Overpriced is going to be a no. The bezels are gross but that's kinda what comes with the price. Same goes for battery life. Performance isn't important to the target demographic for this phone because those people would buy actual flagships.

Performance is good for daily use, battery life is fantastic and price is alright. Bezels is a negative but you don't think about it when using it daily

I've had my 4a for about 3-4 years now is it worth the upgrade? Mine still runs fine I feel but it does bug out. Calls don't show up on the screen for 3-4 rings, it frequently "gets stuck" n I have to restart it. I loveee this phone so just wanted to see if it's worth it or should I stick it out n deal lol.

For these guys every phone is PRETTY GREAT
They have average salary more than 5000 dollar per month, so it's 10 percent of their salary but in India 95 percent people earn less than 50 dollar per month, RS 40k is too much for us only some govt employees and some good private post offers salary more than 40k Indian rupees.
Everything depends on financial status of country, for them bmw is just a brand of car , in India only ultra rich can afford cheapest BMW model available.

In countries like India, the salaries are low but basic necessities are also cheaper. So a middle class Indian might earn 5 times less than an American but they have the same standards of living but only when it comes to basic necessities.
Once we start talking about international products things change completely. Middle class Indians will not be able to afford the things middle class Americans can if they're priced the same internationally.
Things that are locally produced do not have this problem.

@@thedster1239 the whole lineup sucks. The 8a is pure trash. 8 and 8 pro are good but they have awful chipset compared to apple or Samsung. Plus also Google has the worst price drops .
I bought 8a just becuse of the bezles. Every phone i had with slim bezles i slap Otterbox defender case on it to get bigger bezles. I like chunky big bezles

Bro even 180$ phones have 93.3% screen to body ratio. Atleast they could have made less bessels at this price range. And it's not midrange there are lot of flagship phones out there with the same exact price.
It has the same chipset as the 1000 dollar counterpart. Not everything can be perfect about it.

Yes, $500 is nothing. You must not be aware of what the typical price of products people actually want to buy is. The iPhone is up at $800, and Samsung's S23 isn't much lower than that.
@ElusiveTy it's not nothing. No one actually wants to buy an iPhone or galaxy. They do it for status and to fit in to make themselves feel better since they are empty inside.

@@Video_Fiend Man, i didn't say anything about iPhone so why mention it? The best we can do is stop buying this 💩 products be it iPhones or Androids, so the manufacturers won't even produce it anymore.
This phone is so great that I bought it yesterday and am returning it tomorrow. No aux jack, no external storage, doesn't come with a power adapter, usb c to c cable is short af and why did we move away from usb c to standard usb, video quality is dog shit at night, so many invasive ad settings turned on by default. Like sincerely for a company who's motto is Do no evil and then they rip customers off like this. Google your product sucks and btw you ruined the web for everyone.

That's a shitty phone for the price range over here in India. It costlier than S23 base variant and in similar price of iphone 13-14. And yes don't forget about heating issues and lack of performance

If you buy it through Google's Google Fi phone service it's only $250. I just ordered it last night and after shipping and taxes it cost me $316.

I bought this recently, and it's the quickest trade-in I've ever done. I've used Android phones since the Samsung Galaxy 3. But I despise that Google don't allow for the reordering of the navigation buttons. That's been a basic feature with every Android phone I've used so far. It's stupid to be like this with such a trivial thing, but it's permanently ingrained in my muscle memory now. I thought Google phones would offer more freedom with customisation than others, not less.
You use nav buttons... there's your issue. Not the preferred method on a Pixel so it doesn't get attention I guess
@BigBampot But it's a phone. It's not like it was designed specifically for people that couldn't move their thumb to the bottom of the screen. Every other android phone I have used has had both preferences as a feature. I feel this would only be acceptable if Google was first with it's navigation method prior to other phones introducing the buttons. Google just took away a basic feature that there's no reason not to implement as an additional choice. They're not gaining anything from it.

Just taken delivery of mine. Had a 7a before. The new 8a feels similar but FAR more refined and smooth with the 120 hz display and curved edges. Love it.

Too small for me, I returned the S24 which I thought was powerhouse of a compact phone however I like the biggest screens

I had a 4a and the screen busted after a small fall. 8a has the same Gorilla Glass 3, which is from 2013! So you're getting up-to-date stuff inside, but the outside tech is 11 years old!
Useless without bumpers and screen protection etc.
I'm a happy 6A user. But super hyped to get my hands on this one.
It pisses me off that a Chinese phone for 150$ can make the bezels completely even with no chin and they still don't do it on a 500$ flagship company!

What should I get with 300$-500$
I'm looking for clean Android UI, good battery, good performance, good screen and I don't care about the cameras
My options are currently between Pixel 7 Pro , Pixel 8 or Pixel 8a or a Samsung A model , a New Motorola or something like a nothing or OnePlus
I don't want it for $500 I'll pay $250 .
Doubtful it'll go that low,in few months maybe you'll be able to find it at 400-450$, in a year maybe 350$.
For 500€ you can find a new Pixel 8.
I know I'm just not impressed with it .

@@unrenownedc i never said that and i will never say that, see the chipset heats even in normal usage, can't record video after 30min or so, call drops(network stability has always been concern) priced 50k+, doesn't have proper service center in India we have to give it their service executive and wait for more than a week to get repaired.. there are more problems, for me biggest problem of pixel phones is their tensor chipset.. if they went for sd processor like old days(pixel 2 xl, 3a,4a) then only i will consider buying pixel again

Its probably by design that it comes with the screen set at 60hz. I would leave it at that. Who is staring at their phone acreen SO MUCH that it actually would make a difference to have a 120hz screen? Take a call, respond a message. The ocassional video. What else?
