Porthcawl Breakwater - Flood Defence Repair Work - 4k Drone Footage

This is the first wave of the flood defence repair work currently being undertaken in Porthcawl. The famous breakwater, initially built in 1820 and later extended in 1860, the internal structure still has its original wooden core that requires extensive renovation to withstand another 200 years of stormy seas. The breakwater is a world famous due to it being the subject matter of dramatic sea storm photographs as the waves crash over the lighthouse.

I walked along it after work one day at low tide...its a very impressive thing!

I can’t help but wonder, are they making any progress on this pier work? Still looks very very “under construction” a year later

@@koalamullet I usually watch that webcam, you get some great sunrises. And it's good to watch the waves when the weather is rubbish👍
