Hi Travis, I’m a huge weather watcher and I don’t have any formal education on the subject. However, after finding your channel I love your honest non-hype approach. Here in central MN we have no snow on the ground, 🙁 but the lakes are freezing nicely for ice fishing!
Love the channel Travis! Like your "lets not get ahead of ourselves" no nonsense attitude. Your accuracy is spot on. Look forward to your videos every day!
I’m noticing a lot of people who watch you are direct weather haters; I think you guys BOTH are great and one thing I do appreciate about you is having the absence of clickbait thumbnails. I always countdown the seconds until both of you guys upload another video and am so glad to have these great sources of knowing what weather patterns we can expect!!
Extended pondering for you Travis...driven by the comment in today's post about those expressing exasperation about NOT getting snow. Read at your own risk (of consuming too much of your time) I recall a question/prompt you gave earlier this year at which you expressed concern about some expressing potential frustration and maybe even anger about their NOT receiving heavy weather. It might have been spring severe season. Regardless, extreme weather does seem to provide a fascination for us, especially in its development phase. After all, it is that fascination that drives an interest to learn and understand weather. However, that fascination can lead to the witness of any resulting destruction and tragedy that it might bring. I see a parallel in watching a slow-motion train wreck. It's a challenge to NOT watch. But, sometimes I wonder how much we might be wanting?needing? to see bigger and bigger (proverbial) train wrecks? Are we needing to feed our titilation monsters? I continue to appreciate, and now count on, your clear-headed analysis. Thank you for not crying wolf, until you're confident it's likely to be a wolf. It's just such analysis that helps encourage effective preparation and therefore perhaps saving lives. Clickbait-ism might be proving to be an undue consumer of our nation's emotional resources. After all, it can sure have its addictive draw. You show to be staying the course of your steady-voiced, level-headed analysis. I hope our ears that crave stimulation are still able to hear reason and accuracy. This thought, while not quick in popularity, I believe is still able to resound amid the cacophony of ear candy. Your channel bears witness with its steady growth. If you made it this far, thanks for reading. It comes from one with a fascination of weather, a novice understanding of the same, but a somewhat more experienced encounter with human behavior. Thanks.
Thanks Travis, you are my go to meteorologist and I’ve been sharing your channel with lots of friends. Being a Commercial Airline Captain for 28 years and a Navy pilot before that, I appreciate a good weather forecast that shares its limitations for long range. You do that !!
I'm sorry I never got a degree in Weather forecasting. I've always been fascinated by it. People seem to like to hit the panic button 1 or 2 weeks out from a supposed weather event. They waste their energy
News flash, some of us want nothing to do with a snow event, example me, I drive a semi tanker loaded with hazmat over the mountains of north Carolina every day and these storms put my life in jeopardy everytime. The trolls will say just stay home, but that's easier said than done. The trolls don't know how the trucking industry works.
I read the Forecast Discussion released by the NWS to get their confidence in the forecast. Snow forecasts at the edges is highly dependent on the exact development/track.
Very glad I found your channel and enjoy your content. A couple questions though. What is the GFS accuracy rate? Is the Euro the most accurate? Only been watching the channel a couple months and seems you always show the GFS but never believe it.
SE Michigan here. I love ice fishing it's my favorite past time in the winter. Ever since the 1980's I count down the days until the lakes freeze. Back then the lakes would freeze by mid December. If the lakes don't freeze by the end of December it will be the 4th year in a row. Never had two years in a row in the 80's or 90's.
As a Midwest snowmobiler this year sucks, last year I already had over 100 miles on and this year I did 5/8 mile lap around my house before it started to overheat. Praying for January to bring snow
I am in the Southern Tier of NY and it was 10 degrees this morning, next Saturday will just be a repeat. What I have not seen is more than a dusting of snow so far this season.
@@beliedat2457 in the higher elevations of some locations I've heard that. However, most people don't live on mountain tops. In normal winters snow falls top to bottom, with the higher elevation getting more as expected. 40 to trace is quite unusual, I can travel from Bath eastward along I86 (or 17, whatever it's called these days) to Binghamton and beyond and find no snow.
Cold weather fan, so I love anything below 35 degrees. Snow is a huge bonus. I drive with the window down in the winter. We had a dusting, here in Indy, and it’s just been cold since.. gonna warm up. But I’m hoping for snow, on, and around Christmas… I’m not holding my breath; I’m making someone else do that. Edit: traveling to Valparaiso(valpo),Indiana(northwest Indiana)to be with the in laws.. waiting on the models, to show certainty before, we leave.
I never wish for big snow just enough to plow/blow and people that want to ride snowmobiles. As far ice on rivers and lakes I don't ice fish but I think most ice in several years I have seen especially in December. A video of some person driving on the ice last weekend went viral because wasn't thick enough yet
I can’t stand all these RUclips “meteorologists” absolutely spraying out click bait and fake extremely unlikely scenarios. For example I’m gonna say names, “Direct weather” is the worst case of that. I can’t stand that dude
My issue with him is that legit he doesn’t realize that he uses a lot of clickbait. Additionally, he makes the picture for the video based on anow totals 2 weeks ahead, and we all know how inaccurate it can be after 5 days lol
The only thing I like about direct Weather is he knows what he’s talking about on the mottos but he just thinks that everything’s going to happen and he makes it so big when the snowstorm he’s talking about are just clipper systems and they’re not even big
Here south of Minneapolis, lake ice is looking good for now, we will see after this warmup. Not any snow to speak of, couple dustings so no snowmobiles yet. Rather disappointed thus far
Seriosly....I make hay, and need THREE days rainfree....four is better. Over the past several years, I get....."Next 14 days rain-free", so we go cut. The NEXT day, they say, "40% chance of rain tonight". Or they say, "60% chance of rain for the next 7 days", and we do NOT get one drop. I NEED a semi-reliable forecast!! Any recommendations?
Things can get interesting in the East the first or second week of January. MJO is probably heading to phase 7-8-1 which is favorable for potential bigger storms. Until then, the models are just fantasy cause it can’t figure out the volatility.
Doesn’t look like north east Indiana will get much of anything maybe 2-3 inches if that this next week disappointing start to the winter hopefully by the end of the year Fort Wayne area will pick up 4-5 inches of snow doesn’t look like it though
I usually wait until I hear an ok from Ryan hall he’s usually smack dead on he said he didn’t believe the models either. But hey it is “global warming “
The Gods told me that the Mid-Atlantic areas get a Blizzard the same year the Washington Commanders do well. 2024 - 2025 was the Blizzard of all time. I guess they love good football, too.
The no click bait channel.
@@buckrockerm and the no hype channel as well!
NEK Vermont here.

Keep it real and no clickbait.
Thanks.

Love your logical, levelheaded coverage! You are now my only source for weather 🎉
You're the best, Travis. I trust your knowledge and experience and prefer your "no click-bait" channel.👊

We need better weather models instead of European and GFS…
Some RUclips weather boys love snow so much esp. For Christmas that any model hints snow is the prediction

I’m about to drive home to upstate NY from Florida so, I’m not looking forward to the snow and ice.
but, I do want a snowstorm to go up the east coast!!!
I want to win the lottery, but that's not going to happen either. lol
We dream of snow here in upstate SC but we are realistic that it is unlikely. Still, a person can dream.

Appreciate the update Travis. Its kind of wild San Franscisco had a tornado warning this morning!
We haven’t had a good snow storm since 2015 here In western Ma. Very disappointing
We haven’t in all of Massachusetts!!

See that circle in MD with hardly any snow? That’s where I live. Everyone around us gets more. It didn’t use to be that bad.

Only rumor I will spread is the coast to coast blow torch the last week of Dec. Models always lose the cold eventually.
Hopefully a very warm Jan-- March as well.
Tired of hearing about the northeast. It's always snow all winter in the northeast
