- This is a review of the new Google Pixel 8a. I have used the Pixel 8a for one month, and one month later, I feel as though the Pixel 8a is one of the most misunderstood phones available in 2024. This is my honest review of the Pixel 8a One Month Later.

I like a bezel. For the same reason I frame a picture before I hang it on the wall. Bezel phobia is largely a RUclips phenomenon
Yup 😂😂
Bezel looks kinda cool. Dunno what they're talking about
I had p7pro which had pretty small bezels and a waterfall screen, and it looked cool, until it fell on the asphalt and the screen died, then i bought 8a and bezels don't bother me at all, and sometimes I even like them, because I have more space to put my palms on while gaming or smth
Bezel looks ugly af
True, bezels actually draw your eyes to the display better .
I really like my Pixel 8a! It's very comfortable in the hand, and it's very snappy and fast. With top cameras and 7 years of updates. I'm happy! No negative thoughts at all! And I like your videos very much!👌👌
@@nl101010 appreciate the info, especially from someone who actually has the phone! Thanks for watching!

@@sidharthshivappa1359 glad to hear you’re enjoying it!
Is the hate for the Pixel 8a justified or overblown??
it is justified mostly because of the sales surrounding the regular pixel 8, but the back panel being matte really is a nice touch.
@@augusthirdsm yeah the pricing of the pixel 8 has a big influence on whether or not the 8a is worth it.
Really I love the design with the little extrude of the visor compared to the pixel 8. But yeah the screen bezel is a NO 😅 even the nothing 2a as thin bezel for a low price like why Google skipped it ?!
not really, that's right that a lot of places will have a lot of sales for the p8 that will make it "near" the p8a but not all countries have sales that are worth it or almost have no sales for the p8, so its dependable in where you live.
@@augusthirdsm I think the matte plastic back is, contrary to what some people say, a very big positive feature of this phone ! I mean, yeah plastic is cheaper for the manufacturer, but it also doesn't crack as easily as glass, doesn't take fingerprints anywhere as fast as glass and IMO looks really dope !
Got it for a month now, it's a gem

can you help me out with your experience till now about the phone? I'm thinking of buying it but i wanna know how the battery goes and the charging speeds ?
Same people complaining will buy a 300 dollar Chinese phone with a huge display and lie about how happy they are despite their lack of software support, garbage tier cameras and unbearable bloatware
Its hilarious coz this also happens with the Pixels. Except its 400 usd and has shitty performance.
Those Chinese phones have a better screen, processor and will still hold strong even after updates stop. The Pixel a series is more rounded but quite a lot of people don’t care about the camera.
I'm a Pixel fan, but at the same time I hate it too..
I'm fan because it's simple, has best photo processing that can compete with flagship phones. I hate it because it has shitty charging speed (35 W max is on the pro one), not much performant, quite laggy (one gets fixed on new update, another one appears..)..
I love my Chinese 300$ phone because it has everything (and even more) that I need, except Pixelish camera quality. Its performance is much higher than pixel pro series. So it's better to buy new cheap Chinese phone every 3 years than buying 2x pricy but less performant pixel pro..
@@voogarixwhich 300$ Chinese phone would you recommend?
@@JinjiFeng it's up to you bro. Personally I prefer Redmi series..
I have the phone and was annoyed about the bezel at first. I dont even notice it now, the phone is that good. They even sort of fixed the shitty radio! (Edit: Google doesn't provide proper fast charging because they really do suck at keeping their chips cool)
@@CartManBrahhhhh nice to hear I’m not alone, when you actually use the phone the bezel is the last thing you think or care about!
Whining about the bezel is such a joke. Like lets be real. You notice it the first time you pull it out the box then never again

This is probably the best a series pixel they've released, literally feels like a flagship phone. Super smooth and fast. I've had the 6a it did the job but you could tell it was cheap, but this one is awesome keeping this one for a while for sure I love it
It’s a very good phone. Pixel 8a is getting 7 years of software support for 500.00 bucks wtf do ppl except!?

I'm receiving my Pixel 8a through the mail today, can't wait for it to be here after months of research (and years of already keeping up with the latest news and models of a lot of brands of smartphones) !
I shoot a lot of photos, even have a hybrid camera for more "serious" shooting, and even now with my Pixel 6 (so a much older model regarding camera systems and processors of the Pixel family) I often use my phone as a very qualitative alternative to my camera in certain conditions. The RAW pictures taken with this phone really aren't anything to be ashamed of, so I can't wait to compare that with my new 8a !

I have a Pixel 8a for a month now and all works very good. I have it most of the time Off Internet/data or even in Airplane mode. Accu battery just needs to be charged once a week as I was used with my old fashioned Nokia's.
It has all functionality needed in countries where a smartphone is kind of mandatory to exist in the system. Even reading a passport chip.
Nice OLED HD screen, little smaller and less weight than other smartphones and I do not care about the bigger frame around it.

"The bezels issue blown way out of proportion" - procedes to talking about bezels for 3 min...
I'm not a Pixel user but I recently bought Samsung S23 FE US version for the similar price and it has similar thick bezels that no one is talking about.
I had a pixel 6. I upgraded to a 8a simply because it supports USB C to HDMI, which I use for mirroring for my projector, which the 6 and 7 do not.
No access to the phone from the back. I used to be able to pick up my Motorola and, using my index finger, start operations by tapping the Motorola symbol. Can't do this with the Google 8a, which I find a somewhat extreme disadvantage. Can someone tell me a way around this? Is anything other than the flashlight available on the back??

This phone is the true successor to Pixel 5
I'm using the Pixel 8a for the exact same time as you and I can say I 100% agree with your words except for the heating up. When is hot outside and I'm heavy using it, it becomes hot as hell and also has recharging issues, some times it just stops charging if it's too hot. That the worst thing about the phone imho.
I live in a very hot area, thanks for the info. This was a big problem with the Pixel 4a for me - it would just turn off while driving home due to heat.

I have such buyers remorse with the 8a. I wish I'd done more research before I got persuaded by t-mobile to get it. It's horrible and I really miss my old phone which was much easier to navigate.
@@DJ-ll4mq sorry to hear, what seems to be your biggest pain point? And what phone are you coming from?
@@JSLReview My last phone was an LG-M327. They don't make them anymore and after six years, it was starting to fail so I had to get something else.
The thing is, it may not have been that sophisticated but it was easier for me to use (I'm 65)
There was a "clear-all" button on it so whatever app I was in, I could quickly and easily exit if I needed to. The Pixel 8a is a real pain in that regard. I swipe up, down and backwards and sometimes just can't clear the screen. It feels very busy to me - getting from one app to another is extremely frustrating. I never experienced this with my other phone.
The most awful thing is my contact list. The contacts (and there are a lot) are not mine. I don't know who they belong to. Yesterday I contacted Google chat for assistance. TWO AND A HALF HOURS and NO RESOLUTION. The chat was totally useless. In the end, I just broke down into tears and gave up.
So; here I am with a phone I find hard to use that I feel T-Mobile mislead me into purchasing (I was supposed to get a free phone with the plan).
To top it all, this new phone doesn't even feel like it's mine because it's filled with someone else's photos (from a Greek holiday) and phone numbers for contacts that I don't recognize. I can't begin to tell you how much regret I have about purchasing it but thank you for asking.
@@DJ-ll4mq You should go back to T. Mobile and cancel your order. Explain why and get a refund. It´s your right to tell them you are not satisfied as a customer.
People complain way too much about the bezels on the 8a. Yet the base model iPhones that are $250 more still have that ugly ass notch that to me it was more of an eye sore. Where the value comes in is the 7 years of support and getting most of the 8 and 8 pro experience for much less. I have owned Pixels off and on since the 4a and each year I'm drawn back to them when they are on sale for the value they offer. At the moment trying to decide between the 8a and the base 9 model. A huge reason I'm considering the 8a is if it goes on sale it'll be half the price of a 9 and I'd still be getting most of the same experience.
I want to buy this phone and keep It for like 7 years due to updates. I would like to know if the version of 128 GB Is enough (i save everything on Cloud but i don't know about sistem and updates)
Yes
I used to scrutinize and compare every phone i bought or wanted to buy and thought of myself as my own "educated" user and reviewer. I stopped a long time ago because I had been using 3 phones for daily use for a long time. I'd swap phones like a hobby. As more time went by. I found I used my budget phones more than the flagships i owned. The mid range phones are so good these days that they're really enough for me.
why is asphalt 8 always the default gaming benchmark 😂 where clash of clans at
Who cares about the bezel. It’s an affordable solid phone. Alot of people are becoming too picky about their phones. Imo, it should be a decision of what software ecosystem they prefer.
I got the 8a yesterday to test it out from google store. In the category of budget phone, its a good phone. But when it comes to the OS experience, if you like customization then go android. But if not, just go ios. Im actually returning the pixel and sticking with my iphone. Im older now and realizing that the customization ability is not important anymore.
Just picked one up for $250 from Google Fi!
Get over the bezel. Google phones are brilliant

Ive had this phone for months now, I'm disappointed with the lack of personalisation. No earphome jack is always terrible and the screen for the apps is awful, you can't change it at all ands its all just in alphabetical order. You quite literally have to live on the home screen as all your apps get put in a big ugly list
I like it so far.
For someone who’s not worried about the bezels … why are you talking about them so much ? They are there , it’s the budget phone so if it bothers people , buy a more expensive pixel .

Love the Pixel 8a I got for $399 with 6 months free with 12 month plan from Mint Mobile Unlimited service. Phone and service for entire year $580 all in. Crazy savings over my T Mobile Magenta plan for the past 2 years that was $2400. Much better pictures than my s22 and battery life. Love the 8a design better than the new Pixel 9 that looks and feels like Iphone and Samsung blocky in hand feeling. I am sure it is a great phone, but there is not anything I cannot do on the 8a for less money with no penalty in performance.
Google phones are the WORST.... To the whole world , the boast of having the best technical minds. but in reality their phone sucks.... I bought few google phones in the past, it cant handle the pressure of me using it - like more hours of calling or extreme browsing... YUCKKKKKKK.
Ok guys plz help me out here. Pixel 7 pro vs 8a. Which is a better buy considering both are just a 10% price apart (8a is the more expensive one but doesnt matter). I just can’t decide on it
Work gave us $500 to spend on a phone. I grabbed a Pixel 8a ‘free to me’ not expecting much. Kinda blown away. It punches way above its weight. I put a case on and don’t notice/care about the bezels because the screen is pretty damn good. Chews through what I throw at it without a hitch, doesn’t get hot, feels very nice in the hand and takes very nice pictures that rival my iPhone 15 pro max until it comes time to zoom. The crop to 5x with Googles editing tools can produce some great images too. Battery life easily gets me though a day with 3-4 hours SOT. Great bang for the buck if you ask me.
If people are fussed over the or a bezel, I'd say that's extreme superficiality. A thinner or thicker bezel will neither make your life better, nor matter if Russian tanks are rolling i. Most reasonable "bang for buck" is all that's needed.
Trust me big bezels give u ugly feeling in 20204
Most of the hate is straight up just dimwits. Moaning about something that's not an issue. Jo it's not a big bezels Jesus get over it.
The 8a is amazing & I would 100% buy it again if my mother wanted one.
People whine to much.
This phone just went on sale for Google fi customers, 359$ for 256 gigs! I am going to jump on it!
Having “hate” for some inanimate object that one is not obligated to buy, or even deal with, let alone being forced in some way is not justified no matter what the fuck you say. People don’t even use these phones anyway regardless of how good they may or may not be. Everyone either gets an iPhone or Samsung iPhone Samsung iPhone Samsung. So I’m not sure why anyone even cares enough to be mad about a phone they never had any intention of buying/using in the first place. The sheep just want iPhone and Samsungs. Maybe someone with low income sports the occasional freebie Motorola
Except the notification sounds do not work in Google Messages. I use Textra and it works fine. Google drops the ball again as notifications have not worked correctly for years.
Okay so if my budget is $500 what phone should I get? I really care about the camera and the battery life and strong chipset🙃
That camera IS obtrusive. The video game doesn't look good with that camera there. I watch movies on my phone and wouldn't want that there.
Wireless charging n 7yrs of updating and a pretty good battery life! Plus Google is good about giving updates for battery efficiency.

Have had it 2 weeks. Got it free with trade in. So far, excellent. I have a Samsung S23 also for work. Honestly love the use so far. Something about the feel of the phone, OS feels clean and the device itself just has a quality feel. Bezels, while larger than many, are unnoticed with a case on the phone. People really nitpick about the weirdest stuff. To me the Pixel 8a actually does look a bit like the blue iPhone Xr which is amazing for me, cos the Xr was one of my favorite iPhones ever made, and I've always wanted something with that look and feel but updated hardware.
