- Renovated my daughters closet. Repurposed the original dresser my wife grew up with. Lots of work went into this including custom built cubbies to fit those mini storage cubes.

This was a spectacular project!!! As a daughter myself, I can tell you that a daddy is SO important to a girl... you have shown her through your deeds that she is very important to you, and therefore a valuable human being. With that foundation of love, she will grow with a confidence that won't allow her to be taken advantage of or made to feel inferior. She's going to know her dad is there for her... always. 😁 Great job!!!

This is beautiful!! I could see this working for an adult closet with maybe bigger square spaces (adult clothes are bigger). I also did not know that furniture drawers could be cut down. Learned a lot of tips too but we don't even have a space for woodworking. I envy your work area too.

My relationship with my Dad is kinda rocky but I found this RUclips rabbit hole of Dads that are still hobbling but making their projects about or for their children. I’m not sure if it’s the care that goes into the projects or the reactions afterwards… but idk it’s very healing. Thanks for posting. 🫶🏼✨

Love the look, but it will only last for a few years before it will be too immature. I would prefer a remodel that could be easily changed as the daughter matures.

Doors are a pain. When the inside of the closet is a work of art, who needs doors. Incentive to keep it tidy and keep it from being a junk collector.
@@Anagrams458 Without doors the clothes get dusty easily. A closet without doors is not a closet, it’s a shelving unit.

As a designer I hate these closets. They are are a horrible waste of space. Your daughter has a good Dad to fix that for her.

buy those LED motion lights they are very popular now and it won't cost much, that changed my wardrobe completely as now I can see the clothes very well. They are battery operated or rechargable.

All that work on the dresser confuses me. Why not just paint it and paper drawer fronts. Why all the cuting etc
It's MDF. There was some damage to the bottom. I wanted to shorten it some.

Great job, however bright pink is just a bit too much against the salmon pink 😮
So happy those sliding doors went, I had a closet with those once and it made it so hard to get to the clothes inside
We always had bi-fold louvered doors for ventilation. I painted them the trim color (white) with Navajo white walls. However the closet was a medium purple and I left it that way, even when we moved (surprise 🎉). Dad painted that for me in ‘74. 😁

I enjoyed watching the build. I'm now waiting for a follow-up video to see what kind of stable steps will be designed to enable his daughter to reach the upper areas of this closet that will be out of her reach for a few years.
No plans for that currently. We just store stuff in there and grab it for her if needed.

I don't understand tearing apart the perfectly useful dresser and putting it back together again.
It was necessary to remove a few inches of deep and to cut the sides to fit the new shelves.
I think it is an amazing work of upcycling. It went from useful to practical and aesthetically pleasing

The complete massacre of his daughters dresser was extremely painful to watch it was the most extra and unnecessary thing I’ve EVER seen lol dang now I’m getting ptsd of my dad cutting up my favorite yellow plastic baseball bat and using it to make scout neckerchiefs 😢
I agree the dressers was unique and beautiful, now ugly...people who do dramatic changes forget house may be up for sale one day...change the decor but not the structure.
All I did was cut it down to shorten is some. Also it's MDF and the bottom portion had some damage that needed cutting off. This closet is actually easily disassembled if we ever chose to move the dresser would come with because it's my wife's childhood dresser 😌
@Sawdustsailor thanks for explaining it was MDF. I had the same reaction to cutting into it. From the video it looks like solid wood.

I like the overall design and I appreciate someone that has great woodworking skills, but could the design have included the original dresser (it appeared to be in good condition) and just put on the floor (maybe reinforced with L brackets to the wall) and added bookcases on the floor, etc? Was the point of raising them off of the floor to add shoe racks later?
