You are very eloquent. Please don't assume that I mean this in a patronizing/backhanded way. I say it because I have BPD and you've explained things so precisely. You seem like such a kind person. I hope you're doing well. 🥰

I am so late to this channel.I am glad to see a young black man speaking about his mental health disorder. My son is 17 a young black male also and we are on a journey to understand schizotypal personality disorder. It is a hard journey though. The way you describe bpd is exactly how my son acts the disassociation the not feeling
Attached to anything or anyone makes me feel lile my son may need another opinion thank you for being so verbal.

@@bpddude I see in your other videos that you are capable of holding down a job. Just curious if you also take medication? I think about my sons future allot and wonder if medication is going to be a part of his life.I know every ones journey is different but on these videos I see people talking about thier mental health and what it is and how it affects them but not too many people say if medication has helped or harmed them in any way. Please do not be offended by me asking.

@@patriciatoney240 I am on medication and have been for the past year and a half. With that said there have been some negative effects but also some really positive effects. It's all about working with a team made up of primary care, psychiatrists, therapists, and most importantly family. It's also about being as communicative as possible.

@@bpddude yes communication is key. But this illness is a rather new and difficult thing for my family. When a person is different people and family do not know how to act or respond to difference. My son does not interact with any one except mom (me) and dad so it is hard to challenge him to get back to the way he was. He did speak and interact with family members and cousins his age. Now the eye contact is barely there and he does not even care to look in any direction of someone his age. I constantly think of where and why and how to begin to get help.immediate help in this state only comes of the person wants to harm himself or others. I will try to involve his primary care doctor as well thank you.

@@patriciatoney240 everyone is different. I definitely recommend finding a team to help you through this. No one should have to endure mental illness alone.
