The 01 1075 steam locomotive, part of the Deutsche Reichsbahn's 01.10 Class, was designed to haul express passenger trains across Germany during the height of the steam era. Streamlined for speed and efficiency, it symbolizes the technological ambitions of the late 1930’s, and then played a pivotal role in rail transport during World War II. This 01 1075 is now based in Rotterdam Noord Goederen at the Dutch Steam Foundation (SSN) and recently drove through Venlo on its way to Bielefeld via Breyell, Dülken, Viersen, Mönchengladbach, Neuss, Krefeld, Duisburg, etc.. and back.
