For a space like that, I'm typically at about 1/4 to 1/2 power with my flash, depending on my iso. I usually shoot at 320, though for this place, I shot at 500 to speed up my workflow
That’s great work flow, I was doing to the same process. But if you do the 40 pictures within an hour or two….you’re in trouble. Because you’re using two style at once ( HDR+ FLAMBIENT) For my HDR PART, Aurora does the job with vivid colors, the rest I use to process ( merge) with flash shot in photoshop. It’s definitely great, but if you have more than more project… Therefore I have decided doing either Flambient or HDR alone. The time is of the essence! If you don’t do the magazine or high end house, I think the HDR or FLAMBIENT is alone best way to go. If you’re not agree with me please show me that I’m wrong. Thank you for your time.
I think I get what you're saying, but maybe not.
So when you're shooting flambient, I'm assuming you're taking a single exposure and using that as your ambient layer, correct?
That's basically what I'm doing when I take my 3 exposure bracket; except I have an action that takes those 3 exposures and automatically blends them to get a single, balanced image. Then that merged layer gets stacked on top of my flash layers and I continue with the flambient editing.
Now since that hdr layer is for flambient, I don't correctly white balance the interior because the hdr layer is really only used for its luminance values.
Due to this, I prefer to let my xustom action merge the 3 exposures for me rather than use another program like LR, Enfuse or Aurora. Using those programs only adds more time when you're adjusting your HDR file to be stacked on top of your flash layers.
The only way I see the use of those extra programs were if I was only shooting HDR, but as I mentioned earlier, the HDR Ambient layer is only used for its luminance values.

Why did you stop making videos
Hi Brandon, hope you had a good Christmas and New Year. I'm re-doing my actions and just wanted to clarify something as i have searched your videos and cannot find the answer. The 3 internal brackets are -2,0 and +2. For the 3 external brackets wasn't they the same but offset by +1 stop (-1,1 and +3)or were they offset by -1 stop?
Hey my friend, I appreciate you coming by. I go +1 for my middle exposure. So it should technically be -1,+1,+3.
I found that by doing this, I won't have to increase my exposure in post, which helps to eliminate another step that adds to the time.
