  • This is an explanation about how to survive while doing the passenger rescue missions from systems under attack from Thargoids.
    Here are the suggested builds:
    Minimal Orca: s.orbis.zone/l3w-
    Meta Orca: s.orbis.zone/l3w_
    Clipper: s.orbis.zone/l3x6

    Check for large landing pads! So I engineered an orca and few to a Invasion site. My mistake was not checking for a large landing pad, Anyhow I managed to find a nearby recovering port and was able to fly evacuation missions to a rescue ship. This was what I needed to see to run these missions, the fast boost on the engineered Orca and the heat sinks work great, Thx.

      Hello again William, many thanks for your offer of help .. I would take you up on that offer if it was not for the fact that I am some 22K LY away from the bubble ATM, in Colonia. Very best regards, Mike - CMDR [BRAVO 2 ZERO]. I have a great respect for Hugh Jardon and I also like his laid back style and the level of detail he provides in his commentry.

    Nice one mate. Just jumping back into ED after a while away. Gonna try these rescue missions with my Python, see how I get on.

      Only use a Python if it has level 5 Dirty drag drives, otherwise it'll be too slow.
      P.S. I like tabs.

    I might lose 2 Pax to pick up the super-cruise assist. Do the hair on fire trick to get to stations quicker and reduce the chance of interdiction.

      I think that's a good idea because I nearly always had at least 2 spare seats due to the number of passengers never being able to add up to 96.

    Tried it with the Type 7 two times and it was a massacre. The first time i survived 2 interdictions but when i got out with 140 passengers i got blown up again. Type 7 and low heat doesnt really work and my power plant also shutted down 2 times. Might wanna buy an Orca now.

    is that easy?? they killed me 7 times when i tried launching the heatskin on the middle of the frameshift

    • @hughjardon3538
      @hughjardon3538  Год назад

      I discovered that when I used a heatsink during the FSD jump into a Thargoid system, the chance of a hyperdiction was significantly reduced; however; I posted that on Reddit, and, mysteriously, it stopped working the next day. It could be coincidence.Maybe I was just extremely lucky before. Either way, it doesn't seem to work now, but you'll be OK as long as you use an Orca with thrusters engineered to at least level 2 dirty drag drives.
      I did many rescue missions.I also used the same ship to farm materials in the maelstrom, where I was getting interdicted up to 12 times on each trip. The Thargoids can never land a shot on a ship that fast, and it can always escape unharmed. Heatsinks aren't necessary for a ship that fast, but they become increasingly more necessary for ships with lower boost speed as the boost speed decreases.

    I just tried to do a rescue mission and got Hyperdicted going into the system. Had heatsinks which were deployed ASAP (took me to 0C). But I got wrecked within 30 seconds whilst trying to escape 😂

      It's weird. The first two days that I used heatsinks during the jump, I had nearly 100% success. I mentioned it a couple of times on Reddit, then the next day, it didn't work anymore.
      To do the rescues, you must use a ship with at least 550 m/s to be safe. When you get interdicted or hyperdicted, immediately boost. If your ship is too slow, you must drop a heatsink because Thargoids can't see cold ships.
      Orca, Clipper or Krait Phantom are the only ships I'd use.

    Are you silent running? If not, would it be any better?

    • @hughjardon3538
      @hughjardon3538  Год назад

      That's a good question. I'm not silent running. AFAIK, silent running is not available in supercruise, but I never tried it.
      It's not necessary in normal space (not supercruise) unless the Thargoids are actually attacking the station. Also, silent running reduces the heat signature, but they never told us by how much. With heatsinks, you can see what your heat is. I would have thought that with silent running your heat signature would always be lower than your actual heat, so silent running should, in theory, be better.

      You can also use the same Orca to farm the materials in the maelstrom. You need to fit a beam laserwith long-ranfe modification to the class 3 slot so that you can blow up caustic generators. The method is describedhere, though his choice of ship is very qustionable.
