The Leviathans are among the most horrifying parts of Subnautica, and they only become more numerous to encounter, and horrifying to behold as you go deeper. The Reaper Leviathan is apparently circling the crashed shuttle, and will take away your sub while driving, and will kill you when you make contact with it. Of course I've never actually played the game specifically because the Leviathans shown in trailers and what not horrified me.
My honest advice for anyone wanting to play subnautica but is afraid of the leviathans is to just make a save game that you can reload when you find one and then drive up to it in the seamoth (mini sub) and try to survive as long as you can. You'll find that they aren't the death incarnate that they appear to be at first and if you face your fear you can learn a bit of how they move and how to avoid them until they lose interest in you. It is scary when you first find them or when they get the jump on you though.
@@jacktr5807 What most people are afraid of aren't "just" the leviathans or the damage they can do or how they lead to your death etc. None of that even really matters, it's a minor inconvenience to get your stuff back, you can just reload anyways. The real issue is that they represent "the thing" that you see in your mind's eye when you actually see NOTHING in the open ocean. They're the monster that lurks just beyond what you can perceive in this vast open sea of nothingness. The reason Subnautica is seen as a horror game by many and got so infamous, is that it lead to a widespread realization among gamers that a lot of people have thalassophobia. And like any other phobia, you cannot rationalize your way outta there - you are simply scared, with no recourse. Lastly I'd even say the game gets less scary the longer you go on, because you go from vast open ocean with reapers (the scary spider face leviathans), to brightly lit caves with a big doofy dragon guy who shoots bowser style fireballs at your nearly indestructible mech. The biggest scares are reapers near the start, reapers in early midgame and ghosts whenever you decide to explore too far. Once you're done with those areas, it's pretty ok, even if the open ocean traversal still hurts.
When the sun goes down and underwater turns into complete blackness..... Hanging around in the shallows is relaxing. Practically everywhere else, isn't.
The "Heals 50 times, boss heals ones" one, a very valid argument is, the boss has 5 times your health most of the time, and hits 10 times harder than your scrub ass ever will, so them healing is not Because they healed, it's because an already hard/annoying fight just got extended, and your odds of dying just multiplied.

1:30 100%ing Skyrim was the most fun for me. A good player can do every main quest line early-ish. The game encourages you to level as high as possible. My brother, though, did every little thing you could possibly do in vanilla. Way beyond the achievements. We were all cracked when we were kids 23:20 Subnautica is my favorite game that's scary but isn't horror-focused. The scary parts are just one side to enjoy. The fear wears off as you get more familiar but man, seeing or hearing the leviathans while being hundreds of meters underwater is still awesome
Games that happen over and/or underwater or have big spaces of water make me feel unease, most likely because of fear of the unknown. The discomfort of not knowing what will come out of the water makes me paranoid. The first time I came across a sea snake in valheim with my friends really freaked me out, because I even foreshadowed it moments before with "oh great! Now what? A Kraken or Leviathan or some shit?"

6:19 It's crazy, cause in my early 20s, i'd go like 3 days with little to no sleep, make it through that 3rd day of work, and absolutely crash when I got home. Now I'm in my mid 30s and I've slept 8 hours total in 6 days. Why can't a crash anymore? I'm on meds, why can't I sleep? I'm starting to think I'm the next step in human evolution. 8 hours of sleep to be at peak mental capabilities? HA! As well as I function on 2 hours or less for 7 days straight. if I got 8hrs, I'd probably be full blown telepathic. Or my brain would be like a super computer or something....If I knew that was true...I'd probably still not manage 8 hours.

I “100%” Watch Dogs 2. I put it in quotes because there’s a trophy that you can get from the showdown mode for getting a max streak bonus and that’s the only trophy I don’t have. Otherwise I have everything in the game and got all the other trophies, DLC trophies included.

clash of clans uses crazy wait times to pressure you to pay money to speed it up. I feel the same thing when I would finally get all the blueprints for the warframe I want but I have to wait 12 hours for each component and 72 hours to make the actual warframe.
I used to be a 100% playthru player back in the day. Till I finally met my match. It was my dream game for how into leveling I was. It was simply too good to be true. Max level wasn't 99. it wasn't even 999. It was 9999. Disgaea 2. After close to 1000 hours into the game, I finally reached my burning point of enough was enough and quit playing the game. And in the same act, cured me of my need to 100% every game I played. Last game I 100% was Dragon Quest 8 on PS2. Still have my PS2 and all my games so who knows, I might crack it open someday to relive old memories and also, THAT spot.
I thought Disgaea games had easier ways to level up and gain stats after you've gotten into postgame? cause if it really was going to take thousands of hours to hit lv9999 in disgaea 2, then imagine disgaea 6 with it's 9,999,999 level cap

7:18 I put 10 hours into two worlds 2 HD 11 years ago, the next day the save was gone, probably corrupted or something, I never touched it again, 10,5 hours according to steam.
Also F4 survival mode not allowing quicksaves/quickloads and me getting stuck between a car and a wall, causing me to lose 50 minutes of progress had me mod in quicksave instantly, fuck losing progress.
22:18 I couldn't really think of a game but yeah, BF3 was actually a good example of exactly this. Couldn't even get myself to finish act 1. Maybe if I never played divinity 2 I'd enjoy it.
clash of clans (and other building games like that) usually have obscene build times so they can incentivize you spending premium currency to speed things up
6:19 It's crazy, cause in my early 20s, i'd go like 3 days with little to no sleep, make it through that 3rd day of work, and absolutely crash when I got home. Or my brain would be like a super computer or something....If I knew that was true...I'd probably still not manage 8 hours.
the only games i've 100% are Hollow Knight (all-time fav btw) and Stick Fight the Game (bc why not ig)
"When the rest of you have to carry the highest ranked player"
Back when me and my brother was playing Vermintide 1 together, we, at level 50 or something, were grouped up with someone over level 300...And he was so unbelievably USELESS...The two of us, Less than half his level Combined out performed him by a country mile...Just how is that even possible?
I “100%” Watch Dogs 2. I put it in quotes because there’s a trophy that you can get from the showdown mode for getting a max streak bonus and that’s the only trophy I don’t have. Otherwise I have everything in the game and got all the other trophies, DLC trophies included.
4:30 We were too poor if we broke a controller we were SOL. Hitting each other was safer...
Watching this at 4 :30 am after just getting off Apex before going to sleep, I feel called out.
I've never broken something out of anger. The angriest I got I threw my hat on the ground and cursed like never before or since. That was the Dark Souls 2 PvP arena. I never PvPed in the arena again and completely from the game not long after.
10:45 I used pump action shotgun style umbrella but mine was a lightsaber
I don't sacrifice sleep to play with friends anymore, they're likely too busy catching up on sleep they lost raising babies and toddlers when they're off work
"Hit sub if KH player"
I'm already subbed but KH fanboy here!
Yay the hoodie is back
One of the rules with gamers never tell them what to do or else you’ll regret it
I remember when I got in a death loop in fallout 4 I got a death loop of a asultiron death Lazer loop in the institute.
clash of clans uses crazy wait times to pressure you to pay money to speed it up. I feel the same thing when I would finally get all the blueprints for the warframe I want but I have to wait 12 hours for each component and 72 hours to make the actual warframe.
4:30 only 4 controllers? Dang can your brother teach me how to be patient like him?
I used both the assault rifle
And the shot gun I forgot to finish the sentence
9:00 returned the engagement ring and bought a PC.
…I’m at 1:13, and this happened to me last night playing Once Human. Then I played for another hour.
You got me at KH.
I recall taking it out of my PS2, putting it back in it's case, then it the art box the case came with and never opened it since.
@@DarkFrozenDepths That's the thing with kid me being obsessed with leveling. I barely progressed in the story. When I unlocked item worlds, I was leveling those while leveling myself and making new characters all the time and making a long chain to transmit skills and so on. Then while leveling item worlds, I get other items, which makes the leveling of this one useless and so on. I was stuck in a never ending loop and had completely forgotten about playing the story cause I just wanted to level. If kid me knew about how easier it was to level if you did story, I might still be playing the game lmao.
@@Kazeshini11 yeah, that's definitely going to ruin your mood that way.
it's like those idle games that want you to reset your progress for a bonus... the proper method is to get as far as you can or you're just multiplying the time you spend by exponential amounts.
you probably wouldn't have spent even 100 hours to be ready to face the hardest versions of Baal in the disgaea games when done right
20:08 And I 100% believe it, because he's a 12-yo *_of course he would!_* Nice Tanking lil' man👌
Man, I recently 100% One Piece Pirate Warriors 4, and now I'm 100% OP World Seeker. And then the other One Piece games. Then Baldur's Gate 3, but that's in the backlog.
just her asking if Subnautica is scary shows that she didn't play enough to get to the reaper leviathan.
I love your laugh it is very nice to listen to for some reason
I haven't broken any controllers by throwing *them* on the floor, but I have broken controllers because I throw myself on the floor (VR Games)
Funny seeing the 100%-ing a game one as I'm working on 100%-ing Stellar Blade right now
EDIT: I've 100% too many games to recall but I know I have 100% many FromSoftware's games including: Demon's Souls (PS3 + PS5), Dark Souls (Ps3), Dark Souls 2 (PS3), Dark Souls: SotFS (PS4), Bloodborne (PS4), Dark Souls 3 (PS4), Sekiro (Ps4), Elden Ring (PS4, PS5, + Steam), and Armoured Core 6 (PS5).
NOTE: When I say 100%, I don't just mean getting all of the trophies. I mean all of the items, gear, collectables, EVERYTHING and, yes, I did that thrice for Elden Ring.
I absolutely 100% games if I enjoy them. Even got all the Thieves Den awards in p5r.
Never broke a controller. When I raged as a kid, I'd usually beat up a pillow. Did break a CD case once though.
I had to stop playing Kingdom Hearts for a little while because I had a PS2 CD that had a scratch right before going into Pooh's world. Had to get another copy just to continue playing.
5:53 That doesn't just have to be a high level area...
Final Fantasy 12's dinosaur.... if you know, you know
Very cute Moogle outfit :)
Oh hey Thomas 😊 * follows*
If i thrown my controller i wouldn't be able to afford a new one
These are so true 😂😂😂
you will never understand the pain of the reaper leviathan in subnautica, after the first 20 minutes of game play it is a horror game.

Whoever did the mobile games meme hasn’t turned their phone on for ten years.
1:34 I 100% BotW, the Korok’s took me forever even with a guide.
7:17 I once got a message says my save data couldn’t be accessed and it asked if I wanted to make a new profile. Said no and luckily my save was there and working anyways. There were 200 hours on that save. I would’ve never played again
INTJ- playing final fantasy 10 with my best friend, over leveled got to the final boss, ok I get to attack the boss first with my character, final boss attacks first and hits my friend's character, his character auto counter attacks, kills boss. you stole my kill!!!!!!!
I 100% Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale and Resident Evil 5. From what actually remember
YUO HAD ME AT KINGDOM HEARTS

100%ed snowrunner with all DLCs in harmode, took like 1500 hours, lol
23:20 I have thalassaphobia, the fear of deep and open water, so I can’t even watch Subnautica playthroughs let along play the actual game.
