Having problems with voice calls on your Android based phone/cell?
Chances are you have audio routing problems.
Try this workaround to get the sound back in calls on your device.
It is very easy to do and is completely reversible should it not work for you.
It is also an option to turn off Ok Google in driving mode, I didn't in the video, but this might be an issue for your device also.
If this doesn't work you could try this: • Audio Router APP For S...
Many thousands of people have watched my earlier videos and got great results, so hopefully this will help many more!

dude I have the S8 now whenever I make a call or somebody calls me they can hear me crystal clear but I cannot hear them it sounds like they are very far away I turned on the key volume on high and still I always have to put it on speaker phone if I want to have a conversation and its really annoying
Hi dear
I just wondering if have a solve for car bluetooth calling where the receiver gets weak sound and cant hear me most the time.
Thanks.
Is the Bluetooth using a separate mic or the phones built in?
Thank you ... It was really helpful ...
Thanks you so much sir. I was so troubled and then I checked this video. Now I'm a happy guy. 😀👍
Great stuff, you've earned a thumbs up for sure!
It is I have so say rather ridiculous that a phone can loose it's voice and sound capability, it is its primary function..
+sussuration thanks for the comments. I agree with you the principal function of a phone is to be able to speak with people! Technology!
Well guess what buddy!!! IT HAPPENED TO ME!!!
Thank you so much for this fix, still a thing on Android 10. Good job Google.
Paradox949 Thanks for the feedback! Please consider sharing the video and information on your social media, it really helps to get the message out there.
It worked I got a Samsung Galaxy j7 pro model and was successful at.following your steps.. thanks again thumbs 👍👍
am having this same issue. When I go to preview the ring tones they are not playing. Do not disturb is off and my volume on full. I have checked the settings you suggested and still not working. Any other suggestions?
sorry nothing else comes to mind
When i call someone, they can't hear me at all, already clean my mic, if i record myself on a video the audio works for the mic, but not when i call someone they can't hear me. What do i do??
What options have you already tried to sort this out? Maybe I can offer a different approach?
Same thing happened to my phone
Me too helping pls
@@mikesunboxing I went to follow the instructions you gave here in this video and mine was alreadyturned off I haven't changed anything and just the last two days people can't hear me on a phone call or on a voice call through Facebook what can I do? Please help! Anyone???
me too hays
I have tried this and it did not work for my Google Pixel (original). I am also having problems with the phone defaulting to do not disturb mode and am not able to record audio or video at all on any apps. Any thoughts on this? It's a known Google issue but they don't appear to be working on any fixes for this.
I might need to look into that problem to see what I can find out. Another option is audio router.maybe try that and see if it starts behaving normally?
They are just sending me a new phone. I tried an audio router but it doesn't fix the microphone issue. Really hope they fix this so it doesn't happen again with the new device
Glad you're getting a new phone and fingers-crossed it doesn't happen again
Mike...I have a Samsung galaxy s8...everything was fine and then suddenly, the audio stopped working on incoming calls (have to put call on 'speaker' mode to hear the other person. And today I noticed no sound when I played back a short video recording.
Your tutorial is so well presented...clear, concise, perfect speed and great visuals for your step by step...but, I did exactly what you said and actually, all the sliders under 'voice' in google settings were already 'off'.
Argh 😕! Do you have any other suggestions?! I stayed on hold forever yesterday trying to teach tech support with verizon...their online 'live chat' assistant was unavailable. Double argh! (😕😕)
Thank you for any input! 😁
+Marilina Merino thanks for the comments, I would suggest maybe trying the sound about app from the play store. It forces audio to be routed to the correct speaker or earpiece. It is free to try and will confirm if the problem is a hardware or software issue. You could also try restarting the phone in safe mode to see if calls work properly without all the apps running in the background. Also check with your network provider to see if your settings for the simcard are correct.
Hi mike, thanks for the video, i have the same problem aswell, if i may ask how to run the phone in safe mode?? Thanks in advance!
What phone do you have? Usually my hold the buttons in a certain order. Let us know and we will see what the process is.
Hi mike! Im using Samsung s8 running on oreo. If i may ask for your help, i still dont have sound thru my ear earpiece and whenever I'm taking calls I've already restarted and reformated my phone and I already have updated it to Oreo and and all my files backed up as well please help me Mike and more power!
Marilina Luisa same thing is happening with my S8 😑
I have a LG Tribute Dynasty and callers say sound goes down when i plug in ear buds and i can hear them the same?
Sounds like an issue with the headset or the jack or maybe the volume control when the headset is in use. Try cleaning the headset jack or adjusting the 'in call volume' when using the headset.
hi i have another question, moto 5, i have created a event/reminder in calander, how can i "move" that event to a different date, i cant see any options, i think it a bit silly to have to delete it and then go to another date and re-enter it, any ideas?,,thank you
Yeah it seems that that is the way to do it. Not very intuitive. Cut and paste would be a lot easier.
Hello. So I'm having issues with my Galaxy A5 2017.Today I was on my phone with earphones plugged in,all good.Suddenly, after turning on the radio, the audio stopped working. External speakers are fine but the microphone records very loud static over backround noise and Theres no sound in calls.
What can i do??
Having this problem on a new s32 5g tried everything still very little volume on calls. Do you think there's a fault with the phone. Thanks.
it could be, hard to say really. i would take it to a shop and get them to test it
@@mikesunboxing will do, thanks Mike
Watching without any sound 😞
Stop it your making me sad 😞
Mike's unboxing, reviews and how to "But its now oki! 😃"
:-)
Thanks mate for this easy to follow instructions. I did apply them but the sound issue remained. I connected a headphone and ofcourse sound on the speaker (not the headphone due to routing the sound). I cut of the 3.5mm jack of a broken headset and left it inside the phone. Done that 4 days ago and still sound works. Hopefully it will keep on working.
Good job!
This worked immediately after I restarted, and I just want to say thank you! I went through all kinds of stuff to get it fixed before I saw this. Great video. Will reccomend
Great news! Thanks for letting us know. Please consider sharing the video on your social media to help more people.
You are fantastic Sir.
Just out of the blue my Android Coolpad just stopped producing sound. Using a headset was ok, but nothing from the inboard speaker, not even call notification or notification sounds.
Not even the my cell provider could/knew how to fix it, pushing a replacement cell to replace it.
Your approach to Google Voice fixed it up on the spot. How it started misbehaving is a mystery, but now it works s it should.
Thank you a whole bunch.
Joe
Thanks joe glad the video was useful
My phone does't have that option in the voice match setting. Im on Android 8.1.0 on a LG Q7 +.
My audio works when I plug a headphone in, but not when I take the headphones out. However the headphone icon isn't there when I take the headphones out, so I'm not sure what is wrong.
Thanks for the video, the problem I am having with my android phone is when I am calling, I will not hear a ringing tone on the other end until the person picks it and then I hear the voice. It's an infinix note4 pro. Your reply will be much appreciated.
Okay this is a quite common problem and is normally a fault at the cellular provider end of things. Do you use LTE VoIP on ylur networks?
nice video. I personally don't own an android phone, but I find you videos very professional, informative, and straightforward. Keep up the good work!
+Tony Iz A Nub thanks for the kind comments
i have an blackview bv6000 ip-68 and when i make a call the persons voice i am calling is very faint and i have to keep putting on loud speaker to hear them clearly. they can hear me fine. any thoughts on what i could do. its not the volume button as its turned up full
Not sure wait to suggest sorry
Thank you so much. Love you man. I thought to buy a new phone. You saved my money. Thanks a lot
Hi Mike...can you help with a solution to a quite strange problem that I am facing in my phone... I've got a new Nokia 8 a few days back and got upgraded to Oreo while setting it up...since then the headset keys are not working either while listening to music or to make or end calls...if I speak through the headset mic people can't hear me as well... otherwise the phn is working fine...Plz Help...!!
Very odd? Try a restoration from scratch. But backup first and see if it can restore after?
You're a genius Mike! I was just about to send my phone back when I found you. Great work and many thanks.
+Tom Bentley thanks Tom, I'm glad it worked for you. Welcome to the channel
I received a call early morning and phone was fine. Then received another call 1 hr after first and issue started. Thank you for your fix it is now working again. Your video was so clear and not to fast, just what I needed to do exactly to fix the issue. Thanks so much
Happy we could help! Thanks from Kath & Mike @ mikesunboxing
i dont have the option "voice match", in place of that i have "ok google" detection,,,everything else is there= language, hands free, speech output, offline speech recognition, block offevnsive words, bluetooth headset,,, thats it,, any ideas? thanks
Just turn off ok Google Voice detection, that should do it
Just upgraded my Z3c to Oreo 8.1. This method sorted my issue. Thanks.
Wish other manufacturers would provide quicker updates, my Huawei p10 lite is still stuck at 7.0 :-(
Sony stopped the Z3c at 6.1, but with the help of XDA Developers (and lots of reading) I now have 8.1 installed.
Wish I could say the same. Huawei seem quite difficult to write ROMs for.
I've got no sound in calls except only when using Bluetooth earbuds or having phone on speaker phone. I've got an umidigi a9 phone. Updated recently and says a11 version in settings. Can you help me please?
does it have a heaset jack? if so try cleaning it and look for the headset icon on the screen somewhere, that means it thinks headphones are plugged in
Hi So i have Followed the Steps in the video and i still dont get Phone Audio coming through Bluetooth. My car and my Jaybird X3 Bluetooth Headphones. i have already factory reset and done a cache wipe and still not working. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
are you using the audio router software or soundabout?
Thanks a lot for saving my money. I would have given more than one likes if possible.

Can anyone help cuz im on android pie, in a line and whats app, i didnt get any sound, buet with default calls, it works, is it a bug or something else of android pie because even when i already turn ok google off
i still don't have ant devices on pie yet so i can't give you any easy answer. Most people that have done over the air upgrades have had to do a reset then restore to get most features working
@@mikesunboxing its okay, im changing back to miui anyway because there's still bugs on Pie, but thanks for help me with the reset solution, i will try that one
Thank you so much. I thought my LG Android 5.1.1 was down the tubes. The "hamburger" menu is at the bottom right on my screen. All said, your suggestion worked.

How about this issue that I experienced with a recent new Note 8 and on a new S9+ I exchanged the Note8 for. (both had/have same issues)
I went to record a friends live Rock Band, in the same venue, sitting at the same location as I did so countless times with my 5 year old Samsung S4 without any issues ever.
The problem...after a video recording of live music which is loud but not overbearing or painfully loud 'AND WITH EARBUDS IN' the AUDIO portion of the video recording will sound really good with rich, full Bass Drums etc then fade to very thin, tinny almost like a 1950's AM Transistor radio type of sound. Wearing Earbuds really make the issue noticeable.
During a 3-4 minute video recorded song the audio will fade back and forth (good-bad-good-bad) like this several times. And no, my finger/hand was not covering the external microphone...I made sure of that.
With both new phones all I did was uninstall few games as I never play games on my phone.
BTW, on both Phones the Video Setting was on 'Auto".
On a new Note 8 & my current S9+ this is beyond annoying especially being a musician.
Any ideas as to why this is happening with two new different Samsung Phones, and Flagship Phones at that!
One possible reason I could think of is the noise reduction algorithm is trying to equalise SPL and doing it really badly? Try doing a test with noise reduction turned off. This is my gut reaction. Noise cancellation has been the route of many audio problems, especially with IOS. Not so much with Android (maybe until now in this specific case) Out of interest if you plug in a separate mic do you get similar results? Keep me posted i'm interested to see where this goes. Good luck with it.
Thanks for the reply, at least YOU touched on a possible cause/reason whereas a call to Samsung Tech was completely useless.
I don't have a "separate mic" to try...again my 5 year old S4 was flawless with live video recordings of loud bands'
I've been looking how to access anything called "noise reduction" but under "accessibility" all I'm seeing are settings for 'hearing impairment settings' etc.
Do you know where this setting is on the S9+?
EDIT...just found something on Google for the S9 & S9+ called "Adapt Sound" that should greatly improve sound (maybe not video recorded audio-don't know yet)...but it's "hidden deep within the settings"...looking into it now!
EDIT again...maybe not the cure for my problem. "The feature, aptly called Adapt Sound, is hidden deep within the settings menu on your S9 or S9+, but will make a world of difference in audio quality once enabled. As its name implies, Adapt Sound will fine tune your S9's audio and customize it to perfectly match your hearing, which dramatically enhances the perceived quality of any set of headphones."
And thanks again.
UPDATE...within my S9+ there is nothing at all to adjust as far as "noise reduction". The "Adapt-Sound-Settings" that I discovered are not for recording but playback of a phone call, it's a type of EQ.
My only course of action is to take my S9+ to a (not very close) authorized repair center to see 'if' they can fix the issue but...I have the feeling my S9+ will then be shipped to Texas to the main repair center were it will be out of my hands for maybe two weeks.
This Video/Audio flaw happened with a new Note 8 and my new S9+...more than disappointing.
Have you tried using a different recording app or camera / video app? Maybe an alternative?
Not to sound overwhelmingly ignorant...I would not know where to begin to use what you recommend. The S9+ is set up more/less out of the Verizon Box with some small personal changes. I deleted a few games as I don't play games on my Phone. I made adjustments to Font size etc, changed the background of texts from white to black and changed the outgoing texts and incoming texts to different colors. Another thing that does not work on 'this' new phone is the 'smart-stay' feature (I could care less). I can fix any Automobile, boat Harley engine and everything around it. I know all sorts of building trades but when is comes to apps, digging into computer settings etc I crap the bed.
I'll never use this Phone to it's fullest capabilities...just to make calls, texts, take pictures, internet use and of course records live music and other videos. I have followed some video directions in RUclips like yours to find out other information and step-by-step instructions.
One thing I need to test...video record my TV and see if that also has the audio problem or if it is only during LOUD sounds, like a live band. Samsung suggested a Hard Reset and/or take it to a not so local authorized repair facility where they can only perform simpler repairs...not motherboard or if it has a bad microphone. Then, it has to go to Texas.
I tried so many times.
but my"" access with voice match"" is stuck.. can't do on/off.
help!
what is it stuck in on or off? is it greyed out or just not changeable?
Holly sh*t ! My gf's Motorola XT1072 wasn't working when on a phone call. She tore appart the whole phone to check if the speaker was disconnected or damaged. Nothing. She restarted in safe mode, nothing.
I found this video afterwards but really didn't think this would solve the issue as so many tricks on RUclips only apply to some very specific problems. But it did! OMG! My gf was so pissed about Google. :D
Do we know why the OK Google stuff is messing with the speaker?
Thanks for your video!
+Guigui thanks for sharing your story with us. We are glad you have got the phone working again.
There is no actual reason that has been proved, but my thoughts are that as the ok Google is monitoring the mic for the trigger word, when a call is started from someone else the app doesn't pass back the port to the phone dailer app and therefore they can't hear you. This is more evident when you initiate the call and it sometimes works properly as the app switches over the port. That makes sense to me, what do you think?
Hey, today I had the problem of no sounds in calls. I tried to clean it, then I tried your method. And after, the person can hear for a few seconds, then again not hearing me at all, then hearing me like I'm far away, and so on. I don't know what else can it be. My phone is Samsung Galaxy s9 +, only 3 month I have it. Till today it worked perfectly. But today I bought a new cellphone case, original Samsung and put a new Gorilla Glass, but nothing more. Could you help me please?
Sounds like something is interfering with the secondary microphone or there is still something stuck in there, which is why it worked for a bit, then moved and stopped again. Record in video mode and see if the mic works ok in that. Let us know how you get on.
Mike's unboxing, reviews and how to I've recorded a video and also whatsapp audio message and the sound is fine, but I still have a problem during the call. Could it be Sim card problem? Or what else could it be?
Try making sure your SIM is setup as the provider suggests. In the simtool or something settings try turning of roaming and then select your country from the options. It might be a call routing issue. I had this for a long time with vectone mobile in the UK.
Didn't work on my Zenfone 2 but thanks for making the video in any case!

Great video, i'm using android version 9. My earpiece on the phone has very low volume with calls. I was about to return the phone thinking it's defective. But after I turn the google assistant off, the volume went back to normal. So it is a software issue. Thanks for the great solution.
Cool glad I was able to point you in the right direction
My phone's layout is a little different but I found the setting in the Google app. Worked for me after the Pie 9 update so thanks!
It is a lot easier to find when you have an idea what to look for
That's a great tip. I wish it fixed my issue. I can't hear callers with volume all the way up, unless it's on speaker. They can hear me fine. All other sounds work with no issue.
sorry to hear that
Hey I my j5 2016 was upgrade to android 7 and I'm not hearing on receive calls .. I did the same stuff you show in the video but not working for me
Okay lets see what we can do. Some questions.
1 What mobile network are you on?
2 Are you not hearing people, or are people not hearing you?
3 Have you tested your earpiece with other audio like videos and music?
4 Have you tested your microphone with ok google or sound recorder?
Look forward to your reply! Lets fix this thing!

I have nokia 6 (Ta - 1033) my phone has just lost sound when I am answering a call, I can't hear then and they can't hear me. any idea or helpful tips would grateful.
What methods have you tried so far so I don't go over things you may have tried already.
I have performed a factory reset again, and I was inform 2day that the fault lies in the software. and not in the hard ware
.
yep that is the worst fault. If it works fine before you add any apps then that will be a conflict somewhere. I found disabling the google assistant and google voice helped me a lot. But it ended up being a problem with my SIM not being setup correctly. Which i thought was complete BS, but i changed the settings to match the settings my provider offered and it worked!
The day I say "OK Google" is the day I take the gas pipe...
Thank you very much for posting! this worked on umidigi a9 pro.

Hello mike.. i have samsung a5.. everytime someone calls me I cant hear anything but they can hear me.. I have to use the loudspeaker so I can hear them but everytime I turned it off im not hearing any sound again :( please help me :(
Have you tried to clean the headset jack port? It could be dirt in the socket and making the phone think it is in headset mode?
Worth a try?
Okaaay thank you so much.. i will give it a try
Good luck with it. If that doesn't help get back in touch and we can try some other options okay.
It didnt work mike 😭😭😭😭 i even install audio router i dont know what to do.. :(
Have you tried a factory reset yet? Sorry if you did already I'm trying to answer questions in between filming another video 😀
I have a problem with my samsung A8 2018. I can call and receive calls but when I speak to someone even though they can hear me I can't hear them what should I do? I'm really confused. Also when I use earphones I can hear them normally.
it is possible you have a hardware fault, but you can try using either audio router or soundabout to force your phone to use the earpiece on the phone when in calls. Or try a factory reset and see if it works then. Then app an app at a time and see what app is causing the conflict. It normally points to facebook messenger or whatsapp.
Have a go and let us know how you get on. Good luck!
@@mikesunboxing thank you so much for the quick reply I'll try this and update you.

I have samsung note5. people can't hear me when I used to talk with them via speaker. how can I fix it?
Try the soundabout app to check the audio routing. It is free to try and will give you an answer to what Is going wrong.
I tried this and safe mode but those are useless....
Is it problem with voltage / current supply in phone? My Moto G4 speaker gave some noise for 3 days and suddenly stopped working after that. Both speakers stopped working, music also & call also. I showed to a local shop in Bangalore, he changed the IC with some other used phone's IC, worked good for 1 day again giving same problem. He is saying it is not Speaker problem, but Phone problem.
difficult to say. an electronics engineer would be a good option to try
Thank you very much. It really works.

They changed it again. And it didn't work.
