A compendium of automotive maintenance for Audi C7 owners to diy and/or understand maintenance and performance modifications. Sincere thanks for what you do for the community.
Absolutely fantastic tutorial on how to do all four corners. Others have struggled extremely with the rear suspension by using ratchet straps instead of internal coil compressors. Dropping the front control arm made the front end super simple again compared to others struggling to get those front coils out. Thank you so much, as I am about to put on Eibach 1 inch front lowering and .8 inch rear lowering coils. Plus, the pre-loading was some thing that has not been mentioned in many many other videos. After I’m done a full alignment to get all balanced out.
Thanks for what you do man! This channel will make things way easier when the time comes. I know you said in another video you don't want to charge anything for the videos but maybe you could consider offering some merch? Something simple like a hoodie or some keychains would be cool!
That would probably be a pretty cool idea! I'll have to look into doing that and seeing if I can find a cost effective way to get some affordable merch available to people.
I recently have started to mod my A6 as well. I went from Stock to Stage 2 with a ECU tune and an Intake. Got new wheels and tires. Ordered and will be installing a Merc Heat Exchanger which btw your video om how to do it convinced me to get it. :) Now Im gonna focus next on a TCU tune and coilovers 😎. Thank u for your videos! Its helping me A LOT lol.
@@AudiC7Owners yup they do sir! Thank u again! But can I ask for a suggestion? I want to mod my car properly. I have the funds to do so but any recommendations on what to do next after the heat exchanger? I know I said id do the coil overs and TCU tune. But any advice from you or other people who are more experienced me would be awesome.
@@AudiC7Owners I used the same idea as your wood stud to assist with the rear spring removal/insert, but since I had the shock absorber out, I opted for the metal handle of my jack and applied the same principle. Felt a little safer than a 2x4, and worked really well.
Thanks for all your videos, I really appreciate them! I just installed a set of Eibach Pro Streets. The one thing I noticed is that I did not have to take out the upper suspension links in the steering knuckle. Was able to remove the strut and install the new coil overs without that step.
Thanks! Looking to do this for my A7 my question is will this effect the auto-leveling system? or will it have to be re-calibrated after the drop or should it be okay??
Thanks for what you're doing. Couple Q's. It looks like you started with sport sus. Are you still running stock shocks and you didn't mention trimming the bumpstops, how is the setup treating you.? Also from your other video you went 20mm & 15mm spacers. Any rubbing.?
Alright alright that's good to hear. H&R on Koni yellows is where I'm headed, but if I can run your setup for a bit, it leaves some $$ to upgrade my Apr tune to stage 2 or maybe trans tune first.. ha
Hey man! Nice work again... Is it possible to remove the shock assembly without removing the all Lower control arm ? Does it get enough space? Thanks again! Plan to instal my coilover tomorow on my C7.5 and i figure how i can get enough space without removing the LCA ball joint .
I was driving around after doing the springs and control arms, I heard a little pop when I turned full lock, it's only happened once so far but should I be concerned I broke anything?
Any chance you remember what lenght you cut the rear compressor threaded rod to? Also is it safe to place the jack stand at both front and rear pinch welds beside the designated jacking point? Cheers 🍻
Where did you buy the springs? And what did you pay for them? I ask because I’m definitely lowering my C7 A6, and I don’t want to miss a deal somewhere on the springs. 😃
Great video! I have to replace a broken rear coil spring on a 2010 Q5. The suspension appears to be the same as the C7. I am wondering what the brand and model number is for the internal spring compressor that is featured in this video? It appears to be a Performance Tool brand. Thank you.
I don't know the model number, but it was the rental from advance auto parts. Any international sprinf compressor should work, but you might have to modify it like I did.
Are the front suspension components struts & the rear ones shocks? The local mechanic told me my struts are shot but said nothing about shocks. But when i look online the packages only provides 2 struts & 2 shocks for the c7.
Thanks for the content, love the videos! How long would the entire job take to do all (4) springs if I took it to an Audi dealership? Thanks in advance.
I didn't replace any, but the recommended ones would be any control arm bolts you loosened or removed, as well as sway bar end link bolts. You can contact your local dealer to get them & sure you get the right books according to your vin
Gonna do my 2015 A6 all front suspension is still stock at 85K miles and no issues. Gonna order the full bolt replacement kit u mentioned u had to do control arm and did shock mount. Should I do all lowers or leave them. Did u do front lower or both lower?
The car does handle better. In truth it wasn't very much of an expense. I found a great deal on the springs (175$) & I installed them myself. Totally worth it
Anything with static bushings need to be preloaded. If it's a ball joint/bearing bushing you don't need to preload as there is no constant pressure on the bushings in those, if that makes sense.
Yes makes sense buddy. still to tackle my A7 over the weekend . Thanks for the heads up .. i thought i missed the rear preload and assumed there was static bushings at the back. Guess ill see what its all about at the back end when i get hands on. Thanks again, im away to make an internal compressor from bar and screwed rod. . Then pick up some 2x4
You don't unbolt any condo arms/bushings/endlinks in the rear unless you are having to deal with an aftermarket swaybar like I did. If you have the oem sway bar then you won't have to do anything.

Didn't watch it yet but thank you for super useful video
😂 This is probably the most highly requested DIY video from people. I'm glad to have it out there now

You shouldn't have to do anything as long as you don't damage the leveling sensor.
What is your Input on lowering the car with audi drive select and the dampeners? Will it affect anything negatively?
Thanks for what you're doing. Couple Q's. It looks like you started with sport sus.

Still riding extremely well with oem sport shocks & bump stops. No rubbing at all 👍🏻

How many inch drop are these springs?
Is the front or rear spring longer? My eibach set did not come labeled
Front springs should be longer
@@AudiC7Owners so I guess the eibach ones are different because the longer springs don't even fit around the shock
I might have remembered it backwards, but I'm glad you figured it out
@@AudiC7Owners my rudimentary German got me to realize that the last letter on the part numbers stood for Vorn and Hinten, front and rear in german
Nice! I'd have never caught that
I was driving around after doing the springs and control arms, I heard a little pop when I turned full lock, it's only happened once so far but should I be concerned I broke anything?
I think it would be a wise idea to get under there and visually inspect everything, but a noise for settling is not uncommon.
@@AudiC7Owners I'm having trouble to get the spring compressor to not slip on the spring, any ideas?
The front or rear?
@@AudiC7Owners rear
Just have to play around with them and make sure they are tight
do you have your do an alignment after installing these or is it highly recommended
It is highly recommended if you don't want to eat your tires
Any chance you remember what lenght you cut the rear compressor threaded rod to? Also is it safe to place the jack stand at both front and rear pinch welds beside the designated jacking point? Cheers 🍻
I don't remember honestly.
And yes... Been doing it for years
Where did you buy the springs? And what did you pay for them?
I ask because I’m definitely lowering my C7 A6, and I don’t want to miss a deal somewhere on the springs. 😃
I bought mine from a member of the audizine forum.

A6 c6 2010y. Will be the same?
It probably won't be exactly the same, but should be similar
FRIGGIN MAN STRENGTH ALL DAY!!!!!!
Are you running wheel spacers? And if so what size.
Yes. We actually have a video on them. One of our earlier videos
It's the video about putting your C7 on jack stands
Love the videos and I have the same H&R springs on my C7. Going to order the 15mm and 20 mm spacer today!
Around how long after installing these did you get an alingment?
1 or 2 days
Are the front suspension components struts & the rear ones shocks? The local mechanic told me my struts are shot but said nothing about shocks. But when i look online the packages only provides 2 struts & 2 shocks for the c7.
That is correct. Front = struts
@@AudiC7Owners Thank you!

A shop will charge you book time. Not sure what that is but it will be pricey
@@AudiC7Owners How long did it take you? Thanks bud.✌
Probably a total of about 4 hours
Do you have a measurement on the cut bolt on the rear spring tool I got the same one I'm gonna cut it!!!
Lol no I don't. Start off with small cuts. You can always cut more... Can't add it back on though
What is the tool number for the rear spring please
What are the one-time-use bolts that I need to get? I'm unfamiliar with this and don't know what the bolt size is

@@AudiC7Owners how many miles dis yours have
Currently 137k
@@AudiC7Owners when did the control arms go bad mileage wise I might just spring it and wing it lol
Hard to remember off the top of my head. Under 90k though
Where did u purchase ur spreading tool
The strut spreader? Amazon
Will this guide work for a C7 A7?
Should be identical
What brand springs
H&r sport springs
I just used spark plugs sockets for the strut nut
Whatever gets the job done!
What if you don’t have rear aftermarket sway bars
Then you don't need to do what I did with mine. Just leave them as they are.
How long total job
4-5 hours
What size are the wheels?
Oem 20x8.5
@@AudiC7Owners 255/35? You think I could get away with 20x9 or 19x9?
Yep. Shouldn't have any problems
Tell us about your sway bar.
What do you want to know? We have an entire video on installing those too
@@AudiC7Owners gotcha. I wanted to know where you got it, but I’ll look for the video.
They are from Eurocode 👍🏻

Hy. Was your car on "sline" springs original? How lower are those springs from H&R?
Thank you fam
Can’t you just spread the strut fork and drop it and not have to take off the lower control arm🤔
Correct, I had the stock sport suspension and did not need to remove the lower control arm either.
Only preload the front lower arms? and leave the back as-is due to using the hacksaw jim duggan method " hoooooooooooooooooo"

Does the A6 C7 have air spring bags?
Not in north America
