  • Flash ambient photography is the gold standard when it comes to real estate, architecture, and designer interior photos. Using a high-quality modifier is key to minimizing harsh shadows and adding beautiful soft light to a scene. I have used a lot of different modifiers in my career and this is by far and away the best one for interior photography.

    Will, what is the cover on the AD400 called? I've looked all over and can't find it.

    Can you collapse it to swoup through small doorways while attached to the flash?

    Hey Will, thanks for the helpful video. I’m going to try that modifier. Amazon offers three sizes under that item number, do you remember which size you bought?

    THIS IS REALLY GREAT - THANKS! This will solve so many problems!
    Like some others, until now I did not know this diffuser existed. For a similar - but NOT as good - outcome, I've been using a big ridgid (not very portable) 12" plastic sphere for the ad600 and a couple of fotodiox "ostritch egg" diffusers (for regular flashes). Those are okay, but your image results looks so much better.

    Hello Will, I've watched most of your videos so far and they have been pretty much a masterclass on real estate photography. Your workflow with LR Enfuse, which I hadn't even heard of as a plugin before watching your videos, has been really game changing for me. I am wondering how even though you started not long ago you don't have MANY more followers, you definetely deserve it!! I don't have anything to add to the video, just saying a huge thank you! Greetings from Greece!

      Well thank you. I don't know about masterclass but I appreciate the thoughtful comment. I am just wanting to help people, I don't have dreams of being a massive channel or anything like that. I see so many other more well produced photography channels out there and kind of envy their production value. But I do this in my spare time and I am just one guy while they tend to have teams and camera people etc. So I hope to keep improving and providing better content. Thank you so much I appreciate you and everyone else who has commented nice things!

    Brody…for smaller rooms, I use my 200 & a MagMod dome…worth considering…

      Same here, either AD200 or AD300 with MagMod, works great and much smaller than the setup in the video.

      100% agree. I never liked the magmod. I bought into that system when it was really early on and maybe I should check back now but I never found the diffusion from it to be what I was wanting. But If it works for you guys thats a huge win. The biggest complaint I have is the size of my setup. I will have to check out thier offereings now and see if anything grabs my interest. cheers!

      I like mine, but I use mine a bit different, mounting a mini monopod on the cage, about a foot above the lens, with the dome facing straight up…works well in many rooms…I have the round head on it tho…just got the XL version for the AD 600…prolly will do a similar setup, as I also have the separate flash head…tried the 20” Godox l lantern…had to send it back…PITA to open it…😎…but I take my big lantern on occasion

    Nice. I've actually been using a 20" lantern for the last 2-3yrs with my Flashpoint 600.

      When I started working with off camera flash for REP I was under big time constraints. So it was nearly impossible for me to use any kind of modifer. But since working with more high end clients who give me more time and organizing my REP business to allow me for more time to shoot the lantern has been by far and away the best one. I just stumbled upon its greatness through trial and error, really cool to hear others have been using them for years!

      @@WillGayPhoto Yeah it was the same for me just wanting to try it out not knowing if anyone else had tried it before as I never saw anyone online using it. I shoot multifamily so the model units are small and having a larger light source works better for all the potential shadows.

    Okay so a few questions. Currently I'm ceiling bouncing with a lightstand+300pro and popping extras as needed with another 200/300. So this is attractive cause it's way more nimble it seems (not having to fight with the light stand etc. Curious if/what you do for super long/dark rooms and if you will walk into the scene and fire more off or just let the ambient pick up the slack on the exposure at the expense of a little more casting. And then curious if you have a video already showing how you shoot smaller rooms (mostly bathrooms where there''s going to be a big ass mirror that will reflect) Cause currently I can get in there with the small little lights and get my correcting shots for the mirrors but can see how you might struggle once the setup gets a bit bigger. (I also have a 600 that would work quite well with this setup so I'm gonna order the ball at the and start trying to implement this) Sorry I know this is really long winded but I really do appreciate your videos and the way you present things. Especially something as trivial as breaking down/setting up your bag because it give and idea of what the workflow is like. Thanks again!

      Thank you for your questions! I love answering them. For long rooms or larger rooms I will actually walk into the scene. I will do a full power flash over the camera and then walk into the room to get more light on the opposing wall. It does depend on the room. A dark basement I don't worry too much about but a large open floorplan livingroom, kitchen etc I will shoot 2-3 flash frames. I don't really have issues in powerrooms with the orb. Its small enough to fit through doorways. I usually hold it and stand around the doorframe so I am not in the photo. The ONLY struggle with the orb is just setting it down. Its not bad but it does take longer and more thought. Thank you!

    Hi Will, love your videos, you get right to the point. Quick question do you use the 20” over the 25” lantern. Thank you.

      Thank you! I use the 20 inch. I think its actually like 19.7" but lets just call it 20!

    I wonder if I can find something that fits my newer vision 4mount.

    • @WillGayPhoto
      @WillGayPhoto  3 месяца назад +1

      The vision 4 appears to be a standard bowens mount so you could use this lantern or you could get the Neewer branded one model number NS65L. Thats the beauty of the bownes mount...you can use SO MANY different attachments.

    • @devonzachariasmedia
      @devonzachariasmedia 3 месяца назад

      @@WillGayPhoto I appreciate the suggestion. I used the standard metal cone attachment onto my vision 4 with a fabric diffuser with an elastic shot directly into corners instead of bouncing off ceiling and I personally liked the results much better. Thanks for the video. I’ll probably invest in a lantern.
