I think Cpt Morehead was involved. They probably caught up to the MC and since they knew each other boarded and drank and some of the men behaved badly towards the Mrs. I think the MC crew were tossed off and the salvage plan was hatched as a cover.
Hi. Thanks for a well-balanced account of the Mary Celeste. So glad you didn't confuse things with some of the wild theories, and invented tales that surround this ship. Keep up the good work, and looking forward to future episodes.
Thank you ! Very interesting theory. An account I previously read was totally different. However yours makes a lot more sense. Looking forward to next week's case !
There is a great book about the Mary Celeste, published in about the early-1980s that essentially reaches this same conclusion. Alas, I do not recall the bibliographic details, but it included much testimony from the inquiry and other contemporary sources.
Watching on November 7, 2020. Anniversaries and such, kinda freak me out! Ok back to video. I love this mystery. Edit: I think your theory holds water. Great video, really enjoying making my way thru your uploads.

I'm not too sure. Since they only planned for the evacuation to be temporary. He might have not seen the need. Beside, if he felt his family was in danger every second would have counted.
Very interesting video. It seems like someone took them somewhere or they left on their own because some things were missing. Wherever they went it seems like they didn't survive. Very sad story. Thank you 💜
I believe the men who found the ship had something to do with the disappearance of the small crew. They boarded the ship drank and got drunk and behaved badly that's how the two barrel of alcohol had gotten empty. Anyway well done! It is a very interesting story. We will never really know what happened.
Loved everything about this post, narration, facts, research, voice and absolutely loved the theories! Congrats and give my best to The Crime Reel for his support of you that is lovely!! I am recommending Lost Case myself give him a listen if you’re not familiar!😊🤗
Thank you for this story! I really enjoyed it. Although it was scary,...couldn't listen to this story after dark LOL. So I'm watching it in daylight:) thanks for the awesome content and narration on your channel.
I think there was a situation with the alcohol fumes and they got in the dinghy secured to the Mary Celeste with a rope, when the rope broke and left them adrift.
Thanks Stewart, we have a few in the works. We decided to go with a few of the more popular mysteries to start, but we will branch off into the more obscure.
I think the second ship could never run into the Marie Celeste when the dates of departure were so far away from each other. So something must have happened before they found her.
yes, it is unlikely the Dei Gratia had made caught up, under normal circumstances. This and the last entry in the log book would suggest the ship had be left floating unmanned for over a week.
@@UNSOLVABLE Likely what happened is there was a break in the weather, and they opened the holds to vent them, but some of the barrels were damaged during loading and had been leaking. Briggs gave the order to abandon ship thinking the ship was about to explode, but wanted the lifeboat secured by a tow line so they could reboard once the holds vented but in the panic to abandon ship the crew improperly securred the tow line and it snapped when a gust of wind came up casting them adrift where they met their ends in a storm or starvation, dehydration, and exposure
You forgot to add that when the boat was found all sails were down save one. The crew forgot one small skirt sail while exciting the ship and that one sail would have allowed the ships speed alone enough power to snap the rope.
While the truth may never be known, I believe that what you have offered as a conclusion is the most plausable as to what actualy happened. It makes good sense as to why they would have left the ship. If it were me and my family and trusted loyal crew, I would like to believe I would have made the same decision. As to the other captain and crew murdering all of them to claim a salvage reward, both men were obviously freindly toward each other, and I cannot believe that possible conclusion.
I agree, I don't believe Morehouse had any involvement in their deaths. Also it would have been near impossible for them to catch up the the Mary Celeste under normal circumstances.
Heard about your channel from my absolutely favorite channel, Mortis Media!! Well, I just subbed so I'll be looking forward to watching all of your videos! 👍🏻
The alcohol explosion makes sense and even if they did make it to land, who is to say the either did survive and were never found or even landed and were murdered by the native people? Some mysteries will never be solved.
I believe the vapors got to them. All probably drowned in the life boat. Sounded like it would of been easy to capsize. The captain probably grabbed his navigation tools since no one was aboard the ship. Excellent narration and facts! Briefy brought me here.
From the info we know this was most likely. In a life boat of that era in the middle of a winter sea would have been almost certain death. Glad to hear you enjoyed the narration 😊
13:37 A very interesting story. What you had come up with, in closing. Makes since! The life line snapped. Their life boat went a drift in a very possiable, bad weather conditions. The most likely scenario is that the empty alcohol barrels exploded causing the crew to abandon ship. Especially if the Captain brought along his wife and small daughter.
But like the tell tail signs of no blood trails and splatter. There would had been some traces of fire damage of some sort, and there Wasn't any of either one.
Another interesting case. A misjudgment and a human error seems most likely to me for whatever reason. And yeah eventually lost control of the lifeboat. Also would want to mention and appreciate your audio upgrade.
This is certainly the best theory so far, but there are still mysteries. For instance, Briggs took navigational equipment with him - why did he think he would need that?
My guess is that the because the Mary Celeste was slightly top heavy with newly-added superstructure she was slammed flat onto her beam ends due to a certain combination of wind speed/direction, sea state and sail settings. The terrified crew must have climbed out of the cabin doors (which were now in the ceiling) and took to the boats to make for the Azores but were lost at sea. Meanwhile the ship had righted itself and sailed on in a bedraggled state.
I think a lightning or electrical storm could cause them to want to get off the ship, especially if there were alcohol fumes from the cargo present ..perhaps from the rocking of the ship in choppy waters. Sad this wasn't thought of ahead of time!
@@UNSOLVABLE It's like, and I'm talking about NOW, there's a lost at sea and someone RUNS onto the beach to the water, STOPS, and looks for five minutes... No, nope, can't see them. They gone.

This is certainly the best theory so far, but there are still mysteries. For instance, Briggs took navigational equipment with him - why did he think he would need that?
It is posible that while on the lifeboat he intended to calculated a new course that would get then to land ASAP.
Also, those items are very valuable, better to have them with the Captain than stranded on the boat.
My guess is that the because the Mary Celeste was slightly top heavy with newly-added superstructure she was slammed flat onto her beam ends due to a certain combination of wind speed/direction, sea state and sail settings.
