Is the drummer in a band that we can check out?
I have all of TOOL"s work but I went ahead and bought this version on ITUNES also. Great work!! I will donate. Keep up the great work!
Its much better and more professional if you put the full name for the bands credit. So people recognise the artists.
only if you work on getting women on the guitars and drums. and kill the patriarchy.
Does anyone else comeback and listen ever once in a while
froglick28 even added it to my Spotify playlist
Not the same as watching it . Watching the drummer is a treat
I keep coming back to listen I can't believe how hard these kids rock this Tool stuff as good as Tool does just about
At least daily. Honest, I heard this version before I heard Tool's, and I think I like this cover better.
Yes.. cuz it's so full... no mistakes

So true so so true
Hey this is Curtis from the video… left another comment a while back. Hope you guys had a Merry Christmas. Really enjoy coming back to this video every so often as inspiration to keep drumming!
Wait, you're the kid on drums?
I've played with some amazing drummers that have toured nationally and I was floored by your performance in this video. You owe it to the world to keep drumming. That's pure talent. Take it from an old guy that let his skills rust away.... Keeping doing what you love and don't let life get in the way or take it away from you.
Curtis that drum solo was amazing! How long did it take you to learn and practice well enough to play it? Keep it up!
At the time I had only played drums for a year and a half. I had sheet music for the drum part, and it took about 3 months of learning it and then another month of playing along with a metronome every day and getting it perfect. Unfortunately, I don't know what website/program my drum teacher used to get the sheet music.
10 years later, it's not immediately in my hands, but I imagine I could work it back up in 2 weeks or so :)
The biggest difference for me in learning drums parts has been listening to a song 10000 of times in my day because I genuinely love the music. Then going back and transcribing the rhythm with pen and paper is easy to do. The bridge between listening and writing the music down is SINGING the part. If you can sing the drum part from memory, you will be able to play it.

in truth, vocalist was more Cobain than Maynard, so while it sounded good, didn't quite pay homage. (Very expressive) drummer did an excellent job.

Everyone always talks about the singer and the drummer, but the real mvp is the bassist. Dude is sick
come on man lol
Have you seen "TOOL" live?
I have played bass for over 30 years now, trust me that guy is amazing
What the bassist guy does here is amazing.
Yeah but objectively the drums are the hardest part in the song, purely because Danny Carey is the best musician in the band
I’m here in 2024. This is one of my favorite covers of all time! Brilliant!
I also come here from time to time. it is always a joy to watch.
If this was 10 years ago, imagine what she sounds like today! 🫵
I perfer her vocals in it.
Shes less refined with her singing here but the rawness of that adds a since of desperation that i feel better covays the lyrics.
Atleast to me it does 😅
Right here with you man. Note for fucking note they killed it.
When it comes up, it must be watched ❤
If I ever stop coming back here to listen to this, I've died. Nearly seven years later, this still gives me chills.
Wow one day ago. I beat you TODAY, Just kidding we both win. :-)
Same. Chills every single time.
I think it's because they are kids but somehow they have enough brains to understand Tool and that's why they played it so well and have such an impact on ppl, youth but still hitting like adults lol.
same always gives me chills to hear these kids played !
Hmmm ironic. I died nearly seven years ago, and I still come here to listen to this. 💀🤷♂️
Who still come back after 7 years and listens to this badass cover,so much talent for how young these kids are,

That little girl has one of the most fantastic voices I've ever heard!
+Freakgrl04 Yes!! For sure, she ROCKS!!
+Freakgrl04 For some reason her vocals reminds of the original vocalist for Flyleaf.
+Nick Fire same here, you answered the question in my head, hey I recognize a voice like that and it's Flyleaf, but this girl will work on her screams as she ages right?
+Nick Fire Literally JUST told someone this... the goosebumps are real
+eyemalien She has come a long way since this was made. Hopefully she doesn't scream her voice away before it matures.

This is insane. If you have any clue whatsoever of how incredibly difficult this song is to play from the drums, bass, vocals, etc. It's absolutely crazy that these are children. You done tool proud.
You're not wrong. Danny Carey is an extremely talented drummer and very difficult to cover. As are all of Tool's songs like you said. And these kids absolutely killed it.
I'm surprised @TOOLmusic didn't show up here... This is insanely impressive!
I know we play it and OMF IS KILLING IT I WOULD LOVE TO DO BIG CONCERT WITH THESE YOUNG MUSICANS THIS IS WHAT MUSIC IS ABOUT ROCK ON ROCK HARD 🎩✌🏼🤘🎸🎀🎸
It's not that hard. Loads of kids learn this song.
The only hard part for the bass is finding a way to stay awake
Kid on the drum is insanely talented, this is NOT easy
i think he lost part of his soul that day, because he poured so much of it into those drums.
Im jealous that he could play that! Damn!
@@samuelpalacios3812 insanely out of his mind. Love it!
Right?? That's what I was thinking when I first watched this!!!!!

Too soon! Also they could not improve on this.
To the lady that singing this song. We are working with your dad here in Hot Springs AR. He showed us this and you and all the others kicked ass. Good job. Your dad sure does love u! God Bless you all!
For those of you that don't know, the drummer of Tool (Danny Carey) is basically a living god in the world of drumming. He creates and plays some of the most innovative and complex drum patterns in the industry.
The fact that this kid can not only _play_ this drum part, but do it proficiently and with so much confidence and emotion, is seriously mind-blowingly insane.
It may not have been perfect down to the last note, but holy shit this kid is going to do great things with his talent and hard work.
We know dude ,
Happy Covid new year

The bass player is SOLID. Tool is a really bass-oriented band and this 'kid' crushes it.
Oh man that kid killed it. Drummer to
And he is wearing a Periphery shirt....another technically incredible band.
agreed man! Kid definitely crushes those bass lines those took me AGES to get down without my hand dying hahah
@@mcflizzle81 what i noticed also lol

I agree
Hell yes!
Yes on reunion
Absafuckinlutely! I would pay seriously good money for that!
The young man with the percussion sticks exemplifies the notion of no matter how small the part may seem, do it to the best of your ability. Take it seriously because it is a part of the whole, an important part and without that part all the rest would be impacted. Excellent.
also the piano and the other percussion. excellent job.
I was thinking the same thing.

Either still killing it or hung it up while he was on top.
I've watched this about a hundred times over the years. And it's still RIDICULOUSLY good.
The dude on the drums is a fucking monster. And yes, the vocals are in the wrong register. Because she's literally a child. And still manages to pull off an incredibly challenging cover.
10/10. Absolutely no notes. One of the best RUclips cover videos of all time.
Might seem like an odd comparison, but I saw one analysis of George Michael when he did Somebody to Love with Queen and it was pointed out that rather than try to copy Freddie's range, George just did his own style of singing, which came out far better than if it was a copy. Same is true here...she couldn't have duplicated Maynard at all, so she took her own voice and made it her own.
Her little smirk. 😂
She knew she killed it.

Each kid is playing their instrument like it's the most important part in the song. Love this.
Right?! That’s the best!!! Because they are playing the most important part!! It takes them all. I love that they know that!!!! I was once just like these kidos.
That’s exactly what the guys from TOOL do as well, and it’s what makes them such a great band. There’s no hierarchy in the band. Each member brings something unique to the table in terms of sound and in terms of writing.
Anyone else just really really REALLY want these kids to come back now and do a remake of this? I mean, they're insanely talented in this video, but imagine how much their talent has increased in over 6 years!!!
You pre-stole my words a week ago!
(Just said the same thing, these kids are probably rock ANIMALS by now 🤘🤘)
That would be really awesome, but I don't know if we could handle the magnitude of that because this version was actually so awesome that the first time I heard it I didn't even know it was kids doing a cover. I heard it one morning on the way to work on Rocket 95.1 and the way she sang I honestly thought it was Flyleaf doing a cover of the song. When I got home later that afternoon I looked it up and discovered that it was the O'Keefe Music School and my mind was instantly blown. I can't even count how many times I have watched this video at least once or twice a month and it never gets old. Now all these kids are pretty much grown and I don't know what all of them are doing now but Kala Rose has her own band and still kicks ass pretty good.

This performance was amazing. Even though a few people here singled out the drummer and bass player for their abilities, I think they all deserve that accolade. In my opinion, the little girl singing turned in a performance that was well beyond her age, but then so did everybody. I'll go one step further and say this piece was very nicely recorded and edited as well, to make it all a very enjoyable and fun experience for all who see it.
Bill Roberts the singer did amazing. they are all amazing young people. I'm personally in awe by them all. but that drummer is absolutely insane
Yeah, Ed Stack, I'm impressed with the drummer's abilities, but unlike a lot of folks, and being a drummer myself, I tend to subscribe to the Buddy Rich school of drumming in that stick control and precise playing make the performance more than the out of control "insanity" of a person playing. Don't get me wrong - the kid was amazing (as was everybody), but I think you interpret "showmanship" and youthful exuberance for superior playing, and you're absolutely entitled to your opinion. I was only expressing mine (for what it's worth). Regardless, this piece is fun and impressive, so they all have my utmost respect as musicians and very talented kids. Cheers!
Bill Roberts I agree with you on that. I personally liked the singers performance the best. she did awesome

Vinyl Eyezz so do i !!! 😊
Vinyl Eyezz it gives me hope for the future😊
2019 & still watching. The kids crushed it!
Very talented kids! Better than a lot of adult cover bands even. Amazing, especially the drummer.
This is an immortal youtube classic
Same, always come back to this. Outstanding job by all
I watch it at least once a month!
I never ever heard of this music foundation before. Amazing kids for sure. The little girl on vox sounds like Lacey Sturm of the former band *Flyleaf* or even Gwen Stefanie a little bit.☺️
GOING TO SEE TOOL TONIGHT..THESE KIDS SHOULD OPEN FOR THEM.
+Zach Horrocks yessssss
Back again, in 2024, because no other version on You Tube delivers like this one. Kudos kiddos - you're all grown up since then but what you did on this date lives in infamy. You get a star on my boardwalk.
Drummer is a beast, straight smashes all the drum parts, also his faces are EPIC!! 👌🏼
Frank Longoria. METAL FACE!!!!
agreed haha
That little girls voice is haunting...so awesome. The bass player has style in his playing and the kid on the drums is absolutely crushing it...Animal recreated..and standing up at the end...KILLER JOB KIDS
I would really like to know what vocal effects were used to double the singer's voice (?) in this recording.
The drummer!!! Wow!
Hope to seem them go fit. They have what it takes hands down!!!
Yeah always goosebumps at the end, could listen to him smash that set for a bit longer and be happy.
Just wait until she really dives into tbe 46-2 meaning 😳
These kids are amazing. The drummer is just psyched to be playing Tool, almost like finally a challenge
Yes, indeed!
Love his energy. 🤘
My guy is just giving it and the Bass player is into also
The drummer (Curtis) asked to cover this song.. and it's as good as the original version (or even a bit better)
@dravakian definitely an excellent cover and I guess it fits that the drummer would specifically request it. Also pretty accurate that it took him and a couple other kids to cover all of Danny's parts.
That drum set got worked!! Man were these musicians impressive! Absolutely brought tears to my eyes to see them all tear this up!
You know it's a proper Tool cover when you can't decide the most critical member
damn that's truth
Good comment.
My opinion only: Drummer, and singer are tied. That bass player got some chops too.
well said
The kid with the sticks, obviously...
Everyone talkin about the drummer. I'm all about that little kid hittin the two sticks together!
Calis708 That kid is awesome. Besides the fact that he's perfectly on time, he's really into it. With 2 sticks. :)
Calis708 I'm all about the little singer!! Hear that
THANK YOU!
Calis708 d
He's killin' it!
The end, when the drummer was absolutely punishing the cymbal, gets me every time.
Take THAT! and THAT! and THAT THAT THAT THAT!
Looks like a crime of passion. The killer KNEW the victim.
While standing!🤘
Lol
April 2024 and I’m back again. Still have this version in my playlist spinning everyday
Still the best Tool cover I've ever heard almost a decade later.
The best cover song period I've ever heard
Brilliant at every level but Aaron knows his shit and always has the best drummer and bassist on every song he showcases
I saw some Pneuma covers that are on point too, the only thing is they are without vocals
No better cover to date i agree
Drummer has some chops. The voice really works for me. Obviously an octave difference, but she nails it.
4:35 Daniel Carey is one of the best drummers in the world. His distinct double bass pedal use is phenomenal.
This kid hit it like he was channeling Daniel Carey & Benjamin David Gillies from Silverchair at the same time. ***STANDING OVATION*** 👏👏👏
Oh crap, now I'm gonna have to listen to some Silver Chair... Thanks for reminding me they exist! They drifted from my mind a while back.
You said it perfectly.
and the kid is killing it with ONE pedal....
There's only 1 Professional Drummer or Drummer Period Named Kyle Mastropietro (the KM2000) I named him because he's like a Machine on the drums and I've never seen anyone like him, who I've ever heard perfectly pull off anything Tool or Led Zeppelin or Mahavishnu Orchestra (His Father also is an amazing drummer and raised him since literally birth to be on his level and besides him its these kids here and the School of Rock I've ever heard play on the level of Danny Carey, Neil Peart, John Bonham or Billy Cobham as far as drummers go.
And I work in a professional studio in Philadelphia as a producer, Song Writer, Promoter for over 20 years and few have blown me away like these kids.
Then there's every other instrument played here on the level of all the greats we can name. And then those Vocals. I'd love to say she has the voice of an Angel but only if that Angel was Booted from Heaven for being too Badd A$$ as was Lucifer known as the greatest of all the Angels and a Musical Genius might I add & as they say God's Greatest Creation so much so he apparently was jealous of his talents and couldn't manage to keep such an amazing talent around is how the story tells the more I think of it. And I'm no Satanic weirdo but the story is the story. I didn't write it. Devilishly Amazing. 🙏 🤲 🕍
She's a Monster on the Mic in the Coolest way I can give Her, Her Props.
Homey is KILLING those drums. Nice!
Can we all take a moment to appreciate the terrific vocalists in this song? She was absolutely amazing! The mood, the way of saying the words, all was perfect!
I agree! She sang it exactly like the original!
The devil's eyebrow,,, awesome.
eh
Gaurav On Guitars SO good, love the ‘lift the right shoulder to nail that note’
Yup, definitely caused goosebumps and a frog in my throat
Hearing such a young voice singing Tool songs is shocking, creepy, eerie and fits so perfectly, absolutely well done - all of them.
Cuz it's about growing. Evolving. Fits. Scarily well...
It’s scary that they must understand the basic theme, but they will live into all the subtext. They can express it, but I don’t want to see them find it out the hard way, which they will, we all do. If I were their parents that would keep me up at night.
Kayla Rose... this is old video and she’s grown and still making music
Just watched for the first time. I was wondering, hm I guess they're just gonna do this instrumental. Then that little girl's haunting voice just nailed it!
They killed it. Its an easy song, but performed well. Singer and drummer specifically killed it
Just checked back to see if McLovin's still killin' the skins. He is.
Adam ahahaha 😂
Ahahaahahahahaaaaa gave me tears!!!!!!!! :D
😅👍
YESSSSSS
😅
The kid on the drums is a monster!!
Полностью согласен! Ахуенный чувак)
And the dude playing bass.
Does anyone know if there are other songs he plays on?
@@stacys5314 not sure, but it you watch other O'Keefe music videos you can look for him
@@stacys5314 Curtis Moss (drummer) has a channel on YT. He doesn't upload much anymore, but I'm subscribed. 🤷♂️
After 2 months I still love watching this video. I can't fathom the hours it must've taken these kids to not only obtain the technical skill to play this song, but to perform it with the sincerity and beauty of the original.
2 month? rookie numbers!
After 10 years of watching. I still love it.
Would love to see the kids again, decade later, to see the evolution.
How about bringing back the kids that played this. Lets see how they have grown into the profession. All of them were great, but the drummer was really amazing.
Bet the drummer disappeared like the 2 baseman from Sandlot
Kala, the little girl singer is from my neck of the woods. She is still rocking! She is in a band and playing all around the cincinnati area
The Machine Most of them are in a band now! Check out Saving Escape! (My brother, the guitarist Jacob in this video, now plays the fiddle/guitar for them)
@@tonymoore8647 oh wow! What's the name of her band?
Saving Escape
Serious TooL fan for 30 years..this was amazing..Her voice..Brought a tear to my eye..Well done, all of you's!
the choice to use a girl was a great choice love it
@@justinhamilton3336 Yes, I agree, she nailed the notes too well!
Agreed! She's nailed it!!!
I'm blown away by each member but the girl can sing!!!
those little dots you use are called ellipses, its customary to use 3...never more, never less...
EVERYONE WHO WANTS AN UPDATE: My brother Jacob, one of the guitarists, is in a band called Saving Escape. The lead singer is Kala, the singer in this video. As for how everyone else is, no clue. but the band is growing fast! Launched their first original song not long ago called Indigo Road.
Minty Toast love Saving Escape here is a link to Indigo Road live. ruclips.net/video/c-ijw9zZX7A/видео.html
Thanks, I came to the comments to find out what Kala is doing these days, such a powerful voice at such a young age I can only assume it’s gotta even better I’ve the past 6 years.
Eamon Quinn I occasionally go to their performances over the years, Kala's vocals are amazing. I really need to go to more. they usually perform in the Cincinnati area but you can find more info for the future on their insta :)
I’m in Australia but I’m going to be following them very closely and really hope they make it here at some point.
Eamon Quinn theyre all around 19-20 years old and all are in college. they have fans all over the world, something i never expected to happen! they did a small tour not long ago in like New York and Pennsylvania and such, but i know eventually theyll do an out of country :)
Unbelievable still makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck ...teach them young music is life I can't put into words how this makes me feel just outstanding ❤❤❤❤❤
holy shit that bassist rocked out so hard
The singer at 3:23 with the smirk/smile on her face, she know's magic is happening.
Pretty sure that was a triumphant grin that she got metamorphisis and its timing right. Hear her sing it.
Reading your comment I became nervous of the direction, then I find a nicely packaged quip. A literal LOL.
Nah, she was watching the drummer, and was enjoying his performance as much as literally everyone else
Nathan Shervheim she nailed “metamorphosis”
Her voice is bloody haunting in this. It’s like listening to Joni Mitchell
The drummer. THE DRUMMER!!!
He was my favorite part of this cover!!
That Curtis kid fuckin' gets it!
CatFuzz71 awesome drummer no doubt about it!
Yeah that dude nails that solo. Nearly has a coronary it looks like but hangs in there. Dude is amazing
He fucking brings it.
Unbelievable... Anyone that can pull off this song's rhythm and intervals is amazing. These kids, no... Artists, just blew my mind!
They should do a reunion version of this, something like 8 years later.
YES
Please do I can't believe this is the first time I've seen this I'm not sure can get any better
Great idea Alvis!! A reunion, encore, with every single one of these kids, doing this song as they did before, but with updates from all of them so we know what they’re doing these days. I hope that O’Keefe reads this and tries to put something together for everyone to enjoy. Maybe if we, the fans, can organize a petition to make it happen again? Wouldn’t that be amazing?
The drummer is a BEAST and the singer is amazing. We'll see them both on a record label.
I coach youth baseball. I listen to this on my drive to practice every week to remind myself that kids are capable of more than we think they are.
Are they capable of practicing more than once a week?
@@jasondamour1311 four coaches. We rotate practices to fit around work schedules. The kids practice 2 to 3 times per week, but I'm only there for one of those (and games).
@@UncleBobbo I see. That makes sense. I'll bet it's a lot of fun.
I've been listening to Tool since the 90s, and this song was one of my favorites. I was driving to work one day just listening to random RUclips songs when this came around. My eyes grew wide and a goofy ass smile appeared on my face. I had lost hope in the youth when it came to music. Now, I have hope. That's what this song means to me. And to rate this song. I think this song knocked the original out of the water. I also rate it boldly as the greats cover, I've ever heard. Hands down. They owned it.
