It's worth remembering folks that Rooney got banned for swearing at the camera. He missed the FA Cup Semi-Final versus City. If Wayne had played, I'm sure United would have won, which would have not only put them in the Final, but on track to win a second treble. Just shows how pathetic an organization the English FA truly is.
But wait, United lost to Barca that year. So they still wouldn't have won the treble.

Came here after i read the ferguson book where he refers to this match. Earlier in the year Utd lost to west ham in carling cup 4-0 after fergie played the youngsters. When he was leaving the stadium, apparently all the West Ham fans were giving him lots of abuse in the car park. He said to them "We'll be back here in April to relegate you lot to the championship". Obviously we were losing this game at half time. Usually fergie would try to gradually play back in to game. But he was worried he won't keep promise to west ham fans so he decided to throw the whole plan out the window and take the gloves off hahaha his decision: take evra off, put giggs left back and destroy hahaha it worked and west ham got relegated that season!!

Annoying thing about this match is the FA decided that Rooney’s celebrations after I think he’d scored the penalty were a bit too much for the viewers on Sky so gave him a one match ban. Sadly that was against Man City in the FA Cup semi final which we went on to lose 1-0.

The story goes, West Ham thrashed us earlier in the season when SAF played kids in the Carling Cup. A coach on West Ham made comment SAF didn't like, and then WH fans gave him stick in the parking lot after the match, to which SAF told them he'd make sure next time United and West Ham played, we'd stomp them and West Ham would be relegated.
Most notably, when 2-nil down from those penalties, SAF pulled Evra and put in Giggsy at LB, changed the whole game plan, and we went on to put 4 past them, including a Rooney hat trick.
West Ham were relegated shortly after. 😂

Rooney 2009-12, at his peak. As great a signing as RVP was, his arrival disrupted Rooney as a player. Thats when Ferguson started to play him in all these different positions rather than a pure ST/CF.

I was there right on the border of the WHU MU fans behind the goal.. first game I ever went to. Instantly fell in love with everything United
Black lightning I literally don't recognise them. If you'd have asked me on the drive home from that game what the next 8 years would hold for us, 7th place in the league wouldn't have even crossed my mind. Don't get me wrong, I'd give my life for my club, but that deal is looking more and more like a rip off each day..
