- Seriously this is extremely Rare hand forged tools that I have ever restored so here you see me restoring rusty antique anvil and a hammer which is one part of a set and were used in blacksmithing. It was not easy to restore such ruined things but this is not my first restoration so I tried my best and did really great work with amazing outcome.
This restoration took me too much time and it was not easy to make since I had a ton of other secondary work which consisted in making of many small and complex parts by design which were mostly made by my hands. However the final result really surprised me and to be Honest I didn't expect such rare things will become that perfect but this is my personal opinion and yours I hope to hear in the comments.
All the processes of restoring this relics are below:
Forging:
It is not always possible to have necessary materials for project as well as not easy to make. I took two giant rusted bolts and turned them into long steel strips all the forging i did with my hands.
Grinding:
I used my professional angle Grinder to remove roughness from metal. I also used stainless wire to make surface more smooth.
v. I cleaned tools with Abrasive Compound.
v. For rust removal is nice to use Vinegar with Salt.
v. Hand Sanded the surface to remove roughness.
Handle:
There is a professional method to make a good handle and that is
Choosing a right material such as Elm wood also the most important is to wedge a handle and for this purpose we can use various techniques such as crosswise or straight. Wedging a handle is the best way to increase the Strength, Grip and Toughness of the hammer.
Base:
It is traditionally made out of huge and heavy wooden log. And the purpose of anvil stand (base) is toughness and steadiness to withstand critical loads.
Some of materials used for the base.
v. LOG: I took massive acacia log and sawed off with a chainsaw, then turned into a beautiful and really ancient look piece with an installation socket in the center.
v. SPIKE: This is little metal piece which holds steel strips and do not give the base to collapse. I made them by forging rivets into my homemade forge.
v. COATING: The best protection for wood is coating with Natural tar which penetrates deep into the wood and protects against rot.

Forging is my favorite passion and today I got a chance to make a special restoration of very old anvil and a hammer which are main tools of every blacksmith. So I hope you enjoy watching the video and tell me your opinion in Comments as well as put Thumbs up, which I always appreciate :)
Would like to see you forging on that anvil.
As a blacksmith i can say it turned out really nice. I loved that you kept patina instead of grinding the whole thing to shiny metal, like most people would do. Good job!
yo imma be learnin blacksmithing in 2 days wish me luck lol
@@redacted999 hows that going for you?
I like how you made the anvil stand, with those blackened iron bands and the spike-nails. Very rustic-looking and medieval. :D
Watching you save forgotten pieces of the past to make them your own. And not only that…use them to create beautiful works of art. That’s my favorite part. You also have amazing camera skills. The shots of nature. The process in whole is detailed, and yet you keep your audience’s attention. You are a genius in my opinion.
well done man just perfect
Great nails! If you dull the point instead of making it sharp, it will prevent splitting the grain. I really enjoy your work! Cheers
As an Artist, I'd just like to say:
"You're an Artist!"
It's the imperfections, that made this project perfect.
"Bolts into strips" 👆😲
was my favorite part!
Now! This is a proper restoration.
Oddly, my favorite parts was making the steel straps, the nails from rivets, then attaching.
One of the best restoration videos I’ve seen, they are beautiful
The key is knowing how far to go and when to stop. Beautiful job.
This is absolutely beautiful. I smiled involuntarily at the final reveal
I love it. The end product was eye candy to me.
Finally, someone that lets the natural beauty of metal show. Perfection isn't beautiful, it's boring.
The thumbnail makes these pieces look like quite a nice sculpture.
I liked The Whitish-yellow glow of the metal coming from you home forge .
You are very talented.
Well as someone who wants to get into forging I think the whole process is interesting.
My favorite ever is forge process
One of the few craftsmen, who retains the texture of the object of restoration. I finally waited for it)
Excellently done. Almost too nice to use.
Well done sir.
Change your site name to "Damn Near Perfect!" It brought back memories of forging with my dad. A lot of work, yet a lot of fun.
Amazing skills 👌 great job
Very nice. Thanks.
I would be honored to have those epic tools in my shop.
I like the whole process
To me, the anvil stump was the best part. I've watched a million hammer and anvil restorations on the tube, I can't say that I've ever seen this type of anvil and stump before. Very enjoyable, the finish was awesome. 👍👍
Thank you🙂
I think this ranks as one of my favorite all-time videos I’ve ever watched. Your passion and attention to detail really translates to a beautiful end product. Well done!
Thank you, I appreciate that
So beautiful
Dude!! Amazing, love your videos!!! The homemade lathe, making own straps, everything. Your creativity and skill is awesome
I like how you use other restored tools and utilities from other videos...
Probably the coolest little set iv ever seen!!!! And that home made lathe.... absolutely awesome...who says you need fancy tools to get the job done!!!
This is absolutely beautiful. I love all the different textures. Forging and shaping metal is always mesmerizing to watch.
Spectacular¡¡¡
Awesome Awesome Awesome... Outstanding restoration ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you 😊
Amazing job
what a great restoration! Lovely anvil at the end! Great job!
Excellent work! Thanks for sharing and take care 👍
a quick glance at the thumbnail and I thought I was looking at a unique rock formation. nice job.
Хорошая работа!
Great job, basic tool restoration
The spikes you made were awesome work, well done
Awesome video. Thanks 🙏
Beautiful
Man, things you doing are just Amazing! Most i like in your content is accuracy and quality. You forged 2 big steel bolts into strips?! wow! i'm pretty sure that was not easy to do, i wish this video get milions and milions of views because it deserves! ❤
Thank you mate, yes worked hard so took me a while, I hope So! :)
i love your video sir helps me fall sleep 😊 thanks for sharing
Attaching the steel bands was my favourite part of the process.
Super cool!
That's awesome Good job.
Beautiful work!
Amazing!
That's super awesome 😎👍🏻
Forged in fire champion
Absolutely beautiful job... I can’t wait for more... All the way from Dublin 🇮🇪
Wow. Kudos and respect.
Awsome! That anvil made me think of the "mästermyr" find from the iron age found in Sweden, thew hammers has not changed much either ower all those years.
Reminded me of that find as well. Don't need a huge anvil to make good work just a solid base for it to sit in. Hammers are simple yet beautiful to me.

Long time ago i worked with a guy who made some reconstructions of the content, he managed to get som bloom iron from wich made the hammer, restored a similar anvil, and made the pliers and large tong, on the large tong he decided to make one half of the bloom like orin and the other half from modern soft steel in order to compare the properties of the materials, he also did came to the conclusion that thay used an especiualy selected hard stone as complement for the small anvil.
He tould me that it all worked flawless and way ower he's own expectations. The response from the stone was a bit softer compared to a modern anvil (the stone does not last forever, but if it is carefully selected it will last for a very long time and leave a smooth surface) and the tong also had a more soft and smooth grip (particulary on the bloom iron side) he said.
He showed med the hammer and as he tould me the design had realy not changed much, it is mainly that we are often using more steel in the modern tools (but modern steel are a lot harder to work with so that make sense).
Later a blacksmith friend tould me that he read old legends from Iceland about men diving in the sea in order to find the perfect anil stones. (i think most of the rocks there emanates from volcanic activity, so i guess the quality are extremly various on Iceland or areas where one hawe limestone (like in sputhern scandinavia), compared to where i live in the north where we hawe solid granit rocks naturaly smoothed by the ice in the ice age, wich was what he used in the experiment, it was not particulary big, i think about the size of a mans head in the experiment) (Just remember to use safter glasses if You want to try in case sharp pieces may fly off the rock.)
@@sheep1ewe stone anvils are used throughout the African continent as well. When iron is more difficult to make and much more costly it makes sense. I haven't had the opportunity to use wrought iron or bloom iron in my forge yet but it is something I want to try. I would like to try an anvil stone some day, safety glasses are always a must. My primary forging hammer is actually a similar shape and it is a modern hammer from a hardware store so they are still very similar
@@josiahtheblacksmith467
A few years ago i wisited a live exhibision where they made a reconstruction of a pit oven, he tould me that it took about 6 hours for the smelting process only... The carbon content was adjusted by altering the proportions of roosted bog iron and carcoal correlated to the oxygen pumped in with the bellow set.
It had been realy fun to try that one day, i allredy found pretty good quality bog iron on my fathers property i think held a usable amonth of iron oxide, my father tould me that in aincient times thay used to build watertraps fo bog iron incrustions they collected in the autumn, i am not sure if it is an entierly chemical process or if bacterias hawe a role, as the rust water pounds in iron mines.
@@sheep1ewe from what I have read it is a bacterial process and a bog can be harvested roughly every 20 years, if it is a large bog you harvest different sections each year. I really want to build a bloom furnace in my backyard some time just to try it. No bog iron In my area but there are other sources of ore here.
What an awesome project! Dude, nice job!
So Cool!
Excelente trabalho 👏 🇧🇷
Beautiful job I like how you kept things true to their nature.
At last someone who doesn’t kill the objects by mirror polishing them.
super!
Spectacular 🔥🔥🔥!!
Very nicely done,,
I loved this entire video but if I had to say which part I liked best? It is the forging. You are multi talented and it is a pleasure to watch you work. Well done and please keep postig.
Thank you mate i appriciate that, yes forging is very interesting thing to do as well as to watch 🙂
super , Good job.
Well that takes us all back to a time when if it was metal, the blacksmiths made it, buckles to house nails. Nicely done sir very nicely done indeed.
Another GREAT restoration! Awesome job!
You asked what part of this video I liked best. Hard to say, there were SO many disappointing
segments but I guess the part I liked best was......
EVERYTHING!!!!!
Very well done sir.
Thank you 😅
Super mind blowing
I am impressed and enjoyed watching how you brought these tools back to life. I have subscribed, and look forward to more of your videos. Peace ✨
Beautiful craftsmanship!! Keep up the hard work.
Wow that was one of the most original restores I've seen nice to see somthing different
Muito bem restaurado
Parabens😊👍👏👏👏👏
Niiiice 👌 😍 💯
Excellent find and excellent restoration. I forged myself a stump anvil and a hammer a few years ago, but I like yours more.
Beautiful restoration good job well done
so much effort involved and the end result is amazing. super impressive!
In your video, I like that you do it outside, in nature. It's a completely different atmosphere than the restoration videos shot in the workshop / garage. I understand that these are terms ... but I appreciate the feeling.
Thank you mate, yes it is main part of my channel I like nature, and trying to bring that beauty to my viewers
Verry. Fine
I know I don't have the skill to build the things you do. For me what I want to try is taking a raw metal and making it shine. I am a Harley owner and anyone who knows a Harley owner knows that we love shining Chrome. I really want to take my game up another level and polish things a little bit better than I'm doing with my hands.
I enjoy your videos and I try to make sure I watch all of them. Look forward to seeing your next one.
nickel et magnifique !!!!
Wonderful work👌
This video makes me wish I could double subscribe
Отличная работа! Красота!
Felicitaciones usastes las herramientas de forma creativa, y creaste los materiales que necesitabas para completar toda la restauración, genial!¡
Good luck sir
that wass done beuatifull bro....simple , practical and origenal ...
Hey man! Thanks for not putting stupid electronic music in background we just hear the tools and the nature awesome video!
Ganhou mais escrito 🤞ficou top
Very nice job, I can only imagine how old that stuff is but I would definitely say it was probably rusting and corroding for over a 100 years from the looks of the anvil.
Excellent work!
Nice work, well done. however I point out 3 remarks:
1- would have liked to see how you leveled the stand horizontally
2- The rusty bolts could not have given those long straps
3- should have used a bigger container to begin with.
The end products looks good.
cool job as always..like👍
I like what you did with the base but I would’ve left the knot sticking out to hang the hammer it looked nice when you got it done
Witam Pozdrawiam👍👍👍
exellent work..great talent and skills.👍👍👏👏
Молодец.На славу по трудился.
I love watching your restorations. They never cease to amaze me. Of course they always look so good when you're done that they could never again be used for their intended purpose ;-)
Thank you, yes you right after that mirror finish it is not good idea to use them regular, but still you can see I'm using some of them in projects like regular tools but very carefully 🙂
