This is like the third time I have watched this episode....love it!!! Kurt is brilliant!
"You think Ralph Berlimbolos bro?"
I respect Kurt for leaving and starting his own school.
Hope he makes videos and move of the week again
Sounds like Kurt's getting all kinds of high on Sunday lol
And I thought friday was high day
"The purest form of the sport is still king and thats the basics"! As simple as true.
I have seen this three times over a period of 5 years, and I keep getting the 'cool older brother of a friend' more and more.
He is so right about basics. When I was at the Gracie Academy back in the nineties, there were rare opportunities to be taught by Rorion or Helio and they always surprised us not with new moves we hadn't seen but with new ways to use what we THOUGHT we already knew.
15:01 "I learned how to pass from Ralph. That's why I look like this. I'm using my face when I'm passing"
I literally almost pissed my self
This is seriously the best episode. If you visit the bay, DO NOT miss the opportunity to train with Kurt and his guys. They are tough, but rolling with them and being taught techniques by Kurt is FUCKING AWESOME.
My first lesson in '96 was with Cesar and Kurt, then a blue belt. Kurt took full mount, and then they told me to get out. Of course I spazzed and couldn't budge him. That led into learning Oopa and on from there. Great lesson. Always a gentleman. Kurt's right, the academy was loaded with talent. Many of the guys were black belts from different arts or had their own schools. I don't think I tapped anybody for over a year!!!
Second time i've watched this, and forgot how awesome Kurt is!
1:56 Dude in the background knocks over the foam rollers, looks down and just walks away... no hespect

“Like” for Hobbit nerd!
Dungeons & Dragons Crew
Mount and back. Simple.
why isnt there any money in Jujitsu for the instructors and the students competing? Seems to me in a fair world the instructor should get 10% of the pot for each student that wins, and the student should get money for winning. Its real simple math. Part of the money used to sign up for events and the people paying to watch, part of it needs to be devoted to the winners and their coaches. The events are set up all wrong where the only people making the money are the event organizers. Thats not fair to the people that work the hardest-the competitors and coaches. Jujitsu is wide open for rich people to sponsor events and spread the money around a bit and they can still make a profit for themselves. Eddie Bravo seems to be one of the few people doing this, he seems a really fair person.
Kurt.... when was the last time somebody went into your gym and challenge anybody ? =) i would love to heard that shit
technique of the week face pass lmfao ahahahaha
#oldschool don't fuck with the kurt
