Grandma put a needle and thread in my hand at age 5...I am 62 and still have needle and thread in my hand and a finger that looks like a human pin cushion...I don't care for a thimble much. You're all inspiring and your voice is calming. Thanks for sharing. I did "Boro" on my husband's worn out shirt and it looks and feels yummy - very tactile. Thanks again, lj
I find watching you is so calming and really resets my mind when it get cluttered with too many options. You are my go to videos to put my head back to a state of mind where I can start to create again without all the ideas bombarding me at once 🥰
Hello, I really enjoyed your calm voice and how you teach, it was very soothing to listen to. I also learnt a lot, thank you so much. New Subbie. Bella xx
I really appreciate how well you describe your slow-stitching technique, how you make your decisions, etc. You have such a pleasant, calming voice, and I feel myself getting in a creative mood just listening to you. I have done all kinds of needlework, but slow-stitching is fairly new to me and seems to be my most favorite right now.
Dear Jo, what a joyous discovery of this video! So exquisitely spoken, demonstrated and presented. I’m truly inspired to start having a go. I’m a Freeform, painter and a knitter and gardener, so I’m excited to give this a go and see what emerges. I’m just about to binge watch all your other videos. Blessings (from Australia)
These look just delicious! I can't wait to start! Question: I'd like to send some to my granddaughter who I rarely get to see, but the backs are exposed. Is there a video where you explain how to put something on the back? Thank you!
Thank you! I attach a backing to my scroll. You can see it in part 3. It starts about 2:40 minutes in ruclips.net/video/xG0foOGnzm4/видео.htmlsi=HNJ2YfY9rxnVzodz You could also use a binding method if you would like the backing to show on the front. I show that process in this video starting at about 6:50 ruclips.net/video/AmGoTe5wvoM/видео.htmlsi=5FlYxT6Vkf0G_kTC In that video I do it at the beginning of the project (before stitching) but you could also do it after stitching, keeping in mind that the fabric would come to front and cover the edges.
Thank you! This is so helpful. I'm excited to try this method after I finish the little square that I started today from your more current video. I also love the piece with the little black bird.
Good morning. your work is magnificent and it makes you want to sew. Thanks for the tutorial. I wanted to ask you if you wrap the thread around the little cardboard boxes or if we can buy these ready-made cardboard boxes? THANKS. Anne Marie.
Thank you! I wrap the floss around the bobbins and yes you can buy them - check out this short video where I show what I do ruclips.net/user/shortsYjuuKRVwx5s?feature=share
Yes! I aim for soft backing that’s easy to stitch through and thinner fabrics like cotton lawn, cotton voile or silk. When I use thicker fabrics that are harder to stitch through I don’t stitch as heavily, take breaks and use either gripping silicone thimbles or needle pulling discs (small round rubbery/silicone).😊🧵🪡

Simply put it is stitching by hand for the enjoyment of the process without the goal of perfection or the end project. The running stitch is the most common stitch but any stitch can be incorporated as there are no rules.

Quick question: Does your hand/fingers get tired when your stitching through thicker material? Any tips? 😊

Is this sashiko?
No, although it can sometimes look similar. Sashiko uses various often repeating patterns & different needles and threads.
