I'm listening to this while my parents are fighting downstairs. It gives me a sense of comfort.
secret rose i think youve just given me my gcse dance theme thankyou so much for commenting this
though you comnented about a year go... yet, i wish you get through life fine.
my parents fought often too. It must be scary for you to hear them argue. Hope you have someone you trust that you can talk to. those emotions can be hard to process alone. happy you know the power of music to comfort
Share it with them
Hold on. You'll live your life when the time comes.
love this song. it's like being in a warm and comfortable bathtub
idk, thinking of whales maybe :P
@@gergelyadamhorvai3020 Like I'm with a whale, travelling La Seine in Paris, but I end up in a bathtub and speakers playing this music. What a way to capture a perfect bath time.
The composer is deep and most importantly humorous - I guess he would love these comments and yours espec..@@Delicate_Elephant
It's a dance between two lives, one consistent and one passionate. First alone, but not lacking, just there. Then twirling with utter wholeness with the violins added in. It tells a story if you look at it that way
❣️Beautifully, ✍️❣️💜💙🧡💛💚
Do you see that smoke?
That's life. It keeps changing colors, direction, patterns.
It's perfect.
Don't you wish it never stopped moving to the right of the screen?
This song reminds me of my mom, she loved this song very much. May peace be upon her.
Thanks for creating such a beautiful song.
I heard this song when I was a kid, and I just cried and smiled. I love this song
i ve been looking for this song for 5 years! oh god... my heart is melting
If someone asks me for something redeemable in humanity, music is the only pure and real thing I can think of.
Andy B Hmm, what about Ghandi, or the people out their fighting for their freedom?
Daniel King Self interested.
Andy B Because creating sound vibrations for ourselves to listen to *isn't* self interest.
Fedas it's more than that, it's expression
Andy B Nazis committing genocide against an entire race of people is also a form of expression.
This is truly a gift and so eloquently composed
this song has helped me when I struggled with anxiety a lot, it always helped me through panic attacks and general stress. I want to get the title tattooed with a semicolon to always remember that little bit of light
I saw olafur perform live last night, and it was the most incredible experience. It was absolutely beautiful if you ever get the chance to see him live, then do it !
This song is so beautiful. It makes me feel like I'm floating away in the clouds.
10 years later, still as beautiful. Captures its memories so well-
Simple things are the most beautiful. And it is so much beauty in the world...
beautiful on a lot of levels
This song makes me want to buy a bath tub
Follow your dreams of owning a bathtub.
embrace your desires
Get clean.
And swim with whales too? 😂
i don’t remember writing this
I have to say this bathtub song is one of my favorite! Went to the live concert in Amsterdam it was amazing!
the tenderness of the soul...
bathtubs. inspiring songwriters since 3300 BC.
A decade later and I still keep coming back
I was 19 when I first heard this. Still means the same today. Music is timeless
Whenever most people say the word "music" It brings thoughts of beats, lyrics, catchy tunes and crowds of cheering people. but not with me. when i think of music, i think of a special, warm feeling growing inside of you, creating happiness through melody and beauty. This song is music. and it creates warmth in my soul.
Ever since the release of this song my father has always played it. I never thought much of it but going back and listening to this song has awakened memories I never new existed. This song has so much power in each note that it comforts me through the hardships in life. Truly a amazing song.
I just learned from your performance at the Sydney Opera House (SOH) that you made this song for a bathtub commercial. It doesn't matter the inspiration or if you have played thousand of times, it is a beautiful song, keep playing it in different environments. The SOH performance was amazing. Takk for your music!
مازالت هذه المقطوعة تعبر عن الكثير من الكلام الذي يصعب البوح به..
Reported for terrorism!
So beautiful. I'm CRYING right now
Beautiful
not as you
I now now run this on a loop as I meditate. And at nights that I can't sleep. I am HIV+ and this brings me such inner peace.
I thank all who contributed to this production and know it has reached my soul here in Texas.
i'm crying. thanks
I opened this video up just to listen to the music and not for the video itself but when it started I couldn't look away, it's a piece of art in itself.
I cried, thank you. I love this song!
I'm in awe. The whole song just felt like a hug, and a whisper that everything was going to be okay.
This song reminds me of bathtubs
+upesupernova He must be so inspired by the beautiful Icelandic bathtubs...
So confused by the weird bathtub comments lol WHERE?
Listen to the kexp concert version if you want the full explanation
I'd buy a Icelandic vintage luxury bathtub on the strength of this beautiful elegant tune ^_^
This should be teamed up with some Raymond Briggs animation ...
Seriously one of the prettiest songs ever.
You know...sometimes I feel like -- I was born with a leak..and, any goodness I started with just -- slowly spilled out of me...now it's all gone...and I'll never get it back in me...
Life is a series of closing doors, isn't it?
+Chris Quiocho
It is, but let's not forget that it is also full other doors, ones that opens right in front of you, like opportunities, if you choose to look at them.
I have once heard: when something ends, something else begins.
Farewell
Think of it as a series of revolving doors.
You go round and round in one, then move onto another.
You can always have a fresh start :) 🌱
No. Life is a giant canvas. You may percieve the picture as a closed, door, but you musn't forget that no matter how hard it seems, you can always paint over it.
Think of yourself as a lone cloud. Sure, you end up leaking out all the substance within you, but you also are able to slowly regain it again. In time, you will fill full again, only to repeat the cycle. Find solace in knowing that each phase is only temporary.
maybe you leak goodness so those around you who are in need absorb your gift.
This is the only song that could make me smile, cry, laugh, and thinking about life at the same time. God, Olafur is a genius.
Bravo, bravo, maravilloso, toca mi corazón, amo el metal, pero también lo clasico y este tipo de musica tan llena de sentimientos y emociones.
The combination of music and colors makes me cry.
this and sigur ros... makes me wanna move to iceland.
You should see the bathtubs they have in Iceland
@@ximono okay, I came here to make a bathtub comment amd now shall spend way too much time scrolling through the comments in search for the bathtub effect 😂
watching the video, it's like the piano tones control one stream of colour, and the string control the other, and it's like the stream controlled by the piano is dying without the strings accompanying it, but when the strings kick in every thing goes nuts, and i know they are 2 orbs emitting colour, but i really get a sense of joy from seeing everything come to life in those moments..
I'd have bought a bathtub if they'd used this
Thank you Olafur Arnalds for sharing this with us. I cry from the inside everytime
If I could have a visualization for Winamp looking like that I would be so happy. Wow.
i was listening with a book when i 14 years old. Another level and emotion.
Wow, he must be so inspired by bathtubs
you can feel yourself floating with the smoke.. beatiful
pure motion
So beautiful, so perfect, so delicate!
I showed this my girlfriend 12 Years ago - we are still together and reminds me at our first days, thank you so mutch!
What kind of bath up has this beautiful sound?
This is a happy kind of sadness...words cannot describe what the ear hears.
I love this style. At times the music reminds of the works of Natasha Nightingale
A weary, bittersweet reflection of a beautiful and difficult life.
stupendo.....
This song brings back memories of better times.
Hilarious that this song is originally written for a bathtub commercial, most people don't know that.
Every fan that ever attended a concert or saw a live show on youtube knows that.
That's OK, it means soo much more to me.
can you send me link of that ad. ? or name ?
@@TEARFULL it ended up getting rejected irrc
I always listen to this song and see your comment every time, I'd like to thank you. Today, I needed to see that.
Love the clip.
the colors are so beautiful they repersent life and our ups and downs
He must have been so inspired by all the beautiful Icelandic bathtubs!
Everything is connected on some level. Sounds, color, light, feeling.
thankyou bathtubs...aaahhhh :)
I found this on my sisters flashdrive right before she left for college... This song is amazing...
This is something Ethereal.
I discovered this song when it just had a few dozen views. I listen to it every now and then, but wow 1.5 million views is amazing. Great job Mr. Arnalds, please continue to make amazing music.
This song is so incredibly wonderful, calming and soo touching.. I really love all of your work Olafur..You're amazing..!
I found a band on youtube called "Nyctalgia".
If you've got time, listen to their "New album teaser".
Some of the most breathtaking music I heard since a long time..
Don't get me wrong..I don't want to spam, but I just think that good music needs to be shared..
It's so charming, pure, eloquent. Now I know who has synesthesia feels.
Ólafur Arnalds - Ljósið (Official Music Video)
The Fiddler and the Maestro brought me here about a year ago, but I've been coming back every couple of weeks since.
abi çok iyi yaaaaaa....
one of my most favorite bed-time music!
If this song was inspired by bathtubs, I wonder what bathtubs look like in Iceland.
Thanks to this comment, I now know they look seamless and super minimalistic.
rare, for one thing; highly prized as a result
i fully agree. it is like the music and the video were made at the same time just to acomplish one another.
This is amazing! HAHAHAHAHA about the bathtubs! Cheers for a great night Olafur at the Sydney Opera House.
i got so upset when the smoke died off..it left me staring at my screen for a good five minutes..mr. arnalds...you amaze me.
this song doesn't make me think of bath tubs, more like a shower....... maybe that's why it wasn't used..
At exactly the 40sec mark, this brought tears to my eyes for some reason. What an amazing piece of music with such a simple visualisation.
It's amazing what the notes in music can create in the human soul. The fifth "unknown" element of relating without words or exchange...it just is. Choral and chamber music can also have the same [intentional] affect.
Didn't he say in one performance he wrote this song for a bathtub commercial?
You can find the color of peace in the music. That's why music = ART:)
Love this song-so beautiful. I only just 'discovered' Olafur a few weeks ago and he has inspired me to record some piano music which i have just put up on youtube for the first time. Would be most grateful for any feedback or support
nice work, definitely getting the olafur vibe from your olafur song!
The real olafur would be proud
+Varian Aston - sweet song
I miss you. Thanks for your taste of music.
sad, very sad song
It's a special kind of sadness which isn't that sad.
The sadness is caused by our (illusional?) feeling of beeing seperated from (our own) divinity.
It's amongst the highest, purest songs I know of.
So in the end it's not sad at all. It's unspeakable good piece of music.
Thank you so much for it, Ólafur.
It's more lonely than sad, but it's a peaceful loneliness.
That's what I feel too..
It's the feeling when you can't buy a new luxurious bathtub.
thanks to the universe for people who make such beautiful things... thanks for inspiring me and making 3:37min of my life so very happy, peaceful and worthy
Wow, anyone know what visualizer that is?
Well, actially, this has been done before. You can even download the code en execute it for yourself. (my advise). It eunfolds it`s beauty, when the code is calculated in real time and your screen gives you the most of it, without any encoding related rediction on sound and video. (Go at least, for 1080 resolution anything else spoils so much of it. Execute it yourself, if your maschine can take it.)

haayyy!!!!!
Tjtjandej I am. Hey.
Gorgeous piece of music, genuinely makes you feel like warm and fuzzy inside.
With what program is this made?
Olaf van de Kraats
He uses Ableton Live for most of his performances. Is imagine that his music is mastered using a similar software.
Piano v2.32, Viola v3 and Violin v1.01
this song makes me feel calm and just let me breathe for a second in this stressful world…
Who came here from "PressPausePlay"?
I wish i had 1/100th of his tallent. It makes me sad that i will never be able to express the things i feel and think anywhere near as beautifully as this man.
i listened to this song when it had 8k views... now it has millions of views! I'm so happy - Art is sometimes valued
the colours and the whole video in combination with this melodie is wonderful. wow. words can't describe, how i feel.
I have never seen anything more beautiful.
close your eyes and you will feel yourself floating with the smoke..
pure emotion.
thank you Ólafur
This song make me cry. Its so beatiful.
Sometimes the simplest things can be the most beautiful.
When colors speack... What a symphony is resulted!
Visual representation of music - at its finest
Never before have I described a music and it's video as breathtaking.
But this is breathtaking.
Μαγεία... Πάντα αυτή η χώρα με τη μουσική της...
