Greetings from across the rather large pond here in England Chana 😊 loved this video , the gifts you revive from friends for Purim are so neat and clever
I enjoyed this video very much. The joy of the holiday came through so clearly. I am about to start my conversion process and this video really made me look forward to celebrating Purim in the future. Thanks!
Your costume is beautiful, and you look great in it! I noticed the sleeve’s immediately, and was going to ask about them. Mr Firefly reads beautifully. Thanks for sharing 😊
Wow chana! You had such a beautiful Holiday! Mishloach manot, meals friends what could be better??? Baby firefly looks absolutely lovely in that astronaut costume of his and your costume was absolutely gorgeous as well! Sending love to you and your beautiful family!💕
I love your costume! This is what I used to make for myself, but without sleeves. I'd just make a long sleeved chemise. You might consider making one of those because the neckline can be adjusted for modesty, too. Also, Italian Renaissance dresses would be amazing on you! I have so many things I want to share with you about costuming but there's no time! LOL The kiddos' costumes were great! Little Dude looked like he meant business in his uniform! My son-in-law just purchased one of those sous vide things. He's having fun experimenting with it. So good to see you so happy and no doubt that costume is probably the most comfortable one you could have made. Love the reminder in the one gift you got about the hostages. They are still at the forefront of my mind and prayers.
A very enjoyable video on Purim. My favorite part is the joy on your face as you twirl around in your costume saying “I love it!” Also, the inclusion of the hostages; may they be released soon. I hope you and your family had a great time You seem to be a wonderful hostess who thinks of everyone’s comfort
Thank you for sharing Purim with us all. You seem to have had a wonderful time and the kiddos had so much fun. Your costume was beautiful. You looked like a lass from the highlands.

Got to listen to my grandson play some music on his trombone. He is in 6th grade. You did a wonderful job on your costume. So creative. Good to hear of all the festivities. Such a fun video, Purim looks like a fun and festive time-and so many treats! Mr Firefly reading the Megillah was very beautiful. I loved your costume too. Thank you for sharing as much as you did, we all really appreciate it. 💙
Chana you looked so beautiful 😍. I think Purim is a great holiday and a wonderful way to celebrate Esther ❤. The wig looked lovely as well, but you also look lovely with a scarf and that’s how I am used to see you I had to get use to you without a scarf. Lots of love to you and your family ❤️🥰
You were so happy with the costume and the traditions. It makes me smile, and I will research the day to find out what you were so jubilant about. Great video.
How lovely and personal for you to have your husband read the Book of Esther to you! I think it is a wonderful way for you to feel close to one another.❤
Hi Chana, I agree, best costume ever! You looked so pretty! You're so funny when you said do you notice the inside of the sleeves, I thought you made it from material from your curtains!! All the treats were so creative and looked delicious! Purim is such a fun celebration; I wish I could celebrate it! Thank you for sharing your day with us; it looked like so much fun!!!
Hello lovely Chana, it is our move time but taking a break to watch your video. Your videos always make me smile and feel good. So happy you had a lovely Purim. I know it is one of your fav.

Super, super fun video. Thank you for sharing Purim with us, I really enjoyed it. You had so much fun and your costume is awesome. Love your videos as always.
Love your costume it looked very authentic My husband wore his kilt on Sunday when we were the only Scottish people competing in the cat show in Belgium and everyone loved it
Your costume is great! If it were me, I'd be tempted to wear it around the house on random days. 😂 You are a wonderful host. It looks like you had a grand celebration. Thanks for sharing.
I’m so glad you had a great Purim!! It sure looked fun! I laughed when you said “you need some sugar”! Every kids dream- sugar!! 😂😂 I know it’s for medical reasons, though. My kids have always loved wearing costumes- like ninjas, pirates, Frozen, etc. It’s so cool you still love costumes too!! Yours was great!! I love that little green “farm” box with the wooden handle! So cute!!! ❤
Chana, there are some incredible Gluten-free Hamentashen recipes. Have you tried them? They use almond flour, and fresh fruit. As for the sugar, you can trade better sugar-free options. I made 2 different recipes. They came out great!
Your costume would've made any "Outlander " lady proud, the tartan is beautiful. Your wig suits you perfectly. It rained here in SoCal off and on from Thursday until yesterday. I'm watching the video sitting on a display sectional in Macy's, the couch is quite comfy actually. Not planning on buying , just randomly sat on it.
I loved seeing your costumes, you're is fantastic. I hope that you at least manage to catch up on sleep tonight. We've had a four day weekend here for Easter, which coincided with my birthday, so that's been lovely. Now, I'm going to have a nap.
Oh Hanna. I’m crying at the beauty of this Holiday and the love and joy that’s spread. I wish I was exposed to Judaism early and not just Christianity. Now I am Spiritual and believe in God after leaving Christianity.
Ble your heart..... I don't know how you do it. I am such a crazy person regarding my kitchen and party mess. I can't go to bed with even one spoon in the sink. I have always put my house tobed before going to bed myself. Sometimes I wish I could be more relaxed with this but it never happens. I think your costume was totally awesome, you did a wonderful job on all you did for this special day.
I love how much joy your costume clearly brought you. I hope Purim is blessed holiday for you all. I have a question. When I see people read the Torah in the Synagogue, they use a pointer rather than touch the text. Is the Torah scroll used at home a different kind? (This may sound like I'm somehow trying to catch you out, but it's a genuine question asked in good faith). Also, it's lovely to see us at your festivities, but the most important thing is for you to feel able to present and celebrate with those around you. I don't think you should ever feel bad for not filming all of it.
The pointer is used so we aren’t directly touching the scroll any more than necessary so we don’t damage it and it lasts longer. Torah scrolls are extremely expensive.
Oh, what a fun celebration!! 🎉 You and I are definitely kindred spirits because hosting is MY FAVORITE thing in the world!! I love to cook and I love my friends and family so combining the two just puts the biggest smile on my face and in my heart! ❤
I love the celebration of Purim. As a Christian - I’ve decided not to celebrate Easter or Christmas moving forward, but rather to observe (and celebrate) Passover and Hanukkah. I appreciate your videos and am looking forward to incorporating other holidays as well. I cannot remember whether I’ve seen a video about whether you celebrate Halloween, so I’m asking if you do? Thank you for your hard work, videos and explanations about why you do what you do and how you celebrate. If you feel comfortable - would you share the two people you are praying for. My circle is praying for Israel and our Hebrew brothers and sisters around the world.
Hello! Great question. We do not celebrate Halloween. We turn the porch light off as well to signal that we aren’t passing out candy. My kids kept the two names but there are lots of lists online! Thank you so much for your prayers!
No need to apologize for not filming during the meal. You were so busy and had guests. I did notice your sleeves. I was thinking “Is that her tablecloth?” “It can’t be” 😂 Turns out I wasn’t completely wrong! Loved your costume. So beautiful. Your table setting was so nice. Does Mr. Firefly have to read all 10 chapters of the book of Esther? I have always wondered how that works. Maybe if you ever get a chance of having you and Mr. Firefly explain that in a video. Have a great day! ❤
You noticed! I love it! Thank you for your kind words :) Yes, Mr Firefly reads the entire book of Esther. It's very nice to hear him. It takes about 25 minutes.
Love your costume! Y'all did a great job on the jacket. And is that your clan tartan? (I have a kilt made from mine, and it's one of my favorite things to wear.) Glad you had such a wonderful holiday!
@@jaroffirefliesLucky! I have just the one, as my only identifiably Scottish ancestor was sold into slavery and shipped off to Barbados in the 1600s, before clan tartans were really a thing, I'm told. So I wear mine as a nod to the poor dude who never saw his highland home again. (As you can imagine, I have opinions about Oliver Cromwell.)
@@ashextraordinaire oh wow! That’s so interesting! For my family, both sides immigrated to America like 200 years ago, so we are far from our roots but they stayed very Scottish by marriage even up until my parents.
Chana, you are responding to some of these comments about your wig with so much more grace and class than I would be capable of! You always look lovely, inspire me in my jewish observance, and it looks like you had a wonderful Purim! Shavua Tov to you. (I am so tired from hosting Purim that I told my friends I can't wait for my Pesach seder invite haha)
Super great costume! The second I saw you, I immediately thought “Claire”!! I know that you prefer scarves/tichels and snoods, but honestly, that wig is SO becoming (although I’m sure it’s not the most practical when there’s an inquisitive Baby Firefly always ready to give it a yank). Thanks for sharing your Purim celebration.
Whenever I teach the book of Esther and Sunday school, the kids are instructed to say the following. Whenever I say the name Haman... Evil wicked meaning nasty. Thanks for sharing Purim with us. Love the costumes and all those great ideas for gifts!
The food was delicious! It was so late that I really had no desire to stay up another second :) I definitely prefer to have the house clean before bed but some days that just isn't a good idea :)
What an amazing Purim this year!! Love your costume and loved Mr Firefly reading in Hebrew. You have inspired me to read and study Esther, a book that I’ve not done a deep dive into.
Screaming so loud how much I love your costume!!! I would dress like this every day (with air conditioning/cold weather! Ha!) Sometimes I think I was born later than my historical time, but I do love the medical care these days, and the modern conveniences....I guess I just need to trust God's judgement (and I really do!), and chalk my feelings ip to romanticism!
Hi Chana! I’m super late with my question but if Mr Firefly is a reader of the magilla, and he reads it twice, does he also have to HEAR it twice? Or does him reading it count for him? Thanks!!
I have a question and I mean no disrespect; I just don’t know. Do you only hand out food gifts to other Jewish families, or can you give it to anyone? That all looked amazing and I would love to get one 😭 100% would love to participate, as well.
Great question! Its a Jewish holiday so we are pretty much giving out to our Jewish friends. The obligation is to give to a Jew, but we give out typically much more than our obligation. If I saw one of my non Jewish friends on Purim, I would give them a basket, but I also probably wouldn't see my non Jewish friends because I am really busy within my community on this day.
As a Christian, I really enjoy having a peek into your day and learning about the Jewish faith. I’m curious if your family ever celebrates any of the Jewish holidays with you?
Do you make all the Slaloch Mones packages (sorry Yiddish terminology) the same size, or do you make them sized for the the families they are dropped at? Would you give a married couple of 2 the same package as a family of 7?
Such a fun holiday celebration! I love all the themed gifts. I absolutely love your costume. Your kiddos are adorable and getting so big. Have a great week and blessed Shabbat.
I loved watching your Purim celebrations - and I was especially excited to see your costume! Not only do am I living in Scotland, married to a Scottish husband and have an actual ancient clan tartan for my family, but one of my friends here has worked on the Outlander set as an extra! A heavy tartan shawl is just the best for a cold, chilly day here. I’m glad you enjoyed Purim so much with your beautiful family.
Thank you for your kind words! I have extensive Scottish ancestry, and this is my family tartan! On one side lol I have on both sides of my family which is super fun.
@@jaroffireflies I knew from previous videos that you have Scottish ancestry, so I’d guessed that the beautiful Scottish shawl was probably your clan tartan. I think it’s really lovely that you included something in your playful costume that also has echoes of real history for your family. 🥰
You wearing your wig makes you look more happier like cheerful, energized and younger... like different vibe in a positive way... you with your hair coverings on daily basis - always beautiful and happy but at the same time, it is nice to see you with the wig so it would be nice to see you wearing your wig a bit more often to show the wig and the positivity with the wig... it shows more energy with the wig, I guess like something different every once in a while to change something up... in a positive way... again, you always look beautiful every video I see you and I am always learning so much from you... thank you for sharing... :)
@@jaroffireflies - I agree with you that the holiday got you energized as well. What I meant is that we do not see you with the wig often so sometimes when a change visually happens, sometimes there is more energy within the (rare) appearance as well. That is all. I always enjoy your vlogs.. thank you for sharing... :)
I hope all who celebrated had an amazing Purim!

Love your costume. the Tartan is lovely ! My ancestry is Scotch and Irish more than 50 per cent. This sounds like so much fun !
So fun!
Love your costume! Y'all did a great job on the jacket. And is that your clan tartan? (I have a kilt made from mine, and it's one of my favorite things to wear.) Glad you had such a wonderful holiday!
I technically have several tartans I could choose from lol there is so much Scottish ancestry on both sides of my family!
@@jaroffirefliesThat's awesome!!!
Great costume
Thank you!
Not Jewish but did celebrate Purim. One of my favorites as well as Passover. Praying for the hostages as well as Israel!
Thank you for your prayers!
Do you guys experience porch pirates stealing michloach minot (pretty sure I butchered that spelling) which are left on doorsteps?
Great question. Never have I heard of that happening to anyone, but I suppose it could.
Chana you look great with a nipped in waist! Fun to see you with a full head of wig. Saludos from Cuernavaca, Mexico
Thank you!
Thank you for your kindness :) And thank you so much for your kind words!!! I really appreciate you!
Claire! Love it!!! Thank you for your kind words :)
Whenever I teach the book of Esther and Sunday school, the kids are instructed to say the following. Whenever I say the name Haman... Evil wicked meaning nasty. Thanks for sharing Purim with us. Love the costumes and all those great ideas for gifts!
Thanks for watching!
As always a joy to see all of you.
So glad you enjoyed!
That food looked next level. The carrots 🥕 yummmm. There is no way I could go to bed with that mess. I wish I was as laid back as you.
The food was delicious! It was so late that I really had no desire to stay up another second :) I definitely prefer to have the house clean before bed but some days that just isn't a good idea :)
As you were putting the gifts together I noticed the lining in your sleeves, looks so lovely! Well done on your lovely costume. Purim Sameach!
You noticed! Thank you :)
Where did you get the name jar of fireflies.
Great question! I answer it in this video: ruclips.net/video/8pzYkrZHtzU/видео.html enjoy!
What an amazing Purim this year!!
Love your costume and loved Mr Firefly reading in Hebrew.
You have inspired me to read and study Esther, a book that I’ve not done a deep dive into.
Enjoy your study! Its a really neat book!
Looks like a wonderful time! Does Mr Firefly read Esther only in Hebrew? Does he read it in English? Do you understand the Hebrew?
Yes, he reads it in Hebrew, that is the obligation. We need to hear it in Hebrew. I understand a lot, but I am not fluent.
Yessss I too would love it if this sort of dress was totally socially acceptable but here in our times of very modern conveniences 😂
Hi Chana! I’m super late with my question but if Mr Firefly is a reader of the magilla, and he reads it twice, does he also have to HEAR it twice? Or does him reading it count for him? Thanks!!
Oh that is such a great question! So when he reads it, that counts for him.
Honestly, you look beautiful ❤ hope you had a wonderful time!
Thank you so much!
So glad you are enjoying! Yes sometimes my family does join in our celebrations
“A couple of VidiGoats”😂😂
You are too cute, I can tell you love the costume lol it is beautiful and very creative.
Thank you Nancy!
Do you make all the Slaloch Mones packages (sorry Yiddish terminology) the same size, or do you make them sized for the the families they are dropped at? Would you give a married couple of 2 the same package as a family of 7?
I make all mine the same sizes
Such a fun holiday celebration! I love all the themed gifts. I absolutely love your costume. Your kiddos are adorable and getting so big. Have a great week and blessed Shabbat.
Thank you so much Shawn!
אולי תעשי עליה לישראל !!!לחיות בגלות ????
Unless I missed it, I did not see any humentashen. Love your costume. Glad you had such a fun hi,iday.
We did get some hamantaschen in our mishloach manot we were gifted, but I did not make it
I loved watching your Purim celebrations - and I was especially excited to see your costume!
@@gillianc8106 ❤️❤️❤️😊😊😊
Did baby Firefly recognize his mama😊
Oh yes 😊
What a mess! 🙏 for you & the work ahead.
Are you allowed to cook on Purim? I know you cook ahead for the sabbath.
Great question! Yes, we are allowed to cook on Purim.
It was probably the holiday that had me so energized etc, and not the wig.
As always, the Purim holiday,
They tried to kill us,
We survived,
Let's eat!
Exactly!
