I love the small things he took consideration of, as the placing of washer and dryer further from the living space/bedroom. This truly makes a difference, small but still significant to improve the living conditions. Although some aspects of the place are not quite my "vibe" I do really love it, the use of materials, the placements, how it truly caters to the owner's needs (living alone and thus not having a need for more things, like sofa).

I'm Korean and a longtime subscriber to NTS and I had such a big smile when I saw this on my home page! I love the modern redesign of the apartment and I loved seeing the Korean representation on this channel. The layout of this unit is quite typical of a small Korean apartment (usually referred to as "officetels" or "one-rooms") but the remodeling seems like it was perfectly suited to the client's needs and elevates the unit with the high quality finishing/appliances, built in accents and storage/entertainment unit. Altogether a great design and I could definitely see myself living here (although I'm not sure if I can pay the remodeling fees!) Great job, Pil :)
Small space living is quite common in Korea, as you can imagine with the number of NTS videos featuring homes in East Asian countries. We value efficiency, quality, and aesthetics very highly and there are a lot of other Korean interior design channels that I think a lot of people would love here. My favorite is 오늘의집 (Today's Home) for if anyone's interested!

I love the simplicity and functionality of this design. It spends space where it's most useful and conserves it where it's not. Some designs seem more oriented around entertaining guests at home, which always seems antithetical to choosing to live in a tiny apartment in a dense urban neighborhood. Just go out to a restaurant! You live in the middle of the city, there are 100 of them within walking distance! I love designs like this which instead prioritize making the primary resident comfortable and happy in their space.

If thaťs the owner's priority, what the rest of us think or want is immaterial. Thaťs the beauty of a bespoke project.

    • @VMYeahVN
      @VMYeahVN Год назад +1

Eh i don't think the only option for entertaining guests should always be going out to a restaurant or other public place where you have to spend a ton of money. Sometimes it would be nice to have your friends come over for a small gathering that is in private (for example a movie night with your friends where everyone picks a favorite movie to bring, which you can't do in a public theater). And with apartments this size you literally can't do that. For me, a place like the one in this video but even just bumped up to like 600 square feet up from the 480 it currently is, just so there's room for a decent sofa for when i would want to have like 2 or 3 friends over (or even slightly more space for the office area, because my work requires i have two monitors instead of one for example) would be ideal in my opinion. But it's personal preference or depends on how you like to interact with your friends i guess.

Love how the designer tailored this to his client's specific needs. He did a great job creating discrete living spaces in a long, rectangular space without making it feel choppy. I particularly love how you can see all the way to the window from the door: it's not at all closed-off. And I always appreciate a design where the computer or work area can be tucked away when it's not in use. Plus, all that storage! Very well-done.

This is simple yet incredibly chic. It's obviously well thought out and designed by a professional, but it's not over designed. I love those sliding wooden doors. The only thing missing for me would be a comfy couch which I would use a lot even when living alone.

Love how everything here looks cozy and warm. The wood definitely is a great choice, it's a traditional element that's been streamlined and is both decorative and functional. I particularly like that you can cover the office space to partially hide it - it creates kind of a physical as well as mental barrier between work and sleep. The kitchen is wonderful, especially for such a small space. It feels like everything the client needs to be comfortable has been thought of without sacrificing space.

Ahhhhh! This is what is known as bowling alley apartment / condo where I used to live. You come in and you have a window somewhere far at the end of the long narrow space. I hate this layout and developers who build apartment buildings like this. I mean this is 45 square meters. You should be able to have a separate small bedroom with this much space. Having said all that kudos to architect/designer for making the most of it - creating storage, great kitchen (and thinking of how easy it would be to clean!!!) and listening to client.

whow. That is a gorgeous apartment. LOVE all the details and thinking that went into it. The continuity of the panels from the kitchen to the bedhead ... the soft lighting everywhere, the choice to not have overhead cabinets in the kitchen, the noisy appliances far away from the bed... so many details that are just very very well thought out and it still looks "clean" and sleek.

This is very nice, yet for myself, I would prefer to have the living room at the end of the space beside the windows, the kitchen in the middle, and the bedroom, enclosed, beside the bathroom. I never understand why people like to have light and airy bedrooms when it's where you sleep. I like my bedroom dark. Plus, bedrooms should always be near the bathroom, IMHO. 😊 But the storage wall is great and it's a lovely space. It's also cozier than so many of these NEVER TOO SMALL spaces. I like lots of colour in my home, which so many of the NEVER TOO SMALL homes are lacking. However, it's very interesting to see the layouts of the spaces, and decorating is a personal thing. ♥

Simplicity at its finest. Nir as easy as it seems to reco simple, minimalist solutions when it aeems the prevailing mantra is "flashy is better". The ergonomic chairs in lieu of the usual couch speaks volumes about how the designer tailored the design to the client's personality and preferences wothout compromising on the aesthetics.

Not sure I agree with everything, but a solution I definitely love is that the lights have been placed in such a way that the light is cast onto the wall, from which it bounces off and lights the room indirectly.

It's nice, practical and well lit, though I do sort of feel like it has a hospital room vibe to it. Perhaps it is the end of the bed, the tile floor and/or the rather bare walls in the living room space. I think that most of that (for me at least) could be sorted with some artwork, different seating furniture, some different lighting, and perhaps a square of carpet in the space.
Still the practicality of the layout, and style of the decorative sliding door walls is quite nice. I particularly like the area around the desk and office area. I can't tell you how often I have heard that you should never mix your bedroom with a office space as it will keep you awake at night with thoughts of work. However in this apartment you can simply shut the door on your office space as if it where a separate room giving you some space from work. Yes, I know that you can still see through the slats, but I think it still disguises the area enough change the feel of the bedroom.
