    One of the very best amateur videos of East German Rail in Dresden-Hauptbahnhof from year 1991. The video is taken in the same manner like I preferred to film.
    Most important are not only the video scenes which are brilliant, but the sound is absolutely perfect! You could listening to each engine, their own special sound, like the Czech build class 180 and their loud cooling fans.
    A very fine rare shot is the double deck train with the Coca Cola colour scheme!
    👍👍👍👍👍

      I had no expectations of what I would find train wise when I was travelling so it was all new to me but this is still one of my favourite videos!

    Nice (n)Ost-algie feeling.
    About 1:37 this is an international express named "Primator" between Prague and Berlin via Dresden.
    The loco class 230 of DR (same as 372 ČSD, later ČD) is a Škoda Works and LEW Hennigsdorf cooperation. In the former Czechoslovakia was nicknamed with a slur, referring to a fatherlessness or a mixed dog breed.
    (Škoda wanted to use their thyristor PWM control, but the East Germans doubted about it, hence the class got a class 350-kind resistor pwr control, needing the giant fans at acceleration, hence the loud start and a nickname)
    The East German class 118 is the most beautiful ex GDR loco ever (in my honest opinion).

    Interesting video, the star here must be 118 203-9, one of the former fiber-glass fronted locos and around this time it should had been withdrawn in Zittau, so whether they pulled it back into service as an exception because by 1992 it was moved to Museumseisenbahn Paderborn

    The double deck train at 5:10 is a very rarely seen and today completely non existent type. Not much pictures left of these. First time i found a video of these, which is not a toy or model train. It is a Doppelstock-Gliederzug of the Deutsche Reichsbahn. It has the doors between the cars in seperate modules. Its worth to make it a seperate video, since more people are searching for it while i found it just accidently.

    • @paekokstationmaster5032

      Having a closer look I see they are very unusual in have a shared bogie between the coaches which I hadn't noticed before. I didn't realize that they were very rare so thank you for you info!

    • @Watcher1867
      @Watcher1867 6 лет назад +2

      There where several types of those "Gliederzüge". The one here is the last built form. Former ones had their doors within the wagon as later built single cars had/have, too. The older ones where connected by 3-axle-bogies while these ones have 2-axle-bogies and wagons "hanging" between them.

    So what was the political situation in the DDR at this particular date like? Did the East Germans know that they were about to be reunified? Were there still the oppressive laws that restricted their movement and freedom of speech etc?

    Oh ja , das waren schöne Zeiten ! man konnte sich auf dem Hauptbahnhof nicht sattsehen: Rangierbetrieb ohne ende und richtige "umsetzerfahrten" mit Rangierbefehl auf das Gleisvorfeld... Heute ist auf dem Hauptbahnhof nichts mehr derartiges los: ein Toter Bahnhof mit langweiligen Ein- und Aus/durchfahrten ohne jeden dazugehörigen Betrieb im Bahnhof. Man sieht gar nicht mher das Züge rangiert werden ,was traurig macht..

    • @paekokstationmaster5032
      @paekokstationmaster5032  4 года назад +1

      Ja, leider ist das heutzutage in den meisten Ländern so, wobei die meisten Züge entweder aus festen Zügen oder aus DMUs bestehen.
      Ich habe es damals wirklich genossen, durch Europa zu reisen, da die meisten Züge noch mit der Lok gezogen wurden!
      Ich habe es wirklich geliebt, diese ehemaligen DR-Loks besonders zu sehen und zu hören!
