    These are the cymbals I was looking for, I kept remembering "blue 2002 flat rides" in my head.

    Those rides are sneakily quiet until you smash em then give just enough room fill. Doesn't hurt that you play so well. The tuning you have on the drums really compliments the sound. Thanks for the sharing that

    Amazing playing, really enjoyed that. Got my first 602 (60's 24" medium) a couple of months back and it's absolutely the one. Deeply musical wall of sound and feels really alive. And these things are so versatile, you get a wide range of textures out of them. That 602 along with 14" kerope hats are the staple cymbals I know I'll never think of selling and look forward to passing to my future kids

    Great playing and great video. As everyone here, I'm a huge fan of flat rides. Currently own a 20" Paiste 602 flat ride and just picked up a cool Istanbul Agop 20" Vezir flat ride. Much darker and heavier than the Paiste. But they compliment each other nicely.

    Probably Much like you, I heard - now he sings / now he sobs, and I wanted that sound. So I went to get a 602 18” flat, and I was at the Chicago music exchange and played a 2002 20” flat, which I would NEVER logically buy. The little extra brightness livened that cymbal up but stays articulate like flats should.
    It’s a jazz miracle. The crazy 2002 flat ride that just works so well for combo scenarios!

    Great sound. I'm a Paiste guy too, but never shy from good deals on cymbals of any brand. This is how I ended up with my vintage 60's era Zildjian 24" heavy flat tide. Awesome, but can certainly see and hear the difference in the mediums and lights. I'm sold.

    Really fine playing and great sounding Paistes!
    I remember thirty years ago here in Vancouver (Canada) there was a large music store chain that had two 20" Paiste Sound Creation 20" flat rides. The cymbals had their prices lowered and lowered but no one was interested in them. One day I went in and the rides were being blown out at $99 each! Of course I picked one up (and should have bought the other one, too!) and absolutely loved using it. Apparently the original guy who ordered the two cymbals put a down payment on ordering the pair of flat rides because he wanted that Paul Wertico sound... but when both cymbals finally arrived from their special order status (six+ months of waiting!) the guy could no longer afford them. When I stopped playing drum kit in the early 2000's I sold it to a guy who was specifically looking for a Paiste flat top ride and he loved it!

    Nice. I use a Paiste Thin 602 18" and a 2002 Flat 18 with 4 rivets....Tried 20/22, but like the smaller footprint much better. Find very little difference tonality with the downsize. Like yourself, I am a complete 'flat rider'. Have not owned a ride with a bell in years. If bell is needed, I use crash cymbal bells (Giant Beat 18/Sig Mellow crashes). Have been thinking of adding a Masters Dark ride (20"), unless Paiste could make an 18" at same cost.
    Nice Playing!

    71-72 could not find a pleasing ride from a well known co.A self proclaimed "jazz freak" suggested this 20% more expensive unknown to me at the time 602, 20" flat ride. Love at first sound, bought it on the spot

    Nice sounding cymbals, superb stick definition, excellent drumming, in my original fo602 set there is a 20 flat ride plus one 2002 BL 18 flat ride, would like to try also the traditional sign. in say 22 size for good measure😊

    Great playing, I don't have a flat ride but I'm starting to think a Paiste flat ride might be the way to go.
    My favorite flat ride moment is in Phish "Harry Hood" on the album A Live One Jon Fishman uses a Zildjian flat ride with rivets, the part I'm talking about starts around 5:40 if you want to check it out

    Great playing! I love how well that thin flatride crashes. The two flatrides you have complement each other so well. I've always been a big fan of flatrides from Pat Metheny's albums. Paul Wertico's 22" Sound Creation Dark Flatride is my holy grail, which was his main flatride on the Pat Metheny Group albums from Still Life (Talking) through We Live Here. It has a bit more weight and a lot of shimmer.

      It's a modern kit (2010's - Monroe, NC) with an 18x12" bass drum - the 12" depth of the bass drum is where the name "Jazzette" comes from.

    niceee... great sounding kit man and very nice playing. good timing. btw.... what do you think about a Paiste 602 medium flat ride? (approx 1750g)... I cant get the thin nowhere but i can get a medium from the 70s in good condition. What do you think?

    • @JH_Drums
      @JH_Drums  11 месяцев назад

      Go for it! I love both of mine but tend to favor the medium a bit more since it's perfect for quartet/quintet music. Thin is great for trio!

    • @najnacisi
      @najnacisi 11 месяцев назад

      I still havent gpt a band and I will first practice more.. so my biggest question is... which Flat Ride do you find is most pleasant for the ears and is there really difference in loudness between a Medium Flat Ride 18" and Thin Flat Ride 18" or is the difference not so big? So all in all, firstly I look for a pleasant flat cymbal for my ears for home practice (without any earplugs or headphones). What do you think?

    John..do you fell there is much of a different voice between the 18 and 20"? I have an 18" thin and often thought of getting a 20" medium (ALL PAISTE, of course). However, held back because I thought I would not hear much difference between them in tone etc. Hard to tell in the video..

    • @JH_Drums
      @JH_Drums  Год назад

      Best thing to do is try some out for yourself! Personally, I hear a big difference between the 18 and 20, but every cymbal is unique.
