Hi from Texas, Anna! Diana does all her own interpretations and arrangements. Yes, contralto. I think that Diana is more advanced than Cher (I grew up in the 1960s and listened to a lot of Cher). Diana sings with so much passion and power and intensity. She becomes what she sings and captures into her musical world. Diana shakes my soul. She is now almost 18 and her voice has lowered and thickened even more. One song, "Rechenka" that she performed on this show in B minor she now does acapella in G minor. "Rechenka" should be your next one from Diana, but preferably the performance from this show. She does a very cool vocal fry line that is quite haunting!

Diana likes Folk, folk rock for her voice and less pop music. She doesn't over ornament her music as there is a plague of this in modern pop music. Her vocal color is incredibly unique. If you want more tribal folk try her signature performance of Rechenka. It's neo-tribal fusion and spectacular. At the end she uses yodeling techniques to express anguish and it's a must see if you have any interest in all pursuing more of her music. I enjoyed your comments and your opinions. :)

She start with yodelling, people doesnt like it after change her repertoar and start to sing completely different (unique) style then other singers (not sure but probably Igor Krutoy (old man - judge) cover her like tutor after she disappeared with yodeling). One from the judge said Klassa (not Boss) means extraordinery. Her cover song of Rechenka shows much more her abilities and possibilities, stotytelling, genuinely stage presentation and she sing in Russian language. An acquaintance of her mother, a musician, noticed that Diana had a perfect pitch and advised her to take singing lessons. So Diana took lessons from the singing teacher Elena Anatolyevna Kazantseva, who discovered Diana's talent. And so it all started ... The Arseniev period lasted from the end of 2008 to September 2012. During this time Diana sang around 40 songs, including at competitions. Diana's mother became her daughter's manager, she found the addresses of music competitions, negotiated with the organizers and selected a repertoire. Everything that has to do with Diana's singing training, performances and competitions is organized and coordinated by her mother Irina Ponik. She is looking for sponsors because flights are expensive and took extra sewing courses. Since then she's been sewing all of Diana's stage costumes, because all of these things consume the family budget. She accompanies her daughter on trips and captures her life in photos and videos with the persistence of a visionary. After winning a competition in Moscow, Diana's mother was offered to leave the girl in a boarding school for gifted children. She refused and in 2012 moved with her small family to her hometown of Toglyatti, much closer to Moscow. Diana now also has a grandma and has also lost her fear that the woman who gave birth to her would kidnap her. 2013-2015 Diana played in the theater studio of Dmitry Marfin, director of children's programs at the Togliatti Philharmonic Society, whom Diana valued as 'a real workaholic and fan of her craft'. After her debut on June 3, 2014 (Diana played Becky Thatcher in the jazz musical 'Tom Sawyer and His Friends'), she met Svetlana Ivanovna Vovk, the director and pop singing teacher at the Togliatti College of Music and Rodion Shchedrin, member of the jury international and national music competitions and Diana's journey continued ... Diana's voice, her perfect pitch and her sense of rhythm were extraordinary even as a little girl and so she impressed with her talent in over 50 national and international competitions. Her confidence grew, her voice continued to develop ... until one day she was asked to compete in more distant competitions so that other children could have a chance to win. So, in 2017 on February she went to Moscow, at the Russian 'The Voice Kids'. Next day, a huge scandal broke out in social medias. People demanded for Diana's participation in the competition. A door had closed but a new door opened: In 2018 and 2019, Moscow hosted the 3rd season of a unique international Competition instead of “You are Super”, which was launched in 2016 specifically for adopted and orphaned children. Diana took part and won. These performances were broadcast nationwide, uploaded to RUclips and made Diana known worldwide. She now has many millions of fans around the world. The final of the international singing competition for children 'You are Super' took place in the Kremlin Palace. The winner of the season will be determined by a 6-day public vote. Diana won a scholarship to the music college. Igor Krutoy gifted her a small apartment in Moscow so that she could begin her vocal training with the best teachers in Moscow such as Professor Olga Donskoy (she died of Covid-19 in October 2020). The break of voice made Diana’s voice darker and deeper. During her vocal break, her voice sometimes went a little crazy. You can hear it in some videos from that time. Hi Anna! New subscriber here. I've heard many reactions to this song before, but in your first listen you managed to catch all the details some of other coaches/reactors have pointed out. You are a certainly a good coach! These points are: different voice qualities in different registers, yodeling, a voice type that talks to our primitive side, contralto tesiture at a young age, "high tongue" sound that reminds of Cher (or Shakira). There are many comments with good recommendations to other Diana's performances ; I'd just add some notes to them. "Rechenka/River" (amazing performance), "Yodel time" (master yodelling at an even younger age than in this video), "Human" (expression and a bit of yodelling), "В небо" (original song).

And do not forget several things from the present day Diana. @@annavaskelainen so you know, she has been working very hard on her upper register too. He vocal coach died last winter to COVID, so she has taken a step back due to that and her studies at GITIS. With that said, her newer stuff isn’t as low in range.

You would be amazed I think cause judges was so stupid they thought that she can only yodl and didn't turn around.....after performance they talk a lot about this while ppl in audience gave her standing ovations, do one young female judge asks her to sing acapella, and she killed them with a french song!! They were so ashamed they didn't know how to get out of this situation. Boy they were hated next day in Russian social media 😁.... But God had plans for her, so she went next year to this show you watched ( and links I gave you in other comment)and won it, & next show she won again this show between winners and finalists. It's a show for orphan kids and kids with very hard life.....and she had the worth childhood ever. You even can hear this pain sometimes in her songs.. Anyway watch all this video from the Voice....and don't forget that she would be singing 2 times. There no subs,so you can skip their talk why they didn't turning you want.

You were right about her yodeling abilities, she is profound in that section and I believe that ability helped her develop her unique timber. Try "Rechenka" to solidify your oppinion. "Derniere Dance" and "Human" from the same competition were also unique and wonderful.
Diana has said Rechenka is difficult but it’s an epic performance as is Derniere Danse in French and Blizzard is one of my favorites.I’ve watched a lot of reactions and to me you take the cake so aware you pick up on everything so quickly 🤘🏼

Diana likes Folk, folk rock for her voice and less pop music. She doesn't over ornament her music as there is a plague of this in modern pop music. Her vocal color is incredibly unique. If you want more tribal folk try her signature performance of Rechenka. It's neo-tribal fusion and spectacular. At the end she uses yodeling techniques to express anguish and it's a must see if you have any interest in all pursuing more of her music. I enjoyed your comments and your opinions. :)

She start with yodelling, people doesnt like it after change her repertoar and start to sing completely different (unique) style then other singers (not sure but probably Igor Krutoy (old man - judge) cover her like tutor after she disappeared with yodeling). One from the judge said Klassa (not Boss) means extraordinery. Her cover song of Rechenka shows much more her abilities and possibilities, stotytelling, genuinely stage presentation and she sing in Russian language. The woman who gave birth to her had 12 pregnancies, only Diana survived ... and she did not love her child, abused her cruelly and tried to I drowned. Relatives found the child with a broken collarbone on the street and shortly afterwards took the 3-year-old girl to an orphanage. Finally, there she found love ... from Irina Ponik. Taking a little child into the family was not easy for Irina. Her son was already 20 years old, the daughter 17 years old ... Start all over now? Yes!!! Diana came to a poor but loving family when she was 5 years old.
Diana spoke badly, cried a lot and was still very scared but she all sing songs from cartoons. And so, the singing teacher Elena Kazantseva discovered Diana's talent. And all started ...
During 2008 to 2012 Diana sang around 40 songs, including at competitions.
Diana's mother became her daughter's manager. Everything that has to do with Diana's singing training, performances, competitions, looking for sponsors is organized and coordinated by her mother Irina Ponik. She took extra sewing courses too. Since then, she's been sewing all of Diana's stage costumes, because all of these things consume the family budget. She accompanies her daughter on trips and captures her life in photos and videos with the persistence of a visionary.
After winning a competition in Moscow, Diana's mother was offered to leave the girl in a boarding school for gifted children. She refused and in 2012 her family moved to her hometown of Toglyatti, much closer to Moscow. Diana lost her fear that the woman who gave birth to her would kidnap her.
Diana's voice, her perfect pitch and her sense of rhythm were extraordinary even as a little girl and so she impressed with her talent in over 50 national and international competitions. Her confidence grew, her voice continued to develop ... until one day she was asked to compete in more distant competitions so that other children could have a chance to win.
In 2017 she went to Moscow, at the Russian 'The Voice Kids'. Next day, a huge scandal broke out in social medias. People demanded for Diana's participation in the competition.
A door had closed but a new door opened:
In 2018/19, Moscow hosted the 3rd season of a unique international competition instead of "You are Super", especially for adopted and orphaned children. The winner of the season (Diana) will be determined by a 6-day public vote and the final took place in the Kremlin Palace and her videos were uploaded to RUclips and soon she had millions of fans.
Diana won also a scholarship to the College of Music. Igor Krutoy gifted her a small apartment in Moscow. So, she could start her vocal training with the best teachers such as Professor Olga Donskoy (She died of Covid-19 in October 2020).
The break of voice made Diana’s voice even darker and deeper. She has mastered this time very professionally and has worked hard to bring back the lost high notes and has expanded her vocal range, currently from C3 to D6. Her genres are folk-rock, folk-pop, jazz, soul, blues, soldier songs and Diana-stile… tradition meets modernity.
She loves to sing in French, but also sings in English, German, Arabic and Spanish... but only phonetically.
But she is not only a great singer and storyteller, but also a humble, intelligent and hardworking young woman. She also gives charity concerts. She loves her family and her fans. They are 'friends' to her and they are very supportive of her. Diana is grateful that they helped improve her home studio and also supported her future plans. Thank you for your time and comments for Diana. I agree with you that this performance touched my spirit in some way. Others have noted songs such as Rechenka (Russian folk), (Derniere Danse, Indila cover), Blizzard (Russian pop rock), all are good for reviews. Also Diana's newer releases are good for review Into the sky, As Your Voice, Happiness, Wave and if you want to analyze the story teller in Diana then by all means review Hornery Horses/ Finicky Horses. .........but you need to research the original performer and the context of the lyrics....... metaphorical meanings. If you want to experience pure joy, watch her YODEL performance. To see more of that power from such a little person, try her Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien.

Hi Anna! New subscriber here. I've heard many reactions to this song before, but in your first listen you managed to catch all the details some of other coaches/reactors have pointed out. You are a certainly a good coach! These points are: different voice qualities in different registers, yodeling, a voice type that talks to our primitive side, contralto tesiture at a young age, "high tongue" sound that reminds of Cher (or Shakira).
There are many comments with good recommendations to other Diana's performances ; I'd just add some notes to them. "Rechenka/River" (amazing performance), "Yodel time" (master yodelling at an even younger age than in this video), "Human" (expression and a bit of yodelling), "В небо" (original song).

You are by far not the first to mention the Cher connect. Her back story is worth a look ( have the tissue ready ). Abused child, didn't speak, raised in an orphanage. Heard other children singing and started making sounds that progressed to yodels, then words. She is a truly a inspirational young lady. Be well.

Agree with many other subscribers here - please, react to Rechenka, dated 2018, when Diana was 14. This is a true masterpiece in all aspects of performance. And do not forget several things from the present day Diana. She is a special phenomenon, a unique warm, chocolate contralto with a bunch of excellent vocal technics including perfect yodel and many other. Her range goes from C3 to D6 included, with full access to all notes. Diana is a vocal Universe, she is a Mecca for vocal analysis, a true vocal master in such an early age. Best.

Yes! I agree with J. Lahtinen. By far my favorite performance of hers was Rechenka linked above. It is quite an emotional song and similar in tempo to Wicked Game. I did want to throw out another one though since you did ask for something a little more upbeat/faster tempo. I know everyone here, myself included, would love for you to react to Rechenka, but if you wanted something in between more upbeat her performance on Dernière Danse was stellar as well linked below.
