  • Riding along with Brandon as he takes us into Aspen on an overcast day in the mountains.
    On this flight, I'm observing Brandon as he is flying single pilot. This is required once a year and unfortunately for Brandon it happens to be going to Aspen. Thanks to his training and professionalism it was just another day on the job. Good job Brandon!

    What I enjoyed about this was the fact that the workload changes when you’re doing the single pilot and it shows how rusty one can get when you have a second. Funny to see Jon just sitting there telling you Not here to remind you that you needed to get further ahead of the workflow.

    Great video! Love these Aspen approaches... I've flown into KASE twice on the airlines, and it was quite a ride. This was back when I was a kid, and before the regional jets took over, so it was in a turboprop. My dad lived in Aspen in the 1970s, and they would ride over from DEN on a DC-3.

    Another great video Jesse. I used to fly the Dash 8 into KASE back in the day and it was always fun.

    Hi Jesse, I’m Brazilian and “joined the Phenom 300 world” this month (checkride was on Feb 6th). The airplane will be a 2018’s 300E model. My jet experience was on MU3 and BE40. Obviously, I can’t compare them against the 300E since modernization took place. I’m going to Melbourne,FL on March 1st and planned to “bring the bird” to Brazil by 11th. I got subscribed on your channel ‘cause there are nice trips, comments and consideration been shared by you! Good Flights! 😉🇧🇷

    Hi! Have a good New Year! Thanks for showing this interesting flight at mountains. One question: why did you need a maneuver at 6:15+ with a turn flying? It looks as if an airport on which (presumably) indicated previous course (marked in green on the screen, starting at 5:15), did not take your plane. /Sorry, I cannot hear good, and do not understand this from the talks in the air.../ Hmm... maybe this was part of testing program for single piloting skills? Thanks for answer again.

    • @IllFlyIt
      @IllFlyIt  6 лет назад +1

      Thanks Chuck, the new year is off to a good start.
      At 6:15 ATC issued a vector towards our final approach course. At that time, we were located a few miles south of the Eagle Airport KEGE. I think that is the one that is barely visible through the clouds below.

    I hate briefing approaches while ATC is talking 100 mph and I miss a call trying to brief my step down altitudes. (Very important) Autopilot definitely takes some workload off.

    What software are you running on the iPads?

    • @IllFlyIt
      @IllFlyIt  6 лет назад

      We use JeppFD for Jeppesen charts. On my personal iPad I use ForeFlight. That’s what I used to highlight the approach brief. I did all of that while editing this video. In flight I only used my company iPad.

    Your company will operate single pilot or was this some sort of evaluation?

    • @IllFlyIt
      @IllFlyIt  6 лет назад +3

      We rarely fly single pilot. If we do, it’s for maintenance test flights or empty repositioning flights. In order to retain single pilot authorization we get trained and evaluated as single pilot.
