Honestly, company engraved iPods are more common than you’d think. Apple took orders from any business who would pay extra for a special commemorative edition, exactly like the one you’ve got (which is very cool. Don’t get me wrong)
Last December I got really into iPods, so I got myself a 6th gen from Vinted. I paid 35€ and it was listed as “Dodge iPod”, cuz it had a big Dodge logo above the Apple one. It showed its age, so I changed it with a custom blue chassis, but I kept the original parts
Many different companies had custom engraved iPods made in small quantities, usually made as gifts for employees. @EliteObsolete has found many of these iPods from different companies.
its not a collaboration, its just an engraving that customers could put onto a custom order. i have an ipod nano 3rd generation that has an engraving of a random chinese finance company. and apple has never collaborated with them.
@@TorutheRedFox Companies used to be allowed to order engraved products with their logo. I've seen quite a few iPods with company engravings floating around.
I have an iPod touch with the optimum logo on it. It doesn’t work. If you’re not in the ny nj area it is a cable/ internet company formerly known as cablevision. The techs used them for diagnostics and things. I don’t know how it managed to make its way out of the company, my friend gave it to me.
Oh! That's interesting, and it sounded to me like they didn't need the mobile data connection of an iPhone, but could still make use of Apple enterprise developer profiles, and I won't be surprised if they used Windows Mobile before moving to iOS.
My teacher said she had a honda one of these! I checked google, but couldn't find any evidence that car brands were bundling iPods with new car orders.
I remember a RUclips user uploaded a VHS or DVD recording of an old advert for a promotion VW had (at least in the US) where someone could buy a car of one of a few models (a Beetle was shown in the advert) from a participating dealer and get a free iPod, so I presume that was one of those.
To make the battery fit: the PCB in the cell is likely what is causing the extra thickness you describe, rather than simply "wires" as stated. Thankfully the cell is smaller in every other dimension compared to the original cell so fixing this should be easy. Remove the sticker that surrounds the battery and holds the PCB onto the cell, then fold down the PCB at the edge of the cell. Now it should fit.
they had a Volkswagen version of the iPod mini! sold originally with the 2005 VW New Beetle in Japan... it even came with a car connection kit over AUX to cassette lol!!
Hey, great video! just an fyi, please don't throw old batteries in the trash, drop them off at a battery recycler of if you have battery specific bins at locations such as university campuses
You should have known from the beginning that the battery was toast, when you see a device left in storage starting up immediately after plugging in, it could only mean that the battery is gone 😀
@@Renatodonadio I knew the battery would be dead, the question was would it still hold a charge. I’ve seen others on YT get lucky with devices sitting for years that are just as old as this, so you never know. Still I was pretty certain that I needed to replace the battery.
might consider getting a steel trash bin if you're tossing spicy pillows on the regular. not a fan of dropping fire hazards into flammable objects. fun video though.

I would try to polish the original one. that's a very rare shell.
Glad to see iPods are still reverent today

I found a 3rd gen that belonged to a worker at park mgm a while ago. Had a simmilar style case and engraving just with mgm branding.
Could you upload those videos to Archive?
That spicy pillow got recycled, right?
There is a special edition box of white iPod Touch 4th gen from Nissan: iPod, new big earbuds, plastic case with Nissan Juke logo and other papers

Hello, could you make a download link for the videos and other data that was on that Volvo iPod? The content seems interesting, many thanks.
I'll see what I can do! I'll post something in my community tab once I can make them downloadable.
