Our usual Central NC/VA late December is cold leading up to Christmas followed by warm up an rain until a cold front just after New Year. Then we get warm until the last 1/3 or 1/4 of January.

I doubt we'll ever get snow in Coastal Virginia. We used to get snow . Maybe we get six cold days during the whole winter.

Cold air just doesn't have any staying power at all but the warm air really does. Great news there.

IF it gets cold by New Years in the East, it will be dry and only last 2 days. Then it warms back up. Only accumulating snow northern New England/Lake effect area's. Same as it has been. Will be 6 or 7 days normal to above temp's. Then 2 days below then repeat.

The above average temperatures are already here. Just looked at the weather channel 10 day forecast. I live in the southeast and it looks like typical weather for this time of year. Meaning no snow. And it looks to be pretty typical in other parts of the country. Snow in the northeast and upper Midwest isn’t exactly unusual for late December and early January. But I guess embellishing thumbnails are necessary to maximize clicks. We all have to make a living somehow.

Thank you for all the weather video's! What would you say the most accurate radar to watch gfs, nam, hrrr, euro. I plow snow in Michigan and I watch the radars all the time to try and get a idea of snow fall.

Don't start getting political. I noticed your little esoteric snippet at the beginning of the video about North America warming-up. If you start getting political and preaching to us about global warming - I'm out. Save your politics for a political channel; just give the weather without editorializing about global warming.

I'm just an armchair meteorologist. Just based on what we have seen so far and recent in Winter's. I think any real cold is going to be brief, two maybe three days and mostly dry. Then it's back to above normal and wet.

Well, the long-term outlook was always pointing toward above average temps and below average precip for the east for January and February, which has pretty much become the norm, at least anecdotally, so no one should be surprised if that's what pans out.

For the last four years the eastern part of the nation has not a fall or a snowy winter.

RIght now the forecast for my area for Sunday is in the single digits Monday night into Sunday with a high in the teens. A little warmer (30's) wet shot from the gulf would give us snow that we haven't really seen much of yet. I'm starting to think that the reason we had such big snows when I was a kid was because it was WARMER then. The cooling trend we've been in has resulted in less snow. Funny how that works.

When Illinois going get some especially in central Illinois, I mean big snows like snow storms we haven't had a big snow storm in a very long time .

I really like this weather analysis Travis. I also watch another channel focused on Ag weather. He typically has a longer video with different maps/animations. Nevertheless, he also is thinking that January will be turning colder for the same reasons you cite. Anyway, like you say, "it is something to watch over the coming days". Thanks again for putting this channel up. I think the growth you have seen over the last few weeks is good positive feedback for sure.

So uhhh comments on the weather, I think we are cold for maybe the first half of January before we torch the rest of winter 😅

I’d believe it. Global warming has ruined New England weather. Haven’t seen snow since 2015 that is constant for winter. Get a mist snow squall than melts within 24 hrs. Winter has been just sleet rain and freezing rain. No more plowable snows
