    This ship is still my favourite. First thing I wanted to buy out of a Sidey just because it looked so different and sleek compared to all the other small ships.
    Accidently selected a 10,000LY tour with out reading it properly; and didn't realise the real scale of it untill I was about 100 jumps in.
    I had the most incredible trip. First neutron star, first biologicals, first everything. Not to mention the exploration data when I returned. Best mistake I made in ED! (Also learned never to go out again without an AFMU. Returned to the bubble with my FS drive at 62% and malfunctioning pretty badly)
    o7 you legend.

    Dolphin is my main ship, even well after having acquired the T9 and anaconda. It's nimble, It's a good jumper, It's got some of the best internals on any small ship, and it's passive heat dissipation is better than the diamondback line- by a good margin. There's no other ship in the game that can hold a fully charged FSD while fuel-scooping from a class F star, not to mention stay bellow 60% heat while doing it. I love the dolphin for all of those things. But the reason it's my single favorite ship, is how it feels to fly, and the feeling I get snapping a shot of this lovely little beast coasting by some rare, beautiful stellar phenomena- because unlike any other ship I've ever explored in, it only ever makes the shot better.
    It doesn't do everything, but what it does, it does well, and it does in style.

    The Dolphin is my limousine per se. Going to war in a far off than normal system ? This ship gets you there in style and comfort. I get 48ly with cargo bay And SRV, which lends to planetary landings for weapons material/ exploration. I just hop where I want and transfer my ships once set up in dock. Simple. I can but rarely need to haul passengers, but I don't need to. The paint schemes are wide and it makes a great light explorer. And it can darn well land anywhere....which is a plus for many planets. Why would I take a ship that can only do 59ly max per jump exploring, and not my 74ly DBX, 72ly Phandom, 71ly AspX, or even my 77ly Anaconda? Because the Dolphin can fuel scoop and charge the FSD at the same time and not get over 63% heat. To say this speeds up long distance travel is an understatement. The ship just does not overheat.

    With a double-engineered FSD from the Colonia Bridge event, a G2 engineered low emissions plant, a size 5 FSD booster and a size 4 fuel scoop, it’s a perfect bubble bus. You can fully charge the FSD in the corona of a star without overheating-not even the DBX can pull that off.
    My only question is, why two fire extinguishers in the cockpit?

    All 3 Saud ships are really fantastic. Honestly, the issue is in passenger missions themselves. Luxury missions essentially don't exist, economy renders all three inferior in each size class, and passenger interaction is woefully absent.

    You're the only content I actually pay for thanks to your wit and the fact that your video ACTUALLY shows what you are talking about, unlike some others who seem to be content simply stringing random footage together while they talk. In short, you deserve a buck a month. That said, what most people seem to neglect in these reviews is the view looking OUT of a ship....which is what we all do most...right? The Dolphin has a beautiful unobstructed forward view and ceiling, appreciated most in VR. While I don't OWN one, I used one to evacuate a space station and it had GUTS (and a reflective hull). I made a fortune, though I have to say I took some pleasure in leaving whiney socialites stranded at the dock with their fancy bags all packed, tapping their foot, and sending me bitchy messages.

  • @mranthonymills
    @mranthonymills 4 года назад +1

    The problem with the Diamondback Explorer is a tiny fuel scoop that can't recharge your tank as fast as you can jump. The Dolphin fixes that. For the cost of a few light years of jump range, it gives you a generous fuel scoop size so you'll never have to think about fuel, a smaller footprint to land on those Guardian sites and other rocky bits of terrain, and a perfect couple of utility hardpoints to put point defence to shoot Guardian sentry missiles down with. With a good A-rated powerplant, it runs so cold that it never gets above 60% heat, even when initiating jumps within a star's corona. And did I mention it basically has a free extra optional internal slot so you can cram in more goodies? (DBX 4-4-3-3-2-2-1-1 vs Dolphin 5-4-4-3-2-2-2-1-1).

    Stick 2 engineered rails on it and you can pummel people who can't really target you.

    My favorite ship. A rated and with all the exploration fixings and I get 54ly jump range. It’s optionals are also one of the best for small ships. The heat means I can undersize and overcharge the power plant and still charge and scoop at the same time.

    Being a bus driver for whiny children used to be pretty steady and lucrative business. I did a lot of it in my early-mid career in a Dolphin. Still have the ship in Colonia. I need to fly there to apply the taxi paintjob one of these days. Still do a bid of touring for BGS occasionally, but it's not as fun in a Beluga.

    This is my go to ship for money making in case everything goes to shit with my economy and dying on bigger ships. I engineered the shit out of it, and with 2 passenger cabins shields and fuel scoop it has 38 Ly jump range if I remove 1 of the cabins and the shields it goes up to 42 Ly's Easy. Get this ship, engineer it and keep it as a back up in case you lose money on whatever, it works like a charm there are sightseeing missions that pay 4 mill each for 2 destinations and fuel scooping on this thing is hella fast. Also it's the only ship I found out that it doesn't overheat even if you jump into a star and you charge your FSD it's op, it's broken for a small ship and it's underrated.

  • @rolebo1
    @rolebo1 2 года назад +1

    Forgot to mention that the Dolphin might very well be the coldest running ship in the game, unengineered it sits at 22% with engineering you can push that back to 9%. Using FSD near a star? Don't even need to use a heat sink.

    I have a lot of love for the Dolphin. It was my first explorer, and mistakes were made, leading to my first (and only this far) experience with the Fuel Rats. By nature exploring is my thing in Elite and those whiny passengers bought me every ship in the game. I reset my save last year to take advantage of the knowledge I have now and when it's time to go exploring, I know which little ship I'll buy.

    As a pilot who's flown the Dolphin, I have some experience.
    It's a neat, sleek and speedy little ship. The Dolphin is light, agile and fun to fly. She's a fun sight to see while you're warping between the stars. Okay, now that the fun stuff is out of the way is the bad news. The Dolphin is pretty short sighted as an exploration vessel. Her fuel tank isn't as big as say the Asp Scout or the bigger sister ship, the Explorer. The Asp and the DBS and DBX ships are much better at exploration and can travel much further distance than the Dolphin can. One of the other drawbacks to the Dolphin is, she's primarily nothing more than a passenger liner. Being a small vessel though, limits her in just how many passengers she can carry at one time. Fully loaded with passenger compartments, She can carry as many as 30 to 35 passengers at one given time. Useful but only in very limited circumstances. And she most definitely will not stand up to being interdicted or any lengthy combat situations. As she only has 2 small hardpoints, she's horribly outmatched in firepower. I also would not recommend using the Dolphin as a mining ship even as fast she is. As she has very limited defenses, she wouldn't stand up to a fight by any means.

    2:07 thats exactly the reason why i do passenger missions, I have a Cobra for this with only passenger cages, and you are right the "annoyance" the passengers create is just a great way to just get a hint of reality ;) with the 50mill cap in place most super long rage stuff isn't really worth it, but the shorter trips < 100Ly are actually pretty good, you have one drunk guy that pays the bills and on every stop you picking up 1 jump passengers in economy. it really gets you to places!

  • @emberparadox458

    The Dolphin has been my primary ship as a Fuel Rat for quite some time now. With proper engineering I can push it's jump range to nearly 60ly (and even beyond if I wanted to go real crazy) and it is more than capable of achieving that with fuel limpet controllers, repair limpet controller, fuel scoop, and cargo space for 16 limpets. The reason why it is my primary ratting ship? First and foremost, the fact that I can scoop and charge the fsd simultaneously and never get heat over 65 regardless of engineering modifications means I can reach a client in half than if I was in any other ship. Plus, the ship is very nimble and maneuverable in supercruise, allowing me to shift and change directions during emergency Code Red operations quite quickly, which is crucial during a critical rescue like that. Plus it also can put out some very respectable speeds while on thrusters as well, boosting at nearly 540 without drag drives. For my purposes, it makes for an absolutely fantastic rescue ship.
    Alternatively, it can actually be quite a surprise in combat. Check out CrimsonGamer99's invincible Dolphin to see what I mean.

      Yeah, I heard that and thought I must have missed something important. The only mods for fuel scoops I know of increase their power draw, without adding any additional scooping rate. So basically a waste of resources to mod them. If a mod for adding volume to a fuel scoop did exist, I might be able to stop bitching about the DBX and it's Class 4 fuel scoop.

    Experimented a little with it and then done a trip to Sagittarius A* and Colonia in it. I have to say that i started to love this little ship. Is has enough space for any essential modules, can fit a reasonable fuel scoop and it just is fun to fly. Maybe it is not the very best explorer in terms of raw jump range, but it overall does really well for long star treks.
    It can charge the FSD while in full scoop, never exceeding 65% heat!

It's easily to refit between passengers and cargo, and not having to worry about proper landing pads means I can hop around the bubble without fear. If you want to make some decent bank through transport missions, definitely the way to go
