This video is an example of a microsystem from a social work standpoint. One of the basic types of microsystems is a family. The video shows how each family member's actions impacts the others.

She would shave her hair for Kates self esteem but slaps Ana for standing up for her right to put her own life first (regardless of why). I hate this movie not because of the beautiful story, but because at the end the parents got redemption. In the end neither parent REALLY cared about Ana or what she went through for the sake of keeping Kate alive. They designed a kid for parts, used her and when she fought back against this they treated her like she was being selfish. I LOATHE the parents in this film and find no redeeming qualities in them even after Kate gets her wish. Sara never really feels like she had that come to Jesus moment where it all clicked and she had remorse. It was about Kate from start to finish. Ana wouldn't even exist if they hadn't needed spare parts and that is SICK.
There's a term in psychology: Golden Child. Anna is the sacrificial lamb offered up to the Golden Child.

No the actual way this ended is really disheartening. Ana died after winning the case and Kate got what she needed anyways.
I literally just started crying when Kate started crying. If i was someone in Kate’s shoes, and I had someone treat me this way, I would be mad and upset about being forced like this. The actors did a great job throughout the film. I loved every bit of it!
When you love your child, sometimes you make them do things they don't want to do. You put them in uncomfortable situations for their long term health, not short term.

I didn't like it when Sara kept bugging Kate and asking her to get up like that when Kate was really sick.

When I heard her say people stare at her, I was thinking about parents shouldn't let their kids stare, or make fun of someone who is losing their hair.
I Would like to see the people in the comments actually go through something like this and then write a response.
As a med tech it bothers me that she decided to refuse her daughter medication that a doctor prescribed her to help her with depression. She had no right to take that away without discussing it with a doctor. If she didn't like how her daughter behaved zombie like then bring it up with her doctor. It could be too high of a dose or could be the wrong meds but to just completely deprive her of this when she needs it. It is wrong and more damaging to her.

why is the title microsystems?
It's a social work term. The video is an example of one microsystem - a family and how they interact with and impact each other. This was posted as part of a project for my Micro Social Work class.
You guys have obviously never been raised with Hispanic parents. Her mom is acting like this because she didnt want her to just sleep herself to death. This was motivation. Her mom spoke to her like that out of love.
Or black parents. Sometimes we as parents just KNOW what is best for our kids sometimes regardless of what a Dr says. Yes she had medication but clearly that wasn't the answer either. Her mom did the right thing. Get up let's get some air today. ❤
