- This video was taken on 5-8-2015 at Island beach State Park. Bluefish were pushing and trapping the Bunker into the wash, many were beaching themselves too. Every cast beyond the sandbar was an instant hook up for Myself and everyone around me. Most of the blues I caught were in the 12-15 pound range, largest on my Boga grip was 16.5 pounds. All top water action on plugs. Such an epic day! Wish I had my GoPro camera with me. Note: at 0:49 second mark, you can see a Blue ripping a bunker apart.
Great video. Still amazes me how smart these blues are to maximize their eating sessions. Awesome. Thanks for the share.

So you left the bunker on the beach to die, or did you push them back into the water?
Hundreds were beached, dead. Nature will take it course. I was there to fish. Some locals were taking the beached bunker for bait.

No it's just north of Barnegat near LBI, Berkely township I believe.
Never seen fish stranding themselves on the sand like this before... Close to suicidal especially if there are gulls and other predators about. Do you know if the tide was coming in or out ? I wonder if the fish only do this if the tides coming in and the sea can pick them back up ?
Looks like Tide was peak low, coming in. Bunker had no where to go in low tide and chose the beach. Legit BLue fish just waited for the water to rise

Md. Arafat Rahman one of my favourite fish if bled properly and allowed to set in the fridge before filleting the bigger the better they taste
James Zachary in Australia we call them tailor or greenbacks. They one of the safest fish to eat as they don't get a build up of mercury. Bleed them alive, skin and bone them. They are one of my favourite fish beer battered.
