A few words of advice from a physician: Don’t get labs unless you know how to actually interpret them. This hyperfixation with staying within reference ranges is a losing battle; everybody has different levels in homeostasis because everyone has unique physiology; a persons labs need to be evaluated in tandem and looking at isolated markers is stupid. Also don’t take biotin-containing supplements (or Celsius for that matter) in the weeks leading up to a lab draw bc they interfere with streptavidin-based lab assays
Agree with the hyper fixation part but very annoying when doctors dont test for the things i ask, its not costing them anything and i pay more then enough for insurance, very stupid they get to decide that part
Are you denying that there are optimal zones that people should try to stay in? If not, then why wouldn't you encourage people to try and be within those optimal zones? In tandem with what exactly?
@@proud-obese-americanhe didnt deny anything. He just gave an advice on how not to be too obsessed to be within the reference range . She went to her physician to address her concerns, and it turned out that it actually was "her normal" range. It just happened to be higher than the reference range. Lab results should be interpreted in tandem with other tests to get a whole picture.

it may be a little extreme but the Zoe app/programme might be of interest to you, they give you blood glucose and fat tests (as well as microbiome tests 💩 ) give you results, then if you sign up for the three months afterwards they give you diet goals that encourage reduced simple carbs, better foods for fibre ldl etc which you mention here are things you want to address, and then you can retest afterwards. Dr. Anthony Jay, an EXPERT on cholesterol, advices that people have a total cholesterol within the range of 180 - 280. Your total being at 188 is in the right range according to him.
Please share how you correct glucose and creatinine. I have the exact same challenges. I suspect it is because of working out. When I stop I see my glucose level drop.
I’ve been thinking about doing this for a while because my doc will only test my iron once a year (despite being chronically low) but I just can’t accept the extra cost for living in NY 😩
Yeah exactly what I was thinking.... Years ago, I've slapped all my results in spreadsheet to make graphs and all of that gets outdated fairly quickly if I look at "recommended" levels not to mention moving countries dare I say continent where "range" and recommended levels aren't the same. The most challenging part is to actually convince my doctor to prescribe a blood test with "extra" stuff. @@proud-obese-american The impact of dietary cholesterol varies wildly based on your genetics and your sex, but this variation is obscured by the fact that most medical research is still centered on white people and men. From Harvard’s school of public health: “For some people, though, blood cholesterol levels rise and fall very strongly in relation to the amount of cholesterol eaten. For these ‘responders,’ avoiding cholesterol-rich foods can have a substantial effect on blood cholesterol levels. Unfortunately, at this point there is no way other than by trial and error to identify responders from non-responders to dietary cholesterol.” Also, obesity IS linked to higher LDL and lower HDL levels. One way to combat obesity is to eliminate all foods containing cholesterol by adopting a vegan diet.

That's all doctors have ever done is take blood tests and use the reference ranges, I don't understand what you're saying here.

Interesting breakdown of the service but it would have been helpful if you added what the all-in cost would have been if you paid for all those tests.
Looks like $699 for a single test

I just spent 800 on bloodwork from my doctor so I don’t think it’s always cheaper through your doctor unfortunately. I wish I knew about this option!!
