Ur incredible, I won English schools XC and the international home countries XC aswell I’m an u15 boy and I think ur style of running and talent is amazing in terms of marathon running 🏃🏻♂️🏃🏻♂️
Fredrik Josefsson thanks Fredrik.. glad you liked it. I have got an external mic.. but I know when I’m at my desk it’s not ideal as it’s attached to the camera. I’ve got a better mic on order than I can clip on my clothing.. so will be better next time!
Glad you found it helpful. I think there is appeal for everyone just to see how well they are living their lives. So many of us (me included in the past) take all these extra supplements, without any real valid reason.. so this can just confirm or deny our need to do that.. elite or not. Hope your running is going well!
Yes, I currently spend a small fortune on supplements so this would be ideal. My running’s not great at moment, been struggling with a knee injury. Initially it would be painful after about 5 miles into a run but now get pain even before I reach a mile! Trying to rest and not run but it’s so frustrating ☹️
Try and let it settle down for 3/4 days or so.. got to think about the long term. Just try to picture yourself running happy and pain free in a weeks time, after the rest period. That usually works for me. If you do get it done, let me know how you get on!
Our local university in Dublin is doing this as part of a genetics survey. Did a dexascan and bike V02 max test aswell on the day. Very interesting and great to get the results and see where my general health is.
Hey David.. I got a Dexascan and VO2 Max test through a University study a couple of years ago.. it was really good. Always great to know as much as you can about what's going on inside!
A good interesting vid it’s worth doing more so as a athlete been thinking about it myself just comes down to cost lol but I think I will get it done especially as I’m approaching my late 40s
Nice one, Ben. Your reviews are great. It would be cool if you reviewed/shared thoughts on running insoles at some point (I remember you mentioning in passing in a Hoka review that you used them). Cheers.
Hey! I did have a pair I was kindly given my a company, but I've not used them since. They were good, but at £99ish.. I would have found that hard making a review when so many people couldn't afford a £99 pair of trainers, let alone an insole that cost that much. Was there a certain brand / model you were interested in? As I can always try and source some more moderately priced options for a review?!
OK. Thanks for the reply, @@BenParkes. No, I had no models in mind, more just curious about when and where you think they may help people in general. I can imagine folks happily paying that if they make multiple pairs of trainers go from good to great. But fair point, its maybe not for everyone at any cost
Thanks for sharing this with us! Very informative and it shows how a whole food plant based diet is doable and perfect for endurance sport despite some critics...just a question: do you supplement b12? Thank you!! p.s. I am interested to know your opinion about cross-training, particularly cycling, and how to use it to improve running economy
Hey Marco! I wasn't taking any supplements before the test.. occasionally took some Vitamin D.. but taking it properly now. I was a bit surprised about the B12 being ok, but then it is fortified in a lot of non-diary milks now, and occasionally have some breakfast cereals that have it in too.
They are just Ikea shelves and as part of the Ikea set up you can buy a rail to attach to the shelves.. I guess they probably intended you to hang towels or something like that from them. Then I've just mounted them right at the back, so the medals just hang down. I'll put a photo on my Instagram stories today so you can see!
Hi Simon. It's a difficult one.. as I personally wouldn't want to get my GP to do blood tests, without an obvious sign there was something wrong.. just don't want to put an extra strain on the NHS. And I think most GP's wouldn't give you a test, unless you had symptoms for something. It largely depends on your GP and your relationship with them I think. I'm not sure what a wellman/ woman clinic is.. but will look that up!
If Tomato's are a fruit why isn't ketchup a jam? Just the vitamin D at the moment.. everything else is ok! They say to stop taking all supplements a week before the test to get a accurate reading.. so given the results I think that’s ok.
The most important for adapting to training and performance are Haemoglobin and Haematocrit. Any chance of showing them? I'm just interested to make correlations between Ferritin Serum Iron and HCT Hglb. Cheers
Wow that’s a good set of results!! You clearly have your diet under control, especially impressive a week after a hardcore marathon effort 🙏
Enjoyed watching this Ben. Seems like your recovering well.

Another interesting and informative video Ben. Your productions are really useful. Well done.
Thank you Robert. Glad you find them useful!
High quality content as always! Very informative! A external microphone would improve the production quality a lot though..

Thanks for sharing, Ben. You’re clearly doing things right. I’m hardly an elite athlete like you but I’m quite interested in getting this done.

This is a super random question, but I really love how you’ve hung your racing medals! How do you have them pinned up on your wall?

Looks like a great service. Would your GP have done these tests as part of a well man/women clinic? Perhaps I suppose.

Ben Parkes ah ok that’s great news! Reassuring for a fellow plant based runner!will get the tests done when funds allow it. Have a good evening 👊🏻

So do you fell Well with a Planet based diet? Sorry for my questi on...
Hello Matteo. I do feel well. It works for me!
