    With enough Monster Hunting experience, Nergigante honestly just becomes a pleasant fight, no major gimmicks or elements, well telegraphed attacks and a kickass theme.
    Trust me, once you get to Kushala and Teostra you'll miss Nergigante a lot.

      Kushala is a cakewalk with any elderseal weapon tbh, same for Teostra. Though Teostra is just easy even without elderseal, just gotta tank/heal/superman the big hit.

    i love the not noticing that the head slam has a hurt box when he pulls his head back out of the ground
    EDIT: the headslam is a two hit move once when he slams his head into the ground and then again when he pulls it back out you have to block both

      More specifically, if you guard point the first one there is enough of a delay that you'll no longer be blocking for the second. I *think* you can just two guard points but I haven't tried.

      @@semicolondesign He only shoots spikes if he has spikes on his head. If he doesn't have spikes, it's just the head hitbox coming out of the ground for a second attack.

    fun fact: breaking a part of a monster decreases the damage done by said part. (someone's probably already said that before lol)
    so breaking nergigante's horns can decrease the damage done by his head and breaking the spikes will technically have them do less damage. the spikes just regrow over the course of the fight.

  • @Apookel
    @Apookel 4 месяца назад +15

    Small tip: If the monster is flinched back and just standing there, you can use the clutch claw to hang onto them and increase the time they will stand there, its very useful to tenderize some parts

  • @hi14993
    @hi14993 4 месяца назад +11

    fun fact:
    You can see how much hp the monster has
    Look at the blue heartbeat beneath the monsters icon in the bottom left. It gets weaker as the monster gets weaker. It does spike if the monster is enraged though so is less reliable during enrage. So when you went down the first time, you actually had nergi on the ropes.

    • @TyrBarghest
      @TyrBarghest 4 месяца назад +2

      I've been playing World since it came out and never noticed that detail until you pointed it out. I literally grabbed my Steam Deck and had to try it. I actually stunned to see I didn't realise this sooner. It's like a EKG machine that has less peaks and valleys as the monster gets weaker.

    • @joshlewis8860
      @joshlewis8860 4 месяца назад

      The heartbeat also goes into the weakest state at like 30 or 33% health. You can capture at 25% health, so if you notice it change you’re a few good hits away from being able to end the fight.

    • @Ecliptor.
      @Ecliptor. 2 месяца назад

      Yeah, it is a shame it goes away when enraged, because monsters stay enraged 90% of the time if playing properly lol. Ever since I got more used to the claw and overall got a bit better, capturing is kinda hard unless the mon does the stanky leg.

    Nergigante is the real start of monster hunter world, the game is fun beforehand but Nerg slaps your ass, bends your finger, stubs your toe, and carts you over and over again. The fight is the major struggle of players new and old when first playing through he game. I fought him with the switch axe first which sucked, like the charge blade it was hard to hit the fucker without dying, I beat him but when fought him again I learned the ways of the Lance and Gunlance, even a little hammer.
    You've honestly been seriously impressive throughout the playthrough, you have not struggled that much compared to me and others I've seen. Just impressive all around.

    Tip for when you're mounted on a monster: the top right menu showing which moves you can use will tell you cues on what to do next. It can tell you to brace, which means holding that button on your mouse, or moving position to avoid getting slammed into a wall. Basically, 99% of the time you can just press 'W' to move and avoid the problems altogether. Only some monsters may make a move that require you to Brace regardless of where you are on their body, this will come with experience (Looking at you, Anjanath forward dash)
    Also, you can farm Urugaan to get its 2-piece setbonus. This will allow you to lol-block Nergi's ultimate :)

    The sky dims, the stars fade. The world itself loses its luster. Nature takes over the ruins of man, reclaiming what rightfully belongs to it. The moss grows in the cracks of our walls. The grass slowly creeps its way into our long abandoned homes. I have seen the stars grow distant, the earth take back what was rightfully hers, and the sun fade as the sky loses its beauty. All before YOU'VE PLAYED GREATSWORD!!!!!

    I remember needing two attempts to defeat Nergigante the first time. I had him limping the first time (I'm a fairly seasoned CB main) but definitely needed to _not_ be on my last cart.

  • @PeskyPennyX
    @PeskyPennyX 4 месяца назад +3

    When you mount a monster, instead of attacking with your knife, you can hold onto a spot you want to break and keep bracing when they try to shake you off. When they run to a wall, you can switch spots on it's back and have them smash the spot you were just on against the wall. Constantly doing this can easily break parts. All you have to do is jump back to the spot and keep bracing till they run to a wall again and repeat. You can do it about three times before the game makes you do a final attack to topple it. Breaking parts usually benefits you in some way, like reducing the damage the spot inflicts on you, turns normal grey damage number into orange, or makes some attacks fail

    Ah yes. The Terror Igel (pronounced eagle, but its german for hedgehog)
    Never had an issue with him. The first time I fought him was under 20 minutes and I was VERY disappointed as he was built up like crazy. Then... he just limped after not even 15 minutes into his lair and went to sleep. Was very bumped out tbh.
    Well turns out my endless zorah farming and me fighting nergi on his back made me learn most of his moves and his ultra slam was easy to dodge, cause I use the insectglaive. So easy for me.
    Saw a lot of people struggle though. He is a pain on the ground to fight. So gg man. Hope you learn to love him like many do. Its an amazing fight.

    My first Nergigante was when I wanted to be a Greatsword main.
    End of the story was that I was standing in camp, waiting for my buddy to kill it. That was day 2-3 of Worlds release and none of us had any idea about anything.
    After that I decided to learn Chargeblade and my view of the world changed entirely.

    my first time fighting Nergigante was a mess. I was main Sword and Shield and I got used to defending practically everything, I almost never feel the need to dodge attacks, I just had to hold block and GG... but then Nergigante came along and I needed to learn how to use Superman dive. It was fun. It took me 2 days, but I felt like I finally learned how to play the game... Well, until I met a certain monkey... then I realized that I'm not that good

    Nergigante is one of my personal favourite monsters in World. My first experience went pretty smoothly, I have a very offensive playstyle which is super effective against Nergi. I believe it was with Longsword? I don't remember. I did try speedrunning him for a bit before Iceborne came out, because he's such a fun fight. My PB was 2min 44s, which isn't exactly close to the time actual speedrunners get, but as a casual I'm proud of it nonetheless.

    I fought him back during the first couple months of launch (January~February) six years ago with great sword, even though I mainly use the Bow and the bowguns. I use great swords on big story bosses and siege runs in general MH since playing 4U. This was all before Deviljho came out during the first title update, that March.
    I was scared the whole time, and I think I might have died once. I was pretty happy when I finished him off. Try fighting him tempered, too. 😀

    Nergi destroyed me the first time, my fights looked very similar to yours. I was also using CB, but going SAED playstyle not savage axe.
    He can be super tough when you don’t know him well, but later is a cakewalk when you focus his white spikes. Free knockdown every time they break. Iceborne definitely made the fight easier with clutch claw tenderizing and claggers (clutch claw monster staggers).

    I fought the Eater of Elders with dual blades at the time. I think I was using the odogaron ones, since they looked the coolest and had white sharpness way back when. Not exactly easy, but not the most difficult fight since I was a zippy boi and mostly dodged his attacks, but he did end the hunt a couple times. And this was back before they nerfed all the monsters' health in base world, so imagine doing what you had to do with this one for twice as long XD

    tips for nergigante:
    iirc nergigante has the 2nd lowest healthpool of world's elder dragons, mechanic per bodypart is no spikes->white spikes(more vulnerable)->black spikes(more resistant), certain attacks of his will get an increased or delayed 2nd hitbox if the bodypart used has spikes on it, breaking the spikes knocks nergigante down, full body black spikes makes him do the divebomb and resets his spikes.
    offense is key in this fight, you can pretty much perma-knockdown nergigante by just dpsing wherever the white spikes are, as youll just get another knockdown if you break them as he's no longer in the previous one.

    oh boi, nergi, man, that brings back nightmares, he had us stumped for a good few hours, he was just attack attack attack and we werent use to that sort of fight at the time, i was and still am a longsword user and fighting nergi had me get real good at parrying to live real fast, im not as good any more cause ive branched out again to most of the weapons but yeah... nergi was a rough one at the time.
    also, not sure if someone has pointed this out or not, but even while your guarding you are taking chip damage, every time your hit it drains some stamina and you take damage based on your level of guard (which will be less damage than if you were hit while not guarding), should you run out of stamina while blocking an attack you will take the full damage of the attack as if you hadnt blocked it, to take less damage overall you need to get max guard up and guard plus i think, im not a shield user so i dont know for sure but i do run with a lance user that is like a wall and just soaks damage.

I know it must have slapped me around some because it does have some cheating hitboxes and two-part attacks and combos and all, but I don’t remember ever having as much trouble with it as you seemed to. I main Sword and Shield which is probably what I first beat it with but since then I’ve used I think all my other favorite weapon types: Hammer, Lance, Insect Glaive and Dual Blades. Im a dual blade main. Managed to take down Nergigante first try but I had a rough time doing it alright. Good use of vigorwasp Palico helps immensely with new fights, both because it gives you extra sources of healing and helps ease back how much you gotta burn through your items. At higher levels it has multiple skills and command actions you can give it to immediately trigger those skills again on separate cooldowns, basically doubling his heal output. Horn is great once you know fights imo but being able to take more of a beating reduces stress and makes learning easier.

    Not bad! Nergy is a jerk when you first get to him.
    Remember that in the crystal arena, there's a couple environmental attacks you can use to knock him out so you can bust out your axe. Your faints seem to be the result of overcommitting to long attack animations. So whittle him down when you can with quick attacks, and go balls out when he's down.
    I main hammer, so he's not terribly difficult bonking him with Slugger and Partbreaker.

      guardian gear would hurt him more than itd help as unlike hammer, chargeblade has "mandatory" skills such as capacity boost, artillery and focus

    my first expierece with negigate was estactic. i first saw him and new that was my favourite monster. and grinded out both sets and weapons from him.
    but im playing now and racing you to the end. and beating him again i felt robbed. because i forgot to take off the overpowered weapon blast element for the fight and swamped him easily.
    which elder dragon you taking on. im going straight to teostra

    I know that this was made 2 months ago, but I stupidly used the defender gear and now are super behind so good on you to not be using those, but I'm a longsword main and surprisingly wasn't terribly hard if you time stuff right

    When I first heard HH is the best weapon from HH main, I thought they were exaggerating, but it turns out way better than I expected. And more easy than Hammer? Maybe just me.
    After using HH, it changed my life, and now I'm solo HH main.
    If you like Hammer, use Hunting Horn. Its waaaaayyyy better than Hammer.
    Melody easy, weapon easy, you just need to learn some simple tips and tricks to get good.

    I'm starting to understand why you only keep the main stuff in the actual videos- it ends up being about an hour long when you try to include everything (5 assn. quests + any side quests inbetween) in one video.
