Volvo D13 no crank no start/ Bad ECM replacement

- D13 engine died while the truck was driven , after driver wasn't able to start it! Inspected all the wires that goes to the batteries to the starter and to the alternator, everything was fine , tryed to bypass the starter, it was cranking the engine but still no start, after inspected all fuses, fuse FE 4 were blown, (ignition fuse in the box in front of cabin, replaced it still no start, after removed the upper wiring conector from ecm everything was fine, tryed to remove the Lower one and something was holding it! Tried to pull harder and it came out with one melted pin, plastic around that pin on ecm was also melted on the conector everything fine! Is a probability that was a short inside the ecm olson that was a short somewhere on the wiring harness, replaced the ecm from another one from another truck , and it started , everything is fine!!! Did anybody had something similar?

Replacement ECM does not look new and it still start without programming.. now I know its possible.. thanks for your video, keep uploading bro
It's going to start only if it's going to be from the same engine and the same year! If not you will need to reprogram it!

Looks like Pin B57 of the EECU broke off in the harness. Pin B57 is a power supply. Most or all of the pins on that end of the B harness and that end of the A harness are for ECM power or ground. This is why they are bigger than the rest of the pins. And wow. It clearly got very hot.

That ground on the ecu does it ground to the block where the ecu bolts in or do it bolt some where else?

The only message i get it Maintenance required vehicle Ecu. And j1939 Communication error with Engine ECU. Please help me out with this if you have any idea what could it be

Hey I had the same problem (crank no start) on a 07 volvo d12 and I replaced the ecm for a different used one with the same part number, now it starts only when primed and accelerates fine then dies seconds later. Does that mean I need to get the ecm reprogramed??
Usually if its removed from another truck that is the same make and model it should work fine! If I'd doesn't you can try to reprogram it! Are you sure you don't have any other problems?

Valeriu salutare. Pot să intreb dacă folosim un ecm uzat dela motor asemanator cu aceiasi ani aproximativ. Este nevoie de reprogramare sau avem sanse să pornească fară?
Si dacă este nevoie de reprogramare cum de reprogramat ? Prin remplace hardvere sau new software ?

I'm the same issue, in my truck, i can get to gear 10 and the truck starts to sputter out.. i was told it was my ecm at the volvo shop, its costing me 3500 for a repair.. is that right?
Yes, at Volvo shop price is approximate like this! I the ECM it's around 1200 and it should be programmed !!!
Just had mine go out. Costing me $3000. Got to get it programmed all over again and get the DEF off it AGAIN.

Hey i have a 2012 vnl. Its not doing anything when i try to crank it. Its giving me this message along with check engine light. J1939 communication error with engine ECU. Any idea what could it be?
