    Ruger, having made part of their mark on the industry with Interchangeable calibers, has hit upon a terrific idea with the .40 caliber family. As you know, the .40 S&W is a common and versatile cartridge while the 10 mm is a very powerful and high velocity cartridge. This new revolver is also available, I have read in the original 40 caliber cartridge, the 38-40 Colt. These three together, in the same revolver, offer both nostalgia and modernity which has been the true hallmark of the famed Blackhawk model.

    • @Icarryone
      @Icarryone  4 года назад +1

      Agreed. 👍

    • @laurogarza4953
      @laurogarza4953 4 года назад +1

      I should add that the .40 caliber family is far more versatile than the .41 caliber family of one. The 10 mm auto is, I suspect, slightly more powerful than the .41 Remington Magnum of which I have been a fan for decades. Versatility is a revolver's
      hallmark characteristic but only if the cartridges, like 32, 38, 44 and 45 support it. It appears the .40 caliber family is a new addition to that broader family of revolver cartridges supplanting the 41 which was never developed as it should.

    • @laurogarza4953
      @laurogarza4953 4 года назад +1

      Another advantage is that the 40 caliber family is chambered in the venerable Blackhawk rather than the larger Super Blackhawk. Blackhawk revolvers are available in a variety of barrel lengths and there are also a very wide variety of holsters for them.

    • @laurogarza4953
      @laurogarza4953 4 года назад

      In the mid 1980s, I wrote to Remington, which developed the 41 Remington Magnum at the behest of noted firearms expert and champion pistolero, Bill Jordan, to produce a "41 Remington Special." As you must know, nothing came of it.

    I am a handgun hunter and have a couple of custom Rugers single action in 44 mag; 41 magnum and a 510 GNR by the Arizona gunsmith Gary Reeder. They are very accurate and a delight to shoot. This convertible Blackhawk seems very desirable. I really like the 10 mm for hunting.

    Nice. Favorite still my super Blackhawk with no damn transfer bar. When Ruger came up with the fix years ago they offered to install it free so most people sent their guns in or had local gunsmith do it. Problem is they would not give you the parts back so I said the hell with it and now I have a gun that is worth a whole lot more than all the converted ones. Paid $50 in 1974. Coworkers dad had a pair. Made $1.60hr at service station so only bought the one. Silly me. Less than 100 rds and like new. This gun more than any other got me into a hand loading pistol cartridges. Started with rifles then shotgun presses. But could really save a bunch loading 500 44s at a time. Incredibly accurate out past 100 yards. But you must carry five or if you carry six always make sure you're between cylinders just in case. Friend of mine's uncle was Tio Sam Myres of SD Myres Saddle Co in El Paso. We both got rigs from them before they went away and became El Paso Saddlery. Really have to suck in hard now to get it on all these years later. Just being able to slip into that beauty easily should be enough incentive to get me to drop 20 pounds. Love that they have it in a 10 mm now and may look into one. Great review as always.
