What do you think about the autofocus? I am torn apart now, as I had my mind set on a Sony FX3, but the image quality of Komodo is really amazing. Even though the autofocus is not that smart, I think I could manage it maybe.
Hey, thanks! I would say it really depends on what kind of content you plan to make. The autofocus of the RED is surprisingly good. It doesn’t track anything unfortunately but as long as you can keep your subject in the focus box you should be fine. I haven’t used any of the Sony cameras but I hear they are excellent. The one thing I can say is the image quality is going to be hard to beat from the RED. Still, the Sony’s look amazing too. It really comes down to preference and shooting style 🤷🏻♂️
It was a lot more simple, I just threw on a conversion LUT and some curve adjustments to bring the contrast to my liking which is pretty standard for me on any project. For a Vlog though I didn’t spend any time making any creative adjustments to colors or other things. So basically all I did was “correct” the footage but didn’t do any “grading.”
Hahahha that’s a good point… probably should’ve mentioned that. For the most part I feel like people don’t really know what cameras are or how much they cost so in my opinion it’s no more dangerous than walking around with the canon rigged up in the same way 🤷🏻♂️
Yeah, I noticed that while editing. It turns out I didn't set the RED to use the external mic so all the audio from the RED was from the built in mic which is right next to the lens.
@@DiegoKatzakian what's the raw workflow for you, I've been editing on raw video and I'm just so surprised with the amount of color you can get from the dynamic range, if you could buy it again would u go for the 6k or get the raptor or pick up something else? pocket 6k pro? fx6? lmao how bad did u want the Komodo
What RAW have you been working with? My process is honestly pretty simple. 1st a conversion LUT, RED has one online but I use one from buttery luts as I just personally like the look a little better. 2nd I do basic adjustments (color temp, exposure, curves, contrast, etc.) and usually that’s it for RUclips. If it’s a bigger project my 3rd step would be creative adjustments such as individual color changes and masks etc. As far as if I would buy another camera, I think I would stick with the RED. The raptor I can’t afford 😅 otherwise I would probably go for that. So far the Komodo is the only camera I’ve ever used that I don’t have any complaints about. Sure there are little things that could be a little better but I have never really found any of those issues getting in the way when actually filming. For example, the pocket 6K’s battery life made me have to build out a huge rig that could use v-mounts which just made it a pain in the butt to use and led to me filming very little as it was just so annoying to set up the camera. I haven’t experienced anything like that with the RED so it gets a 100% rating from me.
There is not stills option but the resolution is so high you can pull really high quality stills from your editing platform. And yes, you can choose between shutter angle and shutter speed in camera.
You can pull still frames from .R3D Raw footage and they’re super crisp. Recently upgraded to the VV-Raptor 8K came from the Helium prior. Wonderful cameras
Omg the dynamic range! 😍

And congrats on the shooting. Looks great.

I realize my response probably wasn’t much help lol, what kind of content are you thinking of making? Maybe then I can give you some better advice
Your vlog just looks like a movie 😂😂😂
The power of RED 😉
I’m here because the insane thumbnail, *subbed* much love from Vancouver Canada 😅😍😍😍
Hahaha thanks Louis! Happy you made it here!
@@DiegoKatzakian did u vlog on the 18-35mm, how did u keep it so stable 👑☺️
I did! Everything was handheld but the camera is just so heavy that it basically does not shake at all. Made my arms tired tho haha
@@DiegoKatzakian gave me the idea 🙏🏽 how was the raw workflow afterwards different from a vlog vs a project 📸

What lens did you use for komodo?
Amazing!!! I love it!!
this is awesome
I saw a mate of mine monitor his Komodo through an app on his phone. That way you can skip the larger monitor
That actually would’ve been way more efficient lmao don’t know how I forgot about the wireless transmission
First view and first comment 😎
Legend.
You must be the first that I ever come across that attempted this
I would be shit scared someone would rob me 😂

👌👌👌👍 buying KOMODO soon.
Congrats! It’s an awesome camera, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it!
@@DiegoKatzakian Thanks
Good job, remember to look at the lens and not the monitor. lol.
I’m surprised the mic picks up the lens focusing being that far up

@@DiegoKatzakian OHHH wow for a built in mic that's actually not bad XD
Yeah I was surprised honestly, quality was not bad and I even had to bump the volume WAAAAY up in post because I didn’t check the levels before 😅

Ouch about that battery
Now my question is can you take stills with the red ? Are you able to shoot with shutter angle and shutter speed ?

Fun fact only professional people who have years of experience in videography can only get the full benefit of red camera its not for kids
thats subjective
I believe cameras are tools and are to be used in whatever way one wants to use them 🤷🏻♂️
@@DiegoKatzakian true but even the greatest weapons are useless in unskilled hands ❤️ am I wrong🙏
That is certainly true! It takes practice to learn how to get the most out of tools. A good camera won’t make a bad filmmaker better.
