! they kept requesting me to play it.
For most of us Iron Maiden fans this song is the pinnacle. I first saw them in !982 opening for the Scorpions and again a few months later as the main act. And about 10 times after that. They are true professionals, never a bad show and they sound perfect every time.
@@hoopsmccann639 i agree there, even when it comes on now, i always immediately think, how is this not more talked about? I think it's because "7SOA7S", was probably the first and probably only album they got fan backlash from. There's pretty reputable people, radio DJ's, musicians etc., that called it the bon jovi album that maiden did. And it's all because of "Can i play with madness". It was pretty clearly a bit of a lackluster shot at radio and MTV play. It sounds a bit like a different band. Even more recent songs like "Blood Brothers", "the Wickerman", "Different World", have catchy and original melodies that make some songs addicting, but closer to the "Wasted Years" feel than a "Can I play with madness" thing. They are different but sound like something they would've released before :7 son.,," ..And are beloved live songs all the way up to now. I went to 4 maiden concerts in my life all since the summer of 2010 and never once heard ANY song off of "7th son"...Im sure they've played it live in the late 80s at least some. But i think they try to avoid it not too long after.
@@davidtokash4701 good point! when i first started listening to maiden (1990), "bring your daughter to the slaughter" was the first song i heard. as a 9 year old who's favorite band was skid row, i thought it was alright. then i heard "can i play with madness," and i didn't listen to iron maiden again til i was 16 and started riding around with my friends who had older maiden on cd. i was shocked to hear songs like "rime of the ancient mariner," "hallowed be thy name," and "22 acacia avenue." i never knew they were that good and regretted not seeking out more maiden before that point. and it was all because of how bad "can i play with madness" was. i've been to a bunch of maiden shows, also don't recall hearing songs from seventh son, but maybe "the evil that men do."
@@hoopsmccann639 That one's a possibility. I think if they wanted they could just go into "Infinite Dreams" live at one of their shows, without Bruce giving it an intro and naming it. I have a feeling it would go over quite well. Im conflicted on actually a few songs on "7th son...". Moonchild for example has an incredibly cool intro and instrumentals but also for me has spots where a certain tone or transition doesnt fit for me, and the lyrics arent the caliber of Steve Harris in the zone, or even Dlckinson's less frequent zone in writing. But "Infinite Dreams" though is IMO, up there around "Two Minutes.." and at least half of the "Piece of Mind" album, but not quite "NOTB" level which is still peak maiden.
@@rschmidt9495 it's a top 5 maiden song for sure. i commented about the underrated songs on another comment, but didn't include this gem because everyone i know has it in their top 10.
@@hoopsmccann639 Interesting, I almost never hear anyone mention it. In fact it took me a while to even "discover" it, even though I've been a Maiden fan for long time. Good stuff.
This is Maiden at their finest. Metal as well. Solid 10. --- Happy you guys were blown away. For, me... This brings up a lot of the bad banger days. Women were not treated so kindly by some men, when listening some Metal. To see joy on your faces helps! Thanks A&A. Great day to you. :)
I saw them twice on their first tour with Bruce Dickenson and the Number of the Beast tour, and this song was definitely one of the highlights! Props to original drummer Clive Burr, who was a hell of a drummer! This song proves it.
I love the reaction videos. Like this I forgot how much I loved Iron maiden ! Awesome. Plus I love watching today's youth discover it . Our generation had the best music. Today's music doesn't have the talent that they did in the 80's & 90's computers do most the work. And the 60's & 70' s were like the pioneers . But the 80's & 90's. We're the perfection of that pioneering. And today is the falling away from it.. It don't get much better than maiden !
Caught Somewhere In Time Seventh Son of a Seventh Son Phantom of the Opera To Tame a Land Alexander The Great Wrath Child Fear of The Dark All by Iron Maiden
Guys, this is not a Maiden tune but, if you like an epic guitar solo, and I'm guessing you do, give a listen to Watermelon in Easter Hay from Joe's Garage by Frank Zappa when you're in an appropriate state of mind x
Hey guys I was watching another guy doing this same stuff you do and he talked about you two how you listen to music that you never hard before you guys are famous on the net congratulations this is a good thing you started a Trend there are other people doing it too :)
Iron maiden, the best backup band I've ever seen. Lol. Saw them back up Judas priest many many years ago. Back when crazy Eddie (and myself) was just a young punk.... Awesome show! ☮️
If you decide to explore Maiden you better pay some attention to the Di'Anno era which covers the first two albums. Definitely more punky and gritty. Very different albums to say the least, but the songs are amazing! Here, I'd like to point out Phantom of the Opera (live at Rainbow!) as the main card. Trust me. Check it out! If you decide to check out the rest of Iron Maiden, I would definitely check out Fear of the Dark (yes, live again!) and Afraid to Shoot Strangers.
Everytime I've seen Maiden the place has been bouncing with so much energy and you think it can't get any higher that this and then this starts, from the first bell the level of the energy in the crowd jumps up to another level.
Steve Harris is the main songwriter so of course his bass lines are going to be jamming. When they play live, you can see Steve Harris mouthing the lyrics word for word since he typically writes the lyrics.
Possibly one of the best songs ever. My first concert ever in 1985 on The Powerslave Tour. Epic Iron Maiden here. SO glad you guys are getting turned onto the same music that changed my life when I was a teenager. Check out "Where Eagles Dare" off of Piece of Mind album. Thats the best Maiden album Imo
That was great guys. The look on your faces starting at 2:35 was priceless. For me Revelations is the sauce song. 😉 One of Bruce’s best vocal performances in my opinion.
I would really like to listen to your opinion on the early Maidens stuff. "Phantom of the Opera" is a great sample of their early days. Please react to early Iron Maiden with Paul Di Anno in vocals.Total pure New wave of British Heavy Metal.
One favor please, if I may. Please just don't give me a hearted comment, and I don't want you guys to react to no song either. I just want you guys to listen to this same song live! Listen to the "Live After Death concert version" and if you can find the video will be best!! There are some Maiden songs that are better live. This is one of them!!
Amazing song and great reaction. As for lost in the sauce, check out Flash of the Blade. That's one that virtually nobody has reacted to and the intro will drag you in. If you're looking for another banger, take about 11 minutes and check out the first three tracks on Operation: Mindcrime. If you like songwriting and storytelling Queensryche will blow you away on that album. Three tracks will give you enough of the story that you won't be able to walk away. ;)
Been listening to them since Powerslave (released while I was in High School) I get lost in their albums. Got to see them in Germany 87. They are just as awesome live!!

Thanks for reminding me to ad Iron Maiden to my "Dance like nobody's watching" playlist to rock out to while waiting for the bus to and from work :)
Maiden-
Alexander the great
22 acacia ave.
Where eagles dare
Be quick or be dead
Fear of the dark
Brave new world
For most of us Iron Maiden fans this song is the pinnacle. I first saw them in !982 opening for the Scorpions and again a few months later as the main act. And about 10 times after that. They are true professionals, never a bad show and they sound perfect every time.
UP THE IRONS! This is probably-arguably Maiden´s finest... but it´s a tough call!
jutta popp Rime for me 💪
I think it's a tie between this and Empire of the Clouds
@@alihijazi4451 - for me it´s this or "Run to the Hills"... though, I could ALSO nominate many others, lol
Infinite Dreams and Seventh Son of A Seventh Son!! Please! The entire album really but those two esp!
@Chad Fortman infinite dreams is very underrated! if that isn't the most underrated, maybe the duelists is.
The ENTIRE Seventh Son album is absolutely AMAZING....!!!!
But "Infinite Dreams" though is IMO, up there around "Two Minutes.." and at least half of the "Piece of Mind" album, but not quite "NOTB" level which is still peak maiden.
learning world history through the eyes of Iron Maiden one song at a time. Maiden!!!!
The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner
This is probably their most underrated song, imho. The melodies are brilliant.
Good stuff.
I saw Maiden back in '83 for the Piece of Mind tour, and this is still probably my favorite maiden song.
Queensryche Operation Mindcrime ... a classic concept album must listen.
Caught Somewhere In Time
Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
Phantom of the Opera
To Tame a Land
Alexander The Great
Wrath Child
Fear of The Dark
All by Iron Maiden
I’ve seen this band 5 or 6 times over the years. They are amazing live. Bruce’s voice is so powerful.
@Lynn Bonfiglio
Oh wow could you comment the link to the vid so I could see it? I’m interested, thank you! 🔥
Iron maiden, the best backup band I've ever seen. Lol. Saw them back up Judas priest many many years ago. Back when crazy Eddie (and myself) was just a young punk.... Awesome show! ☮️
I was there also John !
@@blackfender100 Excellent show
This song is such a ride!
Iron Maiden's lead vocal said if there is a song which represents Maiden would be Phantom of the opera.
Try it on for size
If you decide to explore Maiden you better pay some attention to the Di'Anno era which covers the first two albums. Definitely more punky and gritty. Very different albums to say the least, but the songs are amazing! Here, I'd like to point out Phantom of the Opera (live at Rainbow!) as the main card. Trust me. Check it out!
If you decide to check out the rest of Iron Maiden, I would definitely check out Fear of the Dark (yes, live again!) and Afraid to Shoot Strangers.
My favorite song from them. You must hear the live version. Oh my God.
A great reaction guys but if you loved this one wait till you hear ACES HIGH, that song will blow your mind.
Everytime I've seen Maiden the place has been bouncing with so much energy and you think it can't get any higher that this and then this starts, from the first bell the level of the energy in the crowd jumps up to another level.
SAVATAGE - When the Crowds are Gone
cheers!
Or Gutter Ballet...
Oh my God, yes! Savatage is easily the most underrated band of all time.
In agreement w John Duval "22 Acacia Ave" is the sleeper banger on this album - check it out next for sure !!!
Budgie-Breadfan 1971
Damn rights👍
Steve Harris is the main songwriter so of course his bass lines are going to be jamming. When they play live, you can see Steve Harris mouthing the lyrics word for word since he typically writes the lyrics.
Iron maiden lost in the sauce is either Pachendale, Alexander the Great or Powerslave
Thats the best Maiden album Imo
there are many lost in the sauce by maiden but i think you should get ride of Alexander the Great up next. this is unimaginable.
That was great guys. The look on your faces starting at 2:35 was priceless.
For me Revelations is the sauce song. 😉
One of Bruce’s best vocal performances in my opinion.
You should bring back Queen reactions weekly. And as an idea, maybe upload on Sundays and call it "Lazing on a Sunday afternoon".
I see what you did there. Clever!
Queen is ALWAYS a good idea.
I would really like to listen to your opinion on the early Maidens stuff. "Phantom of the Opera" is a great sample of their early days. Please react to early Iron Maiden with Paul Di Anno in vocals.Total pure New wave of British Heavy Metal.
Phantom of the opera is epic
One favor please, if I may.
Please just don't give me a hearted comment, and I don't want you guys to react to no song either. I just want you guys to listen to this same song live! Listen to the "Live After Death concert version" and if you can find the video will be best!!
There are some Maiden songs that are better live. This is one of them!!
I grew up in the 80's with a couple of dude's that look like you. Thanks for bringing me back with this song. Great reaction!!!
Three tracks will give you enough of the story that you won't be able to walk away. ;)
Yes. QUEENSRYCHE "OPERATION MINDCRIME." They should do an album reaction to that bad boy. After all, it is a concept album. Total epic masterpiece
"But this one goes to 11"
You should get this reference now
Buckethead - soothsayer ( live @ the Gothic )
Been listening to them since Powerslave (released while I was in High School) I get lost in their albums. Got to see them in Germany 87. They are just as awesome live!!
React to .. 22 Acacia Avenue from the same epic album .
SO glad you checked this one out! I knew you would love it!
This one and revelations and where eagles dare and still life.
