5 Minutes Away From Homemade Whipped Cream

- Today I’m sharing a simple, 3-ingredient homemade whipped cream recipe. Skip the store-bought and make your own using just heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract, ready in just 5 minutes!

Ingredients
1 ½ cups heavy cream¹ cold (355ml)
½ cup powdered sugar (60g)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (5ml)
Instructions
00:00 Introduction
Place a medium-sized bowl (preferably metal) in the freezer for at least 10 minutes to chill.
00:34 Once bowl has chilled, remove from freezer and add heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract.
01:06 Using an electric mixer², beat ingredients on low speed, gradually increasing speed to high, and beat until stiff peaks form. Don't over-beat, but don't stop beating until cream has reached a thick, billowy consistency (think the thickness of Cool Whip).
3:01 Keep unused whipped cream refrigerated in an airtight container.
Notes
¹I recommend using "heavy cream" rather than "whipping cream". Heavy cream holds its shape better after whipping, but whipping cream will work in a pinch.
²I definitely recommend using an electric mixer for this. Whisking cream to stiff peaks by hand takes forever and is not fun.
If you're using a KitchenAid or stand mixer, use the whisk attachment for best results, though it's possible to make whipped cream using the paddle attachment.
I have made this whipped cream up to 3 days in advance and had it keep beautifully, however because all baking environments differ I generally recommend you make it the same day you intend to use it.

I think cool whip in a plastic tub tastes different than the spray cool whip. Tried this. But tasted like the spray cool whip. I think it’s whipping cream 🤷🏽♀️ Any idea y I can eat it out the tub from the store but not spray or seems homemade. Any recipes without heavy whipping cream?

Its harder to mess up with a egg beater mixxer like your using.
I prefer whipped cream without sugar and vanilla, but that's just what my tastebuds likes the most. Oh and if you do end up beating it for too lang, then strain the liquids and add a bit of salt to taste, and use it as an alternative to butter.

Which brand’s heavy cream did you used? M in Canada n m facing too much problem in finding the perfect heavy cream.
Honestly I use everything from store bought to land o lakes without much difference.
Do you go by any rule to know you are making enough frosting for your cake? I have 6 inch pans up to 3 layers.
I don't have a standard rule, just what you would typically see on a cake.

Whipped cream isn’t a traditional frosting so I haven’t tried completely covering a 3 layer 6 inch cake with it. I believe most of my frosting recipes should cover a cake like that. They do 8 and 9 inch 2 layer cakes so they should cover the 3 layer 6 inch cake as well. I hope that helps

Will this whipped cream hold up overnight in the fridge and keep its shape?
I personally have not had issues with it deflating, but just to be safe, I do recommend making it the day it is needed. There is a possibility it could deflate. :)
