Französicher Eisenbahnfan hier. Tolle Video einer Verschwundenen Aera. Heute haben die Triebfahrzeuge mehrere Personenzüge ersetzt. French railway fan here. Excellent video from a bygone age. Most trains were Loco-hauled whereas today , many are EMU or DMU.
Just found this footage, absolutely priceless. Thanks for uploading. I was only a young lad at the time, so couldn't just leave my parents to go exploring like I can now.
Fantastic footage! A great view on the daily operations at Dresden Hbf at that time. Unfortunately I took only pictures that time and wasn't capturing anything on Video - so thank you for sharing this clip! Thumbs up!
Glad you enjoyed , I mostly only took video over that period although still plenty of photos! I hope you are enjoying some of my other stuff and I still have plenty of European stuff to upload!
Interesting video, the star here must be 118 203-9, one of the former fiber-glass fronted locos and around this time it should had been withdrawn in Zittau, so whether they pulled it back into service as an exception because by 1992 it was moved to Museumseisenbahn Paderborn
The double deck train at 5:10 is a very rarely seen and today completely non existent type. Not much pictures left of these. First time i found a video of these, which is not a toy or model train. It is a Doppelstock-Gliederzug of the Deutsche Reichsbahn. It has the doors between the cars in seperate modules. Its worth to make it a seperate video, since more people are searching for it while i found it just accidently.
Having a closer look I see they are very unusual in have a shared bogie between the coaches which I hadn't noticed before. I didn't realize that they were very rare so thank you for you info!
There where several types of those "Gliederzüge". The one here is the last built form. Former ones had their doors within the wagon as later built single cars had/have, too. The older ones where connected by 3-axle-bogies while these ones have 2-axle-bogies and wagons "hanging" between them.

So what was the political situation in the DDR at this particular date like? Did the East Germans know that they were about to be reunified? Were there still the oppressive laws that restricted their movement and freedom of speech etc?
Back when trains would cause your eardrums to tear apart!
Lovely old times.
Yes that's the one thing I remember , all that noise!
Das waren schöne Zeiten !👍👍👍
Wonderful quality footage, some real classic traction there. Those Class 118s look particularly immaculate.
Thank you, It certainly isn't the same these days. Always loved the loco of those former Eastern Bloc locos, just something about them!
Brilliant now vintage footage from right at the end of the Warsaw pact! A joy to watch.
Thank you. I am glad I was able to visit when I did!
Keep an eye out for some more of my European stuff which I must get around to uploading!
Awesome priceless footage! Thank you very much for sharing, cheers from Poland!
No worries.
Keep a look out as plenty more to come from around Europe!

Vielen Dank aus Neuseeland, und ich hoffe, Sie haben einige meiner anderen Sachen genossen!
It's like walking in a video game after finishing it.
Just found this footage, absolutely priceless. Thanks for uploading.

Thanks for that info John as don't really know much about European Railways!
Maybe it was ready to head to the museum and they needed to use it first!
Fine thanks

@@paekokstationmaster5032 You mean the DR BR132 DB BR232? That can run to Belgium from Aachen Netherlands on the Duisburg Oberhausen-Arnhem Railway
The first train with the green wagons seems to be bulgarian BDZ.
I think Czech CSD

This was after the 'iron curtain" and the Berlin wall had come down!
Whish I could drive DB180
you mean DR 230
That first loco sounds like a constipated valenta.
