The thing with the exit is that Caine did actually create it because he wants to appease the others, but notice he said he "didn't know what to put on the other side." He doesn't understand that they want to exit the program and return to the real world, he's just making an exit door that leads to a new place that isn't the Digital Circus, but because he's an AI that's intrinsic to the Circus it's difficult for him to imagine anything outside of what he knows. That's why it's an unfinished work that he didn't want anyone to see
And Pomni just ran through it and the Stanley Parable of office rooms behind it, abandoning her promise to Ragatha. She looked so happy making that promise, too, like doing a favor made her forget their scenario relative to Sword Art Online.
I remember someone suggesting that maybe Caine describes the lake activity as “drowning yourself” because some of the people trapped tried to exit the game so to speak but he thought it was just an activity humans sometimes do for fun.
Couple of theories. They are not mine, but I subscribe to them 1. Cain is meant to entertain Children for a couple of hours. Now he is trying to keep adults sane (seemingly) indefinitely. 2. Cain stated that the only thing he has no control over are minds. This is possibly why he can't "fix" the Abstracted, but he can fix glitched characters 3. The characters are only copies of personalities and not actually the humans they were. This is why there is no one in the headset at the end. The Copies believes that they used to be human.
To that last point, that could very well be an influence from the _SigCorp_ series if Gooseworx is a fan. Wouldn't be too far out of the box considering the heavy _Stanley Parable_ influences he's discussed already.
One of my theories is that Caine and the NPCs are legitimately incapable of harming the players. That's why Jax wasn't worried about Zooble but more importantly the cellar. The abstracted people are still technically people, thus Caine can't hurt them to stop them. So he just puts them where they can't hurt others.
Ragatha is a doormat, pushed around and thrown to the side like a ragdoll. Jax kinda has a likeness to bugs bunny. A snarky jerk that plays into the slapstick. Zooble is a mental mess. Just like the abstract shapes. Gangle has got some sorta thing, either bipolar or just wears emotional masks all the time Kinger is in his own little world most of the time. The king of his own mental headspace that he spaces out in a lot. Pomni probably was the laughingstock most of the time. The unwilling jester of the office space.
A theory I've seen that I rather like about Jax is, that he is actually trying to look out for everyone in his own way. As Ragatha said the adventures are to help keep them sane and he sends the two clearly more unstable members onto the adventure. When he knocks them down the hole he is doing it to protect them from Kaufmo. That he acts like an ass towards them, because anger at their situation can be a trigger for breaking so he gets them to focus their frustrations on him and his BS.
There’s also the surface level interpretation that also works. Sometimes, it’s easy to pass time when you’re being an ass. It’s a coping mechanism that is often considered unhealthy, but all he does are pranks and remarks, not straight up abuse.
A viable interpretation, personally I like to think that since that when he talks his lips move but his teeth don't, which means he is quite literally lying through his teeth.
One thing i kinda thought about, too, with Caines' design is that it reminded me of when you clip into a game characters face and their eyeballs and teeth remain. So, Caines' design could be a nod to him not being completely rendered? No face to mode off of for him?
This has got to be my favorite reaction video from TADC, and as a gamer and anime enthusiast myself, I had the exact same thoughts with the Sword Art Online and game development references. Also, this has got to be the first time I see someone react to TADC and get censored by Caine (I know it's editing, but still), and I find it to be the funniest [BLEEP] I have seen in a while when it comes to a reaction video on a popular show or movie.
Fun Fact Jax is voiced by Michael Kovach, the OG voice from the Hazbin Hotel pilot and Zooble is played by his girlfriend, Ashley Nichols. Ashley is the host of the RUclips channel, HuniCast...and is also known for getting HUGELY flustered whenever her name is spoken in a flirty manner
Nice having your streams/videos back, Dipper! Hope your trip in Japan was awesome. Also, fun trivia about the name choices for Pomni: XDDCC is apparently an inside joke for the Gooseworx crew, but putting it through a Ceasar cipher you can get it to spell "OUUTT." And Pomni apparently is a word that means "Remember" in Russian and Bulgarian. Whether or not these will have any bearing on the show is going to have to be seen.
caine is confirmed to be an AI, and he really does want to help them, but he lacks an understanding of how humans work. He has passive intentions but because he can't sympathise with them, he often misunderstands and does something that doesn't really help much at all 😭but you can see it with how, as ragatha explains, caine gives them little adventures to do in order to keep them from going insane. And during the end, caine apologises for lying about the exit, in which he talks about how he was trying to MAKE an exit for them, because he knew they wanted one, but doesnt have the ability to let them actually leave. Caine misunderstood what they meant, but at least he tried his best by attempting to make them an exit anyway idc what caine does im defending him hes literally so bbg 😍
Also letting them have their own rooms and... trying... to give Zooble the chance to not partake in the day's adventure (as well as not really enforcing whether or not they even do the adventure, judging by his absence). Wouldn't have done that if the goal was to torture or be malicious to them. If anything it enhances the existential horror of this situation. Caine, for all the power he has in the digital world, is just as trapped as they are, and can only do so much to slow their inevitable descent into Abstraction...
@@insulttothehumanrace3807 FRR like i nobody points out the zooble part, he knows what shes like and knew that forcing her wouldnt be nice, he has lots of consideration for how they feel and he does have some sort of care for them, even though he cant really sympathise all that well for when they lose another 'character' to abstraction
One detail you probably didn’t notice in the last scene is the blinds; They’re torn up and tattered. As far as I know blinds don’t wear down easily, so for some of the shutters to be torn at the ends and even in the middle, they had to be sitting there for decades. You could be right about the office space where the computer is being an abandoned building, but we’ll never know until Glitch drops the next episode.
27:37 Oh my god, no wonder why the Gloink Queen looked so familiar! She kept reminding me of Reboot for some reason! It makes so much sense that she coincidentally looks like the nulls from that show, now that I got my finger on that odd feeling of deja vu! ^^ (I say "coincidentally" because the TADC wiki page for the Gloink Queen doesn't mention any sort of reference from Reboot, and I don't think Gooseworx is aware of it lol.) Edit: 31:11 Lol I had that same thought too when I saw her XD
I have the theory that the perfomers represent different personality disorders. Anxiety(pomni), fear(kingler), selfishness(jax), anger(kaufmo), etc. What if the headset was a technology that was supposed to help cure ppl of their debilitating personality disorders. Strap it on and instantly feel relief from your crippling issue. BUT what if the tech takes those negative aspects of your mind away and dumps them into the circus? That's why they have no memory. Also, it would lend itself to making the existential horror even worse because even with a route back to the real world, they've nowhere to go. 😱🙂 Interesting things I've spotted. * Before the introduction song Caine mentioned "paraphernalia" that "we" would be seeing. That implies objects/items/things and yet what we end up watching is the trapped performers... * When Caines watch detected a player in the Void, he said "oh no, they'll be *spoiled*". That's a word used for perishable goods/food/products..... * When Jax said "she still thinks it's a dream", he was not talking to Ragatha. He was breaking the forth wall and talking to us.... * The adventures aren't dangerous, but Kaufmo's abstracted form was as Zoobles fate barely bothered them but Kaufmo's was seen as a real danger. Re- Jax's reaction to the adventure compared to Kaufmo. *Caine isnt all-seeing because he had no idea what was going on to his circus or players, even abstraction, until Pomni entered the void. Then he still didnt know himself, his wacky watch alarm had to alert him. *Caine barely knows anything about the real world.... " *Drown* in the digital Lake,..... *ridery* at the digital fair" hint at that. If that's so how did he know what offices in the real world looks like? Maybe through the cameras in the place where the headset and computer are sitting? That also explains why the exit maze has "A" computer office room but is not "THE" computer office room. I dont think they are the same because Caine's had no windows or natural light but the one we come out of at the end has natural light streaming across the wall. * Other than the final corridor connected to the void the Exit Maze was totally stable, until Pomni's extreme reaction to the computer and headset started causing the lights to flicker on and off.... why then? 🤔 Thoughts on "sad and weak" Gangle. With Gangle's masks. They both look fragile, and the comedy mask did break after a small drop.( in a little extra from Gooseworx, we see Gangle looking in a mirror with broken comedy masks all over the walls.) But when she was dragged into the Gloink hole her sad mask smashed into the ground, hard, but didn't even get a blemish on it. That implies that her "smile" is so very thin yes.... but that her core, and yes sad, self is a lot tougher than she looks. 🤔..😥💪...🤔 Ok that's some of the stuff ive picked up on. Could it be meaningful or could mean nothing 😅
@kingrickda25th98 Ragatha seems to have a need to please and consider everyone else, even to the point of ignoring her own situation. Like while glitching all over the place she asked for pomni's help, but "only if she didn't mind". Zomble meanwhile seems to have social issues. She separates herself from the group and doesn't want to interact with anyone if she can help it. We didn't see much of zomble but those things stood out.
I'm glad you finally got around to watching this! I'm also curious about how they all got sucked into the digital realm. Was it TRON style like you suggested? So many questions that need to be answered! Hopefully the next episode comes out soon. Better order a Pomni Plushie to help keep me company until then.
the creator said on Twitter that Caine is part of the program, he's supposed to help them, but he's a psychopath so he doesn't understand humans and lacks empathy despite doing his best, so he only makes things worst. he's an antagonist but not the villain.
Pretty sure the "for realsies this time" is moreso about the show actually releasing instead of delays? Caine is an AI, afaik, and not a Dev or Person. Gooseworx has shared some info on her socials too... Don't know it all but pretty sure this does disprove they're all employees at the same place etc etc Good catches throughout the vid though! Noticed some stuff I missed multiple times
I like how much you react but a protip for not repeating so much of the content you're reacting to: spacebar can be used to quickly pause and unpause the video and the left and right arrow keys can be used to jump back or ahead seconds in the video. Additionally to the arrow keys, you can use the fullstop and comma buttons to find a specific frame. Edit: Oh, I just saw you using the arrow keys in the middle of the video, haha. Nevermind about them then.
❤❤❤❤ Loved this pilot and your video. 😊 very nice pointing our Reboot ^^ loved that show. Your character is very cute too, love the pink and brown mixture^^
33:06 Might I recommend a channel called Game Hut? He was a programming manager at Traveler's Tales and has lots of game dev stories from his works on Crash Bandicoot and Lego Star Wars games!
I mean....it looks (intentionally) like a scrapped game or shovelware. Seems like the Cane AI was even done due to his many crashes, blue screens and overall glitchy behavior. It seems like the bare bones AI I would use to ensure my program RUNS with the AI. I don't think Cane is evil or even vindictive for making an "exit". He probably can't as the function wasn't even programmed in yet nor was the whole isekai thing intended. It seems like a VR bug that turned it into SAO and the game was scrapped once a buncha people got sucked in and the devs couldn't get them out. Hell, the circus folk might be the devs that got accidentally stuck in their own game. Kinger seems like the lead and everyone else seems like other team members. Hell, Pomni could be QA considering how "well" they're usually treated IRL. Edit: Cane seems to be like the "Director" AI from Left 4 Dead. Runs scenarios based on preset parameters and player reactions. Adaptable to a point within those preset parameters, but breaks down if no prior knowledge of a scenario happens. It's an AI that can react and adapt to players, but it seems like his programming was unfinished, so is just as lost as the "players" as this is unfamiliar territory, thus causing him to "crash" aka, not know what to do and try to adapt his programming to a situation he was never designed for even when completed. If my theory of the trapped in an unfinished game is correct, Cain CAN'T make an exit. It's a bug that trapped them here and he can't figure out how to fix it, given even his AI has limitations. He cannot seem to alter the source code, thus cannot fix the bug from the inside. Edit 2: The "exit" was probably his attempt to give the "players" a way to escape, but he couldn't as it's outside his programming. After being unable to make an exit, his AI probably went into maintenance mode to prevent abstraction, repeating the scenarios he was programmed for to keep the carnies from insanity. He's trying to keep the exit from people to prevent what happened to Pomni. Seeing the code. Seeing the computer screen. Seeing that they're trapped in a game with no escape. That no one is coming to rescue them. No one even knows they are stuck in there. That Pomni WAS that way out, but got sucked into the game like everyone else. That it was their imprisonment was their own fault. That their now "corpse" is right where they left it. On the desk, headset on, brain dead. Still alive but unable to scream. Unable to move. Slowly dying of dehydration and starvation. Watching it happen and unable to do anything. Watching yourself slowly die while being unable to do anything about it. There is no escape. There is no body to escape to. You can't leave because you're already dead. This is your afterlife. Your "soul" trapped here forever, doomed to abstract or spend eternity in this digital hellscape unable to die. You cannot kill what is already dead.
I think kinger was one of the developers, based on how much he knew about the process of not really needing to eat, and he was the first person trapped. The reason he hasnt abstructed is because he subconsciously remembers how to avoid it but he's too nutso to tell anyone.
Yeah VR headsets have existed for a really long time. The oldest I can think of is the Virtual Boy from 1995 even before the 3D game sphere had its Cambrian explosion with Mario 64 from 1996 being the catalyst to that explosion of 3D games. So a VR point and click adventure game for small children in the middle to late 90's is absolutely plausible. It would've been for insanely rich kids only but it's setting does make sense in our history.
My favorite character is Caine because he's very funny, and he's a super duper cool guy. And he's the same guy who did the voice of Spamton G. Spamton. Plus his voice is extremely accurate. 👍 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
People've said that Caine's supposedly not evil and yes, destroying the exit wouldn't make sense because he values his work, but why did the door even appear and disappear randomly if he didn't want anyone to see it?
probably because the game seems like it was buggy as all hell. Caine does seemingly want to help, but he isnt an administrator. just an AI built to help guide players who is in WAY over his head
37:30 - So Cane was able to create an exit, but could never decide what to put on the other end, as he cannot create a real exit for them to leave the game. So he added a looping imitation of the office where the PC setup (Entry point) is located. Pomni appears to still be in denial, clinging to the belief that she has found a way out.
Gotta say it's awesome to see someone else with relevant experience to build off of here! I've been a software engineer for the better part of a decade now, and it's really fun watching another analytical mind work through the mysteries here. Especially in a very different way than I did! A very fun watch all around, I loved the insights you provided and the questions you asked along the way. Looking forward to more, here and (if I can make it) on Twitch! EDIT: I never saw Reboot, but I can at least speculate on those slug things being called Nulls! In code, "null" is a special value. It effectively means there's nothing there. But it's more than just a String being empty, i.e., "", or a number being zero. It's effectively a state that should not happen except under very specific circumstances. So if the characters became a Null, then it's like some code-breaking error occurred; like, going crazy, or losing their humanity.
@@Dipperdog_RPGirl Possibly! Getting Abstracted could just be a different way of showing that someone went insane, but the core concept would still be the same. EDIT: I can't believe I didn't think of this before, but if you have the chance you should look up a thing known as a "null pointer exception." It's not really something programmers have to worry about anymore, thankfully, but back in the day (or if you're using certain older coding languages) these things were absolutely terrifying when they happened. As in, hitting one at my job would probably be justification for a 20-minute snuggle break with my dogs. All of my dogs. At the same time. Thankfully, I can only think of a couple things that have ever warranted that much panic. Even more thankfully, there's only one such technical issue currently an issue thanks to advances in technology. Less fortunately, I still encounter that one issue at my job once in a while. And my dogs always know when it's going on, and they preemptively start swarming my desk trying to calm me down again.
I'm surprised to hear anyone remember Reboot, there's a classic blast to the past! To answer your question about the nulls, they were the remains of characters that lost in a game, though the cartoon was more for people who know about how computers work. Considering abstractions make things glitch out on contact and seems to be a form of painful contagion, yeah that seems like a reasonable fear . . . If anything I'd describe this concept as if Tron was a horror story, and I'd expect nothing less from Gooseworx lol.
ok, idk if that's a current theory since I don't watch much theory videos lol but I have a feeling Jax before being there was really good at coding (maybe a game developer himself?) and that would explain how he has so much access and doesn't seem bothered by lots of things like, he having a key for everyone's room? that is just a way of saying he has access to their room even if the original code said he wasn't supposed to have it, so probably he somehow has a way of explore their codes and change some things here and there to get his way
I just realized something When ragatha was laying on the ground and was saying over here it reminded me of another character , A kind and extremely helpful Lady who leads you to your destination Only to be glitched out and Attacked by a large creature and after the encounter is slumped over saying over here, its giving me major marian from nikke vibes .
Jax is fun. Hes a total jerk but he actually does more to help all the others. He suggested the adventure for pomni, he offered to go with pomni to get kaufmo, he threw kinger and gangle into the hole so they wouldn't be attacked by kaufmo and then kept quiet when he saw a gloink glitching out. He cares more than he says
Caine is apparently an AI, from what I looked up, and doesn't actually understand humanity so he isn't really lying when he said he "didn't know what to put on the other side of the exit."
My theory is that kinger is a game dev that got sucked in to work out some bugs but got stuck. But he’s been here so long that he’s gone nuts, which is why he’s constantly bringing up insect collections.
The insect collection thing is definitely an allegory for the characters being trapped and kept for constant monitoring like ant tunnels in a glass display case.
Glad the digital dog enjoyed this pilot. Will say, I personally think the excessive sound effects actually works in this show's favor. It further drives in this idea of it being this wacky kid's game that these people are trapped in, while further enhancing the despair of their situation by being so in-your-face about how FUN!! this place is, showing that there's no break from the madness...
Also yeah it seems like your basically immortal in this world no need to eat survive cartoonish levels of violence including getting dismantled or pulling your own eye 2 feet out of your head but into the theory about obstructions searching for souls ect might be the only way to hurt/kill them is obstructing or being attacked by an obstruction and have it tear apart their code to take the mind/soul part for itself
So my theories on this show are 1)caine is an admin but also trapped has like full access to in game stuff editors and can basically control everything but the people because he cant control their minds hes even created this spa/restaurant area to keep himself sain and never leaves the actual game or his model 2) jax is one of the original beta testers hes overly jaded almost to an extent of blocking out what he doesn't want to see to protect himself from going insane he has "debugging" tools like access to every room and he also insinuates that kinger isnt the longest logged in member "they say" hes been here the longest and thats why hes insane not he has been here the longest 3) the soul or mind is tied to the digital body on almost a root level of the model obstraction is the soul/mind leaving the body cause they gave up on life and it physically corrupts the model the broken model then hunts other souls/minds in an attempt to make itself whole 4) cain keeps them in a hole either cause he cant mess with player data or because he hopes he can save them or he's using them for something 5) there are hints that pomni is more important almost like she might be the calvary coming to rescue them but she lost her memory like everyone else did or shes a new intern who stumbled on the old failed game locked uo in storage and got to nosey and thats why the rest of the cast has been here for years
You might be onto something with Jax seeming all sus: If I recall correctly, Gooseworx, the creator/director/overall showrunner of Digital Circus, compared the titular digital world of the circus to something like purgatory, and she either said that all the characters are there for a reason, or that they all somewhat deserve to be there or something? But when asked about who she thinks deserves to be there the most, she said Jax! So if my memory serves, Gooseworx basically said that Jax might be actually worse than just a snarky jerk, lovable as he may be! HOWEVER, I COULD BE WRONG, (again, I might be misremembering, and even if not, Gooseworx might be giving red herrings, or there could always be changes and stuff throughout the full series run! SO TAKE ALL OF THIS WITH THE GRAINIEST OF SALTS!)
Btw the chess piece with an X on it was the queen while we still have our king what that means and if they were like a couple and he had to watch his wife die and turn into a monster to be determined
also caine isnt evil cause gooseworks confirmed it but he thinks hes helping when hes not and he like a distrction in the way and e doesnt now humans are like so thats why he built the fake exit and jax was voiced by michale kovach and hes the voice of n from murder drones n from lack a daisy and other thigns and his gf ashley nicholas from the hunicast voiced zooble
My unsubstantiated theroy is that they know how long its been because old computer games used a "check time" function that actually did check the time through the computer system. This still works even using modern hardware because its still in use! (This is also how some modern games know what time it is on your computer for puzzles and the like)
Fun Fact: When kinger says "You Didn't experience a game show in there did you?" Theres a game but i don't remember the name, but when you die you Get Eaten, and you Have a Game show, whether you Stay Dead or re-alive. that's for a wheel to decide.
Huh, and nobody yet said what this episode tribute to? Not even at the second episode? It's "I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream". This show is a work of art; damn, today it's rare to see one. I checked a lot of vtubers reacted to this (after checked it up solo, ofc) and still enjoy it. Mostly, I only can see stuff once or twice, and then it becomes boring even with the reactions, so this case is unique. More than that, each time I watch, I see a new detail. Ragatha nose playing Ping-Pong. The rust got worse when Pomni sees it, compared to the ending scene. Zooble being afraid of a physical contact. Etc. IHNMaMS (..IH) has an adaptation by its author, a game. Many characters were altered in it, and their story was "expanded". I guess Zooble is Ellen, a girl who was [] and thus fears physical contact, while also traumatized and indifferent. AI made her a prostitute in the original, who [] with Benny all the time. Kinger seems like Nimdok. In the expanded version of IH, he is an ex-[] scientist, and nonetheless a genius one. In the original, he was reduced by the AM to an old man, who is insane and suffering from dementia. Kinger seems like a very intelligent person too when he is not suffering from dementia. I don't sure, is he one of the researchers behind the game in this universe or just that bright, and deeply analyzed it from the inside. Cane is obviously AM, but also this world gives a lot less suffering than AM gave to his victims. Jax is probably Ted, since in the expanded IH he was a con-artist. A thief, if to speak by the game lang. As most of the criminals, he only cares about himself, antisocial and smart. Ted main thing was marriage frauds, so he is also good with women (when he wants it), has a lot of charisma and can persuade. There is no Benny in the story, at least not in the first episode. It could be Kaufmo, ofc, especially his insanely aggressive final form. After all, In expanded IH he was a solder, who presumably also [] his subordinates. I guess Gangle is Gorrister, since Gorrister was depressed and []. But also he was not always like that. We only see Gangle in his sad form so far. Pomni is a wild card, a joker. She is no one, just a random victim, I guess. Ragatha also seem to be a non-tribute character. Both are GFLs, which is rare and extremely needed today. Also, that bobble is not only voiced by the author of TADC I hear, but I guess It's also kinda her self-insert. It really feels like one. I hope she will finish the work, since she seems to be from that insanely rare artistic type of creators, and not from the typical and default demonstrative one. Very easy to damage those, and they care about art opposed to the publicity and fame, so they can just... randomly quit, and hide/destroy their work. I've heard she was already very traumatized by the usage of her characters on the RUclips (content/kid farms). Let's hope it will not stop her, and she is mentally stable enough to also not fell into the hyper-expectations pit. This cartoon is for adults for sure, but kids also love it a lot. If someone read this far, sorry for my grammar. Never learned this language, so I don't sure about its writing rules.
Caine is confirmed to not be evil. He's just an AI trying his best to keep the humans in his realm from going insane but unfortunately doesn't have a good understanding of human psychology.
anybody read the story it's based on? (i have read it, like years ago) it's kind of the opposite with nsfw stuff and is about the last 5 humans on earth being tortured by an AI that nuked everyone else (I have no mouth and i must scream by harlan elison) i don't think it would be spoiler-y because the story and the digital circus are each their own creative thing
According to the creator, Jax is both the youngest (24 years old), and also intended to be "unlikeable" and "with no redeeming qualities". Basically the joke with him is that in terms of who he is, Jax is a jerk through and through. How do I know this? Well let's just say TV Tropes is good about citing its sources.
Great video! The only part this i found slightly irritating was the amount of times you paused the video, also i feel like you massively over thought what was going on but its understandable because this show is very confusing if you don't know what your getting into. overall it was a great reaction and i can't wait for the rest of the show to be released
She looked so happy making that promise, too, like doing a favor made her forget their scenario relative to Sword Art Online.
seems like a lot of assumptions for just a pilot
@@Fenronin a lot of that was confirmed
@@Fenroninyeah but that's part of the fun 😊
I remember someone suggesting that maybe Caine describes the lake activity as “drowning yourself” because some of the people trapped tried to exit the game so to speak but he thought it was just an activity humans sometimes do for fun.
Oof that's dark humor
It's probably just because 'drown' is another word for 'immerse'. It doesn't necessarily mean to suffocate yourself to death.
Ohhhh that makes sense!
Well this isn’t possible now that we know they can’t die from oxygen deprivation
@@readyrobloxplayer1983 yup, though it doesn’t rule out the possibility of someone trying that; it just wouldn’t work
Couple of theories. They are not mine, but I subscribe to them
1. Cain is meant to entertain Children for a couple of hours. Now he is trying to keep adults sane (seemingly) indefinitely.
2. Cain stated that the only thing he has no control over are minds. This is possibly why he can't "fix" the Abstracted, but he can fix glitched characters
Gangle has got some sorta thing, either bipolar or just wears emotional masks all the time
Kinger is in his own little world most of the time.
I guess Jax is pretty smart 😮
A viable interpretation, personally I like to think that since that when he talks his lips move but his teeth don't, which means he is quite literally lying through his teeth.
The creator of the show has stated that Caine isn't evil, just an AI trying to be helpful but doesn't understand human emotion.
The dial-up tone was the loudest thing in the world when you were trying to sneak onto the internet at night
One thing i kinda thought about, too, with Caines' design is that it reminded me of when you clip into a game characters face and their eyeballs and teeth remain. So, Caines' design could be a nod to him not being completely rendered? No face to mode off of for him?
Ohhhhhh that's a neat idea.
Thank you for enjoying that bit. It means a lot you mentioned it. ❤️ 😊
@@Dipperdog_RPGirl Anytime!
Fun Fact
Jax is voiced by Michael Kovach, the OG voice from the Hazbin Hotel pilot and Zooble is played by his girlfriend, Ashley Nichols.
Ashley is the host of the RUclips channel, HuniCast...and is also known for getting HUGELY flustered whenever her name is spoken in a flirty manner
Sick
@@Wade-bn4jr I HIGHLY recommend looking up any "oh, Ashley" videos from HuniCast
36:05 Fun fact, this scene with the office rooms was inspired by The Stanley Parable.
Caine misunderstood what they meant, but at least he tried his best by attempting to make them an exit
anyway idc what caine does im defending him hes literally so bbg 😍
You know they’re old when they click the actual pause button to pause the video
One detail you probably didn’t notice in the last scene is the blinds; They’re torn up and tattered. As far as I know blinds don’t wear down easily, so for some of the shutters to be torn at the ends and even in the middle, they had to be sitting there for decades. You could be right about the office space where the computer is being an abandoned building, but we’ll never know until Glitch drops the next episode.
The frisky Moon is actually voiced by the creator Gooseworx! (So is Bubble).
27:37 Oh my god, no wonder why the Gloink Queen looked so familiar! She kept reminding me of Reboot for some reason! It makes so much sense that she coincidentally looks like the nulls from that show, now that I got my finger on that odd feeling of deja vu! ^^ (I say "coincidentally" because the TADC wiki page for the Gloink Queen doesn't mention any sort of reference from Reboot, and I don't think Gooseworx is aware of it lol.)
Edit: 31:11 Lol I had that same thought too when I saw her XD
I'm sorry but all I could focus on is her tail wagging it's so adorable
I have the theory that the perfomers represent different personality disorders. Anxiety(pomni), fear(kingler), selfishness(jax), anger(kaufmo), etc. What if the headset was a technology that was supposed to help cure ppl of their debilitating personality disorders. Strap it on and instantly feel relief from your crippling issue. BUT what if the tech takes those negative aspects of your mind away and dumps them into the circus? That's why they have no memory. Also, it would lend itself to making the existential horror even worse because even with a route back to the real world, they've nowhere to go. 😱🙂
Interesting things I've spotted.
* Other than the final corridor connected to the void the Exit Maze was totally stable, until Pomni's extreme reaction to the computer and headset started causing the lights to flicker on and off.... why then? 🤔
Thoughts on "sad and weak" Gangle.
Ok that's some of the stuff ive picked up on. Could it be meaningful or could mean nothing 😅
what personality disorders do Ragatha and zooble have?
@kingrickda25th98 Ragatha seems to have a need to please and consider everyone else, even to the point of ignoring her own situation. Like while glitching all over the place she asked for pomni's help, but "only if she didn't mind".
Zomble meanwhile seems to have social issues. She separates herself from the group and doesn't want to interact with anyone if she can help it. We didn't see much of zomble but those things stood out.
theres also probably some situation with gangle and their masks. maybe some form of split personality or something similar@@templeofthegods
I'm glad you finally got around to watching this! I'm also curious about how they all got sucked into the digital realm. Was it TRON style like you suggested? So many questions that need to be answered! Hopefully the next episode comes out soon. Better order a Pomni Plushie to help keep me company until then.
Reboot was one of my first obsessions in television, though i admit ive forgotten most of the details, id bet.
As long as you remember the guitar battle, your good.
the creator said on Twitter that Caine is part of the program, he's supposed to help them, but he's a psychopath so he doesn't understand humans and lacks empathy despite doing his best, so he only makes things worst. he's an antagonist but not the villain.
I wouldn't call him a psychopath, but more obliviously evil.
Caine is an AI, not a psychopath.
Pretty sure the "for realsies this time" is moreso about the show actually releasing instead of delays?
Caine is an AI, afaik, and not a Dev or Person.
Gooseworx has shared some info on her socials too... Don't know it all but pretty sure this does disprove they're all employees at the same place etc etc
Good catches throughout the vid though! Noticed some stuff I missed multiple times
9:49 Your hairclips are the PlayStation buttons!!! That's so cool!!!
bro is like my teacher by clicking the pause instead of pressing k
I like how much you react but a protip for not repeating so much of the content you're reacting to: spacebar can be used to quickly pause and unpause the video and the left and right arrow keys can be used to jump back or ahead seconds in the video. Additionally to the arrow keys, you can use the fullstop and comma buttons to find a specific frame.
Edit: Oh, I just saw you using the arrow keys in the middle of the video, haha. Nevermind about them then.
You should definitely also check out Murder Drones. It's another series produced by Glitch and it's pretty great.
❤❤❤❤
Loved this pilot and your video.
C&A = Caine and Able.
Caine and (A)Bubble
**Abel
9:48 you may already know this but “drown yourself” is a way of saying to “immerse yourself.” Caine is using it as word play to make a pun.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
People've said that Caine's supposedly not evil and yes, destroying the exit wouldn't make sense because he values his work, but why did the door even appear and disappear randomly if he didn't want anyone to see it?
probably because the game seems like it was buggy as all hell. Caine does seemingly want to help, but he isnt an administrator. just an AI built to help guide players who is in WAY over his head
Reboot you say? A null is when someone loses a game in the show and becomes corrupted.
This new dog character is so cuute!
Omg...that means the abstract turned into nulls if I understand what you're saying about them.
The office scnes were actually created in image of The Stanley Parable, the game you were thinking of probably.
Cain is there to try and keep everyone safe and sane ish he's kinda in the same boat as them except being an ai he's more at home
Supposedly, The Amazing Digital Circus is set in the 90s.
16:25 ah yes, back when games had manuals instead of unskipable tutorials.
You should see the Film Theory episode about the Amazing Digital Circus.
ok, idk if that's a current theory since I don't watch much theory videos lol but I have a feeling Jax before being there was really good at coding (maybe a game developer himself?) and that would explain how he has so much access and doesn't seem bothered by lots of things
like, he having a key for everyone's room? that is just a way of saying he has access to their room even if the original code said he wasn't supposed to have it, so probably he somehow has a way of explore their codes and change some things here and there to get his way
You had to listen to the old connect tone every time you would connect to the internet
You are one of the few people who search the site ❤
From what I think jax is acting that way as a form of coping with what happeneds I believe nux Taku explained it better than I can
Caine built the exit because he knew that everyone wanted one, but he doesn't want them to go in there yet because its unfinished
Caine is apparently an AI, from what I looked up, and doesn't actually understand humanity so he isn't really lying when he said he "didn't know what to put on the other side of the exit."
The laugh around 5:05 is beginning to remind me of Tails the Fox.
You know.. I THink when pomni enters that Game, that's the games intro
Those wonky textures were how things were dont 15-20 years ago it was done that way on purpose
Also yeah it seems like your basically immortal in this world no need to eat survive cartoonish levels of violence including getting dismantled or pulling your own eye 2 feet out of your head but into the theory about obstructions searching for souls ect might be the only way to hurt/kill them is obstructing or being attacked by an obstruction and have it tear apart their code to take the mind/soul part for itself
the most ANNOYING SOUND is "YOU'VE GOT MAIL"
So many people are weirded out by Caine’s blue-screen and I’m just over here like “Man, that’s just ADHD”
So my theories on this show are 1)caine is an admin but also trapped has like full access to in game stuff editors and can basically control everything but the people because he cant control their minds hes even created this spa/restaurant area to keep himself sain and never leaves the actual game or his model 2) jax is one of the original beta testers hes overly jaded almost to an extent of blocking out what he doesn't want to see to protect himself from going insane he has "debugging" tools like access to every room and he also insinuates that kinger isnt the longest logged in member "they say" hes been here the longest and thats why hes insane not he has been here the longest 3) the soul or mind is tied to the digital body on almost a root level of the model obstraction is the soul/mind leaving the body cause they gave up on life and it physically corrupts the model the broken model then hunts other souls/minds in an attempt to make itself whole 4) cain keeps them in a hole either cause he cant mess with player data or because he hopes he can save them or he's using them for something 5) there are hints that pomni is more important almost like she might be the calvary coming to rescue them but she lost her memory like everyone else did or shes a new intern who stumbled on the old failed game locked uo in storage and got to nosey and thats why the rest of the cast has been here for years
You might be onto something with Jax seeming all sus:
If I recall correctly, Gooseworx, the creator/director/overall showrunner of Digital Circus, compared the titular digital world of the circus to something like purgatory, and she either said that all the characters are there for a reason, or that they all somewhat deserve to be there or something?
Press start to continue.
also caine isnt evil cause gooseworks confirmed it but he thinks hes helping when hes not and he like a distrction in the way and e doesnt now humans are like so thats why he built the fake exit and jax was voiced by michale kovach and hes the voice of n from murder drones n from lack a daisy and other thigns and his gf ashley nicholas from the hunicast voiced zooble
4:28 - I also thought of SAO when watching this the first time. I wonder if that’s where they got the idea for TADC?
My unsubstantiated theroy is that they know how long its been because old computer games used a "check time" function that actually did check the time through the computer system. This still works even using modern hardware because its still in use! (This is also how some modern games know what time it is on your computer for puzzles and the like)
Fun Fact: When kinger says "You Didn't experience a game show in there did you?" Theres a game but i don't remember the name, but when you die you Get Eaten, and you Have a Game show, whether you Stay Dead or re-alive. that's for a wheel to decide.
Aside from the jack black photo you noticed in the WackyWatch video, did you also notice the other 2 memes at around 45:30 and 45:37?
Ooh! The Abstracted do remind me a bit of Nulls!
2:33 yes
20:25 That's Queenie Kinger's Dead wife
Caine is confirmed to not be evil. He's just an AI trying his best to keep the humans in his realm from going insane but unfortunately doesn't have a good understanding of human psychology.
I wonder what’s next?
Anyway, Caine is not Evil, he just doesn’t know Humans so well.
50:10 me hearing you talk about the pains of UV mapping
a fellow puppy arf. YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
🎪😍
Fun Fact: Pomni means POMNIT in Russian, which Translates to Remember, But She DOESN't remember, and XDDCC means Get Get out In Ceasaric Code.
My ADHD is messing with me because i was distracted by the tail most of the video. 🤣
anybody read the story it's based on? (i have read it, like years ago) it's kind of the opposite with nsfw stuff and is about the last 5 humans on earth being tortured by an AI that nuked everyone else (I have no mouth and i must scream by harlan elison) i don't think it would be spoiler-y because the story and the digital circus are each their own creative thing
Cain is like the admin and also an AI.
He's basically Yui from SAO, but as an obnoxious Tumblr husbando instead of a cute loli.
Ok, now when you reached to this, react to their other show, "murder Drones". It is just as good as this, but not as popular untill this come out.
Kaufmo The Clown looks similar to Koko The Clown from Betty Boop
The VR-chat Isekai
I f-[BLEEP]-g love this video
ケインはこれからの物語の重要人物でしょうね。2話が楽しみ
You should also watch mirder drones
According to the creator, Jax is both the youngest (24 years old), and also intended to be "unlikeable" and "with no redeeming qualities". Basically the joke with him is that in terms of who he is, Jax is a jerk through and through.
How do I know this? Well let's just say TV Tropes is good about citing its sources.
I remember the slug from reboot isn’t it ezo and dots dad . . I think.
Yep!
looks like you too enjoy Mao Mao
Her theory is already better than matpat's
Type in the amagi luffy so you can know more about monkie d luffy
Jax is the impostor
I like how she got pretty much every theory to a t on the first watch lol
Nice avatar half the other ones try to hard
Great video! The only part this i found slightly irritating was the amount of times you paused the video, also i feel like you massively over thought what was going on but its understandable because this show is very confusing if you don't know what your getting into.
overall it was a great reaction and i can't wait for the rest of the show to be released
